Hi, we are spending some time in St Cyprien, have been before but this is the first time we have had a car. We love the back streets of Perpignan and have explored a little in the area previously by bus. Does anyone have any tips they can share about restaurants, bars and foodie places not to miss in the area? We eat almost everything! If anyone can help we would really appreciate it.

Hey. If you are staying near London Bridge station, may I recommend a Turkish place at St Johns (big train not undergound and only about 5 minutes from London Bridge station by train and then a 3 minute walk) called Meze Mangal. If you're not familiar with Turkish food, I heartily recommend you order the Lahmacun (v thin pizza type thing (but soooooo much better) with minced lamb) and a mixed kebab from the open grill. Various meats, kidney etc with a good salad. Sounds basic but is very well executed. Both will come to less than £15. Definitely a local's place and you may need to call ahead and book. Happy to give more details if you require. Don't tell anyone, it's busy enough as it is ;o))

Hmm I spoke to a friend about it, and they thought it might be this "lavash" and brought me some from an eastern european deli place, but it isn't, what they got me is round and thicker, more like a tortilla.. Having googled the thin Lebanese bread I'm sure that's what I'm seeking and will be in London looking for it tomorrow.. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Thanks so much, yes, it's paper thin. Never been to a Lebanese restaurant or deli so no wonder I haven't been able to find it! Do you know of such a deli in London by any chance? Might not be the sort of thing I can easily find on google, but will try ;o)

I wonder if anyone can help. I used to buy in Asda a vacuum packed square packet of very thin type of wraps or flatbread. I think they were actually round but packed into a square package (folded over) but a huge round cicle, very thin. I seem to recall the only ingredients were flour and water. Well, asda stopped doing them and I must have asked in over a dozed greek, turkish, cypriot type shops and no-one knows what I'm talking about. If only I could even know the name of them it would help. If anyone knows anywhere in London that stocks them, I'd be so grateful!

Hi, yes it was the Pork Store on Haight. Superb.

Keep an eye out for "JD Wetherspoons" pubs..they are all over London and have good pub food with a wide selection which should please the whole family and at reasonable prices. Also a good range of beers, real ales and wines. Also "Nandos" which makets itself as a Portuguese chicken chain. Go for the half a chicken combination meal per person, and soft drinks are unlimited (just like in the US), for the marinade go for at LEAST the "medium hot"..combination includes chips/rice/corn.coleslaw etc. They also serve beer and wine..Tatsy and laid back..

Hi, I wanted to say a huge thanks to all those who recommended breakfast places to us. We had a fantastic time in SF. We went to Art's and to the The Pork Store. I want to say a bit about each. Art's was really friendly, the eggs and the breakfast in general was really great. The hash browns came already coooked in a kinda rectangular thin sheet and then reheated on the griddle. Very crispy, which I liked but my husband did not.

As for the Pork Store...I have to say a 10 out of 10!!! We went a number of times. Service was fast and friendly. The hash browns were done as a huge pile of potato on the griddle and kept on the go as people ordered, which gave a crispy edge and soft inside..eggs and sausage very nice..I had the special breakfast with pork chops once which was huge and very tasty. This has to be one of our all time breakfast favourites in the whole USA...Again, many thanks.

Huge thanks for all the responses. We've been to SF before but we'll only be there a few days this time so it's great to know a few places. We usually stay on Lombard and go to Bechellis but they have country style potatoes not hash brown. We will definitely go to Art's.

Hi, we will be in SF, my husband has a real thing about USA breakfasts. He loves Waffle House for their hash browns but I know there are no Waffle Houses near SF. Does anyone know a place where they have hash browns made with that shredded or grated potato and then scattered on the grill? And good sausage patties?

I really appreciate any help anyone can give.
