Moving to Charlottesville...Cheap Eats
just had Jinx cater a dinner for our team and it was amazing. Pulled pork, chicken thighs, slaw, potato salad and baked beans. best pulled pork ever! highly recommned Jinx!
Restaurant recommendations in Charlottesville, Va.?
Thanks for the info! So far we tried Blue Light Grill- just The Man and me, and it was spectacular. Corn and goat cheese pudding with crispy ham and chive oil, crabcake that had actual full crab claws within, served on the creamiest cheese grits Ive ever had outside of my mom's kitchen.
Then we had a team dinner catered by Jinx Barbeque- tender smoky pulled pork and juicy, flavorful chicken thighs, plus potato salad, crisp slaw and baked beans- fan-freakin-tastic. Jinx is such a wonderful, hospitable, funny guy to take care of all 40 of us- so far C-ville has unbelievable food and hospitality. loving it!

Hi folks, looking for a special experience to celebrate 2 friend's birthdays with a group of friends. Chef's Kitchen, private dining rooms- any suggestions? We've done Lightfoot in Leesburg chef's kitchen and it was outstanding, we've also had private dining at Ruth Chris which provide superb service and it was a great experience.

Bethany Beach
old thread- would love updated info on Bethany beach dining since we are headed there for a baseball tourney. looking for family friendly with TONS of space for 12 hungry 10-12 yr old boys... and booze for the exhausted parents! lol
Pizza Tossing Places?
Anyone know of a place in NoVa or DC Metro where they put on a great pizza tossing show? The Visa commercial has my 1/2 Italian son fascinated by it- it's be a neat thing to surprise him with, maybe take his whole baseball team to enjoy! Hey Mambo! Mambo Italiano...
Group Dining in Sterling, VA? Any ideas?
O'Faolains is great Irish and pub fare. Large, full bar- fun atmosphere!
ISO American Food: Reston, Herndon, or West
I can help you in Ashburn and Leesburg:
Village Grill is quite good- buzz time trivia, simple but tasty weekend brunch menu, good entrees! www.villgrill.com
Not your Average Joes- it is a chain but a small Mid Atl Coast one. excellent.
The Original Steakhouse- 2 or 3 locations- good solid steaks, chicken and sandwiches...
Sunday Buffet Brunch - VA or DC
i'm throwing the LoCo hat into the ring with tuscarora Mill- aka Tuskies- in Leesburg. Spectacular brunch and buffet that doesn't try too hard to impress with pretentious frippery- it's just THAT good that the food speaks for itself! I have become addicted to the applewood bacon paired with the warm home made bread pudding... sinful. the Bloody Marys are perfect and served with a colossal shrimp curved around the glass. Now that my 10 year old has tasted organic fruit from Tuskies I can no longer buy regular produce for the house! i could have worse problems....
this is a brunch buffet worth driving to- Sunday best or Stauraday night's jeans- families and business meetings- the entrees are diverse and delish.

A blind date in Centreville
how about Ato Plaza? Bar is separate from dining area, they can choose bar, tapas or upstairs for dinner. nice atmosphere, some dishes i really like, some i think are so so. but the mojitos are excellent and- let's talk about what's MOST important: the lighting is FLATTERING!

hope it works out the way she wants it to!
I need help... I need steak... CHEAP!
Original Steak House in Ashburn (Broadlands- corner of Claiborne and Broadlands Blvd) has great steak for a "lower then Morton's higher than Sizzler" price and KIDS EAT FREE ON WEDNESDAYS!
Dreaded IAD overnight: where to eat nearby?
the Wegmans plaza now has Pei Wei, cheeburger Cheeburger, Z pizza and a few other restaurants, nothing FOODIE-worthy though... just down the street though, less than a mile away is a plaza with 5 guys burgers, excellent, Cafe Rumi- Sandwiches, gelato, fresh baked goods- EXCELLENT, Sorrento Grill, very good Medditerranean Kabobs and such... and Otani, Japanese steakhouse ans sushi- also quite good! Maybe a shuttle would service the plaza since it's pretty close!
quick and delicious near 930 club?
we actually noshed AT the 930 last time we went- surprisingly good panini sandwiches! gotta be there early- it took awhile to be served, but it was passable as far as bar/club food goes....
14th and U- Tabaq bistro- excellent Mediterranean mezza, glass encased rooftop bar with a gorgeous panoramic view of DC... great import beers and a variety of mojitos and vodkas...

