Stephen Av. "Specials"

I was at Blink last week and when I called to ask about parking, they said if I parked at the Telus Convention Centre, that they would give me a parking voucher. It made it easy, not having to drive around to find parking.

Chow in Downtown Calgary

Don't forget to try Blink Restaurant & Bar on Stephen ave. You're looking at the same price at Divino's, but more food focused. All organic and seasonal products, even better than River Cafe, though you can't beat the ambience at River Cafe. Tribune is nice for cocktails and wine, but not so much for food, and Centinis is nice, but you're going to spend quite a bit of money there.

Calgary High-End Prices

The prices in this town can be atrocious, especially paired with bad food and bad service. Alloy is well priced, nice room, but the food isn't fabulous. Much nicer than Tangerine and Seven, which are severely over priced with terrible food. Divino's is always good value, as well as Blink, next door. You're paying more for Belvedere but it has a nice lounge.
I went for dinner in New York at Daniel and spent as much on a world class meal as I have spent on an average meal in Calgary! Maybe Daniel should open a restaurant in Calgary! I agree, Les Halles was definately NOT good. Have you been to Union Square Cafe in NY? Probably one of the best restaurants in the city.

Belvedere Splurge

Apparently the chef at Blink has created a tasting menu for their new private dining room. Has anyone tried it yet? Their food is the best I've had in the city, but I have yet to spend 3 hours on 7 or 8 courses there.

Blink Restaurant's renovations!

Has anyone been to Blink Restaurant & Bar in Calgary, since they reopened after their kitchen renovations? We walked by the other night and it was packed, it looks way better! The hostess told us that they're building a bakery next door! The room and menu looks great.

Best Cocktails and Dinner in Calgary?

raw bar has an excellent bartender to make great lemon drop martinis!

Best Cocktails and Dinner in Calgary?

first off, ming is alright for drinks, but nothing else, and avoid jaro blue at all costs! divinos is good for wine and cheese. next door to that is blink, which won 9 best new restaurant in canada and avenue magazine voted it best restaurant and late night spot. they have pretty good martinis, but the food is amazing. also, alloy is a beautiful room for cocktails, but don't eat there!

tangerine

Blink isn't a supperclub anymore. it changed ownership in august and brought in top chef andrew richardson, previously of araxi in whistler, as well as cioppinos and west in vancouver. the food is phenomenal now!

Jaro Blue- Calgary- Outstanding!

went there for appies and drinks on a thursday night. thought the room was interesting, different for calgary. drinks were great, wine list ok. unfortunately the food wasn't all that. the fries tasted stale and it didn't have any vegetarian food! who knows where to get high end veg food, not the coup!

Alloy

where to start. the first time my partner and i went, we sat at the bar and had a great martini but just average food. the room is gorgeous but the food is seriously lacking. the risotto was a lump of peppery goo with tuna that smelled like it had been sitting out for a few days. the second time we went, we waited at the door for 3 minutes before anyone said hello, which felt like an eternity. we had the gyoza, which came out as a lump of meat and fried wontons where the server told us it was "deconstructed" gyoza. why didn't the menu just say that then? the thai beef salad had a hunk of limp beef about 7 inches long in the middle of the dish. not very appealing.
i would go back for cocktails and enjoy the room, but that's about it!

Dine Out Calgary 2008

We went to Blink for Valentines day, after hearing so many good things about it. The food was to die for. Try the souffle and arctic char, also the chocolate tart is decadant. Definately the best restaurant I've eaten at in Calgary. Good martinis as well.
