Trader Joe's New Product Guesses

More like a wish or a request for a new product....what about ready to bake bagels along the lines of the frozen croissants? That should be doable, don't you think? Fixed up through the boiling stage, frozen and ready to thaw and bake.

Yup. Invite them over.

Nutribullet RX! Is it really any good?

Thanks for the info. I probably wouldn't use the soup function either.

I have the Nutribullet Pro or whatever it is. Love it for my morning smoothies. I have no experience with the Rx. How is is different?

Kitchen Sink from Costco?

Does anyone have this particular kitchen sink from Costco? I bought the display model yesterday and would love to hear from anyone who has been using it. Thanks!

What are the best store bought flour tortillas?

I checked their store locator and it seems like they are in a lot of Walmarts, too.

Southern Breakfast YUM!

Liver pudding or livermush is very common in Western North Carolina, particularly around the Marion/Hickory area.

Why aren't my waffles crispy? Help!

Usually when things throw sparks when they are unplugged it's because power is still flowing in the unit. Very odd that there wasn't a way to turn the heat level down. Design flaw!

Okra - minimizing the slime

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but... I ended up with a large amount of "vacation" okra last week. Hesitant to throw it away, I made this recipe found in a google search. It calls for soaking the okra in white vinegar to minimize the slime. It seems to have worked though I did taste a faint vinegary flavor - which I actually really liked in the dish.

Does anyone know The Farmer's Daughter in Chucky TN?

I know people who have been there but I have not. They rave, but I doubt it's of Chowhound note. But I'd try it.

My Aldi experience!

Unfortunately, I didn't go on the fruit side of the produce aisle due to some lady blocking the way. But I didn't need any anyway. But I'll check next time!

My Aldi experience!

My Aldi experience of yesterday: Bag of spring mix (super fresh, unlike the other grocery store I'd been to earlier), cilantro (again, super fresh), frozen flounder fillets, green onions, 2 qts white vinegar, taco seasoning packet, smoked turkey for sandwiches, 2 avocados, half gallon organic milk, can of baked beans, 2 nice silicon high heat spatulas. Total came to $23.98.

That's a typical visit for me.

Learned the tomato trick on Pinterest a while back. Works great, unlike a lot of Pinterest tricks. ;)

My Aldi experience!

This seems to be legit. You have to jump through a couple of hoops though. And I'd be hard pressed to spend that much at Aldi's.

Getting Rid of ANTS!!!

So, do you think the vinegar attracted them? Was it distilled white vinegar? Curious.

I recently bought a retirement house and have been doing a lot of work around the exterior and have seen a lot of ants outside, but not yet inside. Will avoid vinegar as a deterrent, I suppose.

I'd like to know this as well. I bought three bottles today, one for my brother and one each for me and my mom. Not sure if my mom would be able to take a lot of heat...

My Aldi experience!

I've been going to the grocery store for the last 60 years. I don't need much service at this point, I have it down pat.

I shop Aldi for some items, the supermarket for some, Trader Joes, local farmer's markets for others. I am allowed to go to more than one place.

Asheville Restaurants for 9 days in June. Thoughts on picks?

There are tailgate markets almost every day of the week somewhere. You can check the Local Foods website for a schedule.

If you are only a name brand shopper, then Aldi isn't for you. Trader Joe's won't be either. Just a heads up about that.

More for me!

Okie Dokey in Candler is drive up only unless you want to eat at a picnic table. I think they have some.

And I agree with Miss Piggy, it's my favorite, too.

Thanks for the link. Good information on a number of things.

I agree about the Cheddar Bo. Look blasphemous to me, too.

Eastern NC cheese biscuits

The links to the News and Observer are dead now so I must ask... are these biscuits that the cheese has been baked into or is the cheese added afterward? I'm in Western North Carolina so I've not had the opportunity to have one.

Bojangles has been advertising some sort of cheddar biscuit lately. I'm assuming this isn't the same sort of thing. Correct?
