Has anyone been to the TABLE Restaurant in Sarasota??
The Table on hillview (behind the hospital) closed several years ago. The Table Creekside is the basically the former Table reincarnated. The chef is the same and the menu is very similar, the great rolls included. The Table Creekside is located on S. Tamiami Trail in the Phillipi Creek Village.
just found a bakery in Sarasota to die for !!!!!!!
Shoshanna88 we agree again. I find the two to have very different styles, OLL being more European. OLL makes a nice fruit tart. I do prefer the bread at Small Batch, but that is my personal preference. My husband raves that it is the best bread he has ever had. It's nice to have quality, locally owned businesses to support.
just found a bakery in Sarasota to die for !!!!!!!
Shoshanna88, I could not agree with your more. Everything I have had has been excellent. I find myself going back a couple times a week for fresh bread, the challah is excellent and the french also. I always pick up an extra little treat for myself and I have never been disappointed. I have tried the muffins, macaroons, assorted cookies, brownies, Italian nougat, carrot cake, and honey buns. The quality has been very consistent. I hope he continues to do well, Sarasota needs a good bakery.
Sarasota Decisions, please help???
Saturday night we enjoyed a new restaurant called Indigenous, the emphasis being seasonal and fresh products. The menu is a little limited, but our meal was excellent. For starter, we had the 3 boys farm baby greens and the parmesan beignets, which melted in your mouth. We both had a fish special, my being flounder and my husband a tuna. It is located in Towles Court. It the same location as the old Canvas Cafe and also the same chef. The Canvas Cafe had been one of our favorites, so I an glad to see the location and chef back in business.
Need a Sarasota Dinner Rec for Tonight...
I am pretty sure Cafe Bologna closes for a month sometime around August or Sept. You may want to call first. Derek's Culinary Casual, downtown, is nice. We had two very nice meals there recently.

What time to reserve for pre-theatre dining?
My daughter and I are visting New York for this week for the first time. We are seeing Wicked on Friday the 19th. I have made reservations for Fig and Olive Oil (10th East 52nd st) for 6:00pm. Is this enough time prior to the show? Thanks!

Breakfast in Sarasota incl. Longboat Key
We have eaten at Word of Mouth for years and have always has great meals. The fresh fruit is wonderful. It's as if each serving is cut fresh. It is popular so there is frequently a wait especially on the weekends and in season.

Dress for Zuni, A16; Ice cream in SF; Quick dinner in Union Sq
My husband, 14 year old daughter and I will be vacationing in SF next week. We are traveling from Florida. I have been searching this board for the past several months and have a couple specific questions.
1. We have reservations for Zuni Cafe and A16, Sunday and Monday nights. What is the dress for both this restaurants? Will my teenage daughter be comfortable wearing nice jeans?
2. We are staying in Union Square near the corner of Powell and Bush Sts. Any recommedations on good ice cream near our hotel, or near Zuni or A16? Will will be using public transportations, so within walking distance.
3. We will be arriving at our hotel Sat evening about 7:00pm (10:00pm our time). I am looking for a place were we could get a quick bite - sandwich, pizza, etc. I used google maps and found Uncle Vito's pizza very close to our hotel. Any experience with this restaurant? Their online menu is for delivery, can you eat in? Or any other recommendations for a quick, casual meal in the area.
Thanks for the help.
Need a great restaurant in Sarasota
We tried to go to the Southgate Gourmet Friday evening, but they have closed. The sign on the door said "the fat lady has sung." To bad, recently discovered this place and really enjoyed it.
Southgate Gourmet Review, Sarasota
After several months of "we should try that restaurant", my husband and I finally made it to Southgate Gourmet last evening. We also had a very enjoyable meal. We started with the cheese plate. My husband had the special ,a striped bass. I had the NY strip. We ended with the smores. I thought menu was very creative. and unique. The restuarant's focus is organic foods. The service was very good. Like the above poster, the restaurant was not very busy. When we left about 8:00pm, they were only half full. We will definitely make a repeat visit. I can't think of a better meal I have had in Sarasota in the last year.
Southgate gourmet in Sarasota
I have not eaten at Southgate Gourmet, but it's on my want to try list. It is a gourmet market and a restaurant. I stopped in a couple of months ago to look at their menu. The establishment has deli cases on one side and tables on the other, surrounded by wine racks. I thought the menu looked very interesting. Please post your experience.
Savory Tart
I need to make an item for a Holiday potluck luncheon (husband's job). I am leaning towards the asparagus custard tart from epicurious. My husband thinks this is to foodie. Any suggestion for a savory tart that I could cook that morning and can be served at room temperature? Thanks!
D.C. Trip report (long)
My husband and I were in Washington from June 30th thur the 4th. After searching this board, and others, we made reservations at several restaurants. Friday night we ate at Corduroy. I had the Halibut with lemon sauce and a potato leek salad. The halibut was perfectly prepared. My husband had Salmon which was also delicious. We both had salad, mine baby greens, his micro greens, which were extremely generous. Service excellent.
Saturday night- Komi- what can I say which hasn't been said on this board- Wow! Komi was wonderful. The first course was at least seven small tasting. The roasted date was out of this world. I had the lamb, my husband the tuna. Everything was excellent. The service was fun and attentive. The highlight of our dining in D.C.
Sunday night we met my sister and brother-in-law at Kinkead's. We probably would not have chosen this restaurant on our own, but went with their reccommendation. We were very disappointed. I had the house speciality, the Salmon. My husband had Mahi Mahi, which was a daily special. Both were overcooked. The flavor combinations were underwhelming. We had a gnoochi appetizer which was very oily. Service was average.
Monday night we headed to Zaytinya. We were very pleased with this choice. Loved the goat cheese wrapped in grape leaves. We also liked the mussels in tomato broth with feta and the crab cakes. My husband had the Fattoush salad which he raved about.
Tuesday the 4th we had no specific plans. Our criteria was casual and close to our hotel. We ended up in the Red Sage Border Cafe. Huge disappointed. My husband had the chicken enchiladas which were passable. I had the adoba chicken quesadillas which were not very good. Would not recommend this restuarant.
The other places we ate were the Woodley Cafe and Old Ebbitt Grill. Both for breakfast. Both were ok, but nothing more. We also had lunch at Gordon Biersch. My husband enjoyed the beer. The food was fine for lunch fare.
Thanks for all the great recommemdations on this board. We enjoyed eating our way through D.C.