HELP - Need suggestions for an early dinner in the Princeton area
YEP- just ate at blue Point Grill last Saturday and it was fantastic. fresh fish, stone crab claws, raw oyster bar- they have a different menu every day. we had monkfish medallions and they were the meatiest most tender hunks of fish i have ever eaten! the wilted spinach is also very good, especially if you add a squeeze of fresh lemon. they have a few land lubber dishes as well, but the fish is the highlight.
it's BYOB, no corking fee, which was nice! you can call ahead Mon - Thur but not on weekends. if you want fresh, well prepared seafood- it's not a fancy place but it is really really GREAT. their key lime pie and Vanilla Sea Salt Ice Cream are also delicious. www.bluepointgrill.com
ask for Simon- he's an outstanding friendly waiter. tell him Aphioni sent you! :)
Dining in/near Piscataway NJ
thanks! and thanks for the recommendations- we ended up in Princeton at Blue Point Grill and it was spectacular. Only a 30 minute wait, delicious tender monkfish, the best key lime pie ever, and Vanilla Bean Caramel and Sea Slat ice cream- just, wow.

U Street Corridor dining-
any suggestions for deliciousness down there? not fancy, but not pizza on the corner either. :)
lunch in leesburg or middleburg
Leesburg- tuscarora mill (www.tuskies.com) is excellent. not huge portions at lunch, which is a good thing- imho! They have a fantastic Sunday brunch as well, everything from salmon, roast with mashed potatoes, roasted eggplant, frittatas, tarts, fudge, bread pudding... an endless opportunity to be a glutton. :)
New Restaurant in Centreville, VA?
went for lunch with a group of cowiorkers, we were in a semi private area upstairs and it was fantastic. excellent service, tender spare ribs, great drinks! pricey, but i'd go again.
Any good Virginia/Maryland vineyards?
we really enjoyed both Doukenie and Chrysalis in VA- both times we were part of the final tasting of the day and the pours were flowing like there was no tomorrow! both friendly and beautiful grounds, excellent wines, and fun with friends.
Help QUICK! MD girl needs help in VA
wish i had seen this earlier- i'dve sent you to O'Faolains for fabulous Irish fare!
Harrisburg-Hershey-Lancaster Area
we had an amazing meal at fenicci's last night- homemade pasta, i had their lasagne which is such a gi-normous portion, you get a certificate if you eat the whole thing! i am sad, proud, embarrassed and pleased to say that i did indeed EAT THE WHOLE THING. cheese, sausage, fresh noodles, deep, delicious mushroom ragu- how could i NOT?? (you can choose from marinara or meat sauce as well.)
my husband's chicken parm was a pounded breast, not a chintzy patty- with a generous portion of spaghetti, and my son had a meatball with his homemade ravioli as big as his fist and tasty as can be. it was a bit of a wait, but well worth it. excellent service, and damn good lasagne.... less than 2 miles from hershey lodge.

Birthday Dinner for 8-10 Twenty-Somethings in G-Town?
i secind Mie N Yu. Fun Atmosphere, great tapas and drinks, ultra cool bathrooms! :) great location too.
Wine store in VA
there's one ion Great Falls- can't think of the name, off of Georgetown Pike. not a huge store like Total Wine but excellent mid to high end selection, hard to find Brunellos & Multipulcianos.
Here in Ashburn WineSith is fantastic. Syrahtica- what a cool wine!
Recs for Indian food in NOVA/DC?
in Ashburn, my Indian friends enjoy Mirchi- they say it's more authentic than the more popular (i.e., american-ized flavors) Indian restauarants in town. I haven't tried it yet- the last time I had authentic Indian food it was in Manhattan and I cried thru the whole meal because I thought I could handle Chicken Vindaloo.... wooo! so while I can only recommend it by proxy, I DO want to try it soon. I just won't make the mistake of thinking I'm srong enough to handle Vindaloo at a REAL Indian restaurant! :)
