Best place to stop between Dallas & San Antonio? We're going to take a road trip this spring to San Antonio and I'd like to stop somewhere good to eat in between. Where would you stop? It needs to be some place kid-friendly. |

San Antonio - Where to eat WITH kids? I'm planning a short trip with the kids to San Antonio. We'll be staying in the Riverwalk area, and already have breakfast & 1 dinner planned. I need to plan about 3-4 more meals (2 lunch, 2 dinner) with places that are child-friendly. Any suggestions? We're coming from DFW, so we'd like to try stuff that we don't already have here. |

We lived in Memphis for years and Commissary is one of my favorites. You have to get the chocolate pie - so good! Plus, they have lots of options instead of just ribs - bbq salad, bbq nachos (yum), bbq potato, etc. |

I haven't tried that one in Nashville. I'll have to put it on the list as we travel there a few times a year. Thanks! |

Bumping for new suggestions.... Of the ones we've tried, I like Celebration, but not Babe's (Seriously, no sweet tea?!) or Mama's Daughters (we tried the Plano location a few times - is there much difference between them?) |

Frisco line was consistently 1 - 1.5 hrs to get food this afternoon. We were there mid-afternoon (2-4). I'd expect it to be better when most people are back at work / school. |

I've heard 2-3 hours today for the Frisco location. |

DFW - Chocolate Cake? Petit Fours? I reread this post and wanted to clarify that I shouldn't have used the term sponge cake here. The cake part should just be extremely moist with a thin glaze icing. |

DFW - Chocolate Cake? Petit Fours? I'm still on the search for petit fours.... any new bakery suggestions? I tried Aston's this week and it was good (light texture cake with thin glaze icing, but the flavor wasn't perfect). I'll pretty much travel anywhere in DFW! |

Share Your Favorite Brussels Sprouts Recipe How do you know how long to cook them? I've done this twice & I'm scared that they are goign to overcook. |

Advice for First Time Thanksgiving Cook I'm planning on fixing cranberries to go with the turkey. I don't eat this so I have no clue what its supposed to taste like. I bought a bag of cranberries and plan to just follow the direction on the bag. If I do that tomorrow morning, will it be ready for Thursday lunch? I assume they need time to set in the fridge, right? |

Advice for First Time Thanksgiving Cook I'm hoping to do as much as possible ahead of time. Can you fix the green bean casserole the day before & just refrigerate it until its time to cook? |

Chicken and Sausage Gumbo Using Zatarain's Gumbo Mix......... I've made it in the microwave before and while I don't remember how long it took, you definitely watch it closely & pull it out to stir it every 45 secs or so. Definitely quicker than the stove. I'd suggest using a large clear pyrex measuring cup so you can watch it to make sure you don't burn it. |

Advice for First Time Thanksgiving Cook I love Central Market, especially their desserts. What rolls would you suggest from there? |

Advice for First Time Thanksgiving Cook What can I make ahead of time, besides desserts? Can green bean casserole or dressing be made the day ahead? I have hot trays, so I can keep stuff warm once its heated. |

Advice for First Time Thanksgiving Cook My go-to company vegetable is roasted asparagus. They'll eat spinach, and I'm sure they'd try anything else I fix. I've tried to roast brussel sprouts before but I don't seem to have the hang of it yet. |

Advice for First Time Thanksgiving Cook I'm hosting Thanksgiving for the first time & need to plan my menu. We've got the ILs coming for a visit - not too big of a crowd (6 adults & 4 children) to feed. I need advice on fixing the following: turkey, ham, cornbread dressing, vegetables. We've got the sweet potato casserole covered & I plan on fixing green bean casserole, the Paula Deen pumpkin bars as well as a pecan pie. Oh, and I need to fix bread (rolls), but I'd prefer just to buy some. Any suggestions on that? Anyone have easy recipes that are impressive? I want this to go well! :) |

Ok, I'm going to give away my cooking lack-of-expertise here, but how do I deglaze a pan with onions? |

I picked up a boneless pork roast and a boneless pork sirloin roast today. (I'm not sure what the difference is between the two, but one says "sirloin" and the other doesn't.) Anyway, I'd love some suggestions on a tasty, but easy way to cook these. A slow cooker recipe would be great, but I'm happy to cook them in the oven too. |

Please share: Petit Four Recipe I can't find anyone in DFW that makes Petit Fours to my liking, so I think I just need to figure out how to make them myself. Does anyone have a great recipe? I don't like ones that are just small cake with plain cake icing. I'm looking for ones that have more of a very thin (poured maybe) sugar icing with sort of an almond flavor to the petit four. Ones I've found that I like are from the Flour Shop in Franklin TN and Kay Bakery in Memphis. I know there are some other places in MS/LA that I like too, but I can't think of the names. |

Need to find someone who can make bbq sliders for a party If you don't mind putting it together yourself, you can easily buy pulled pork from Dickey's (or wherever) and put it on Hawaiian bread. Very easy - we've done this for parties at our house. |

Restaurants in Germantown, Tn? I would go for BBQ if I was eating in G'town. I love Germantown Commissary and that's the first place I'd go. Their chocolate pie is to die for. |

What are your favorite local, non-chain restaurants? Please skip listing the super high end places! I'm looking for casual places with great food that you don't have to dress up to go to and you can bring the kids with you. Oh, if you don't mind, please list what part of town they are in too. |

I find Best Thai (Frankford & the Tollway) to be my favorite in the Plano area. I like the atmosphere - the ladies that work there are extremely nice to my children and the appetizers (satay, spring rolls) are great. I liked Banana Leaf, but they are horribly inconsistent in preparing the dishes we prefer in terms of sweetness/spiciness, etc. Jasmine is good, but not great IMO ETA: So annoying - I can't figure out why this is posting twice. It's not showing that way when I edit it. |

Ok, my husband and I are headed to Vegas this weekend & going to the CMAs and the Love show (at 7, I think) while we are there. Any tips on how to plan our meal times? Any meal suggestions based on our locations? |

How much does brunch at Bouchon run? I tried to look online but it seems to only have a regular menu. ----- |

Yes, I've been reading this forum as well as a few others. I've got a list going of places but I need more suggestions ;) My husband says that he definitely wants to eat sushi while we are there. Is there anywhere you'd suggest? Preferably some place that has good alternatives for me, or perhaps somewhere for happy hour so I can just sit while he eats. I don't like sushi at all. |

I think we're going to skip steak places (we're in TX) and French food (because that's not really my thing). We love Italian, Thai, Seafood, pizza, and basic American food. My husband likes Sushi, but that is not my thing at all, so if we went somewhere for that, it would need options besides Teriyaki and Tempura (ick to both, LOL). Right now, I'm thinking we might hit a burger place for lunch one day (BLT or Burger Bar, maybe?). The Sunday brunch at the Palms looks interesting and the Country Club at the Wynn does too. I know we're going to be by the MGM Grand for a show one night & Mirage another, if that helps narrow it down. |

My husband & I are going to Vegas for a long weekend and need some suggestions on where to eat. We'd like a mix of casual (but excellent) for breakfast/brunch/lunch and a few nicer places for a dinner. Suggestions? We're staying at the Palazzo and will not have a car to get off the strip. |

Need help locating Trappey's Red Beans! Thank you! I checked the Kroger, Walmart & Target by me and while they carry other stuff (blackeye peas, etc), they don't have the red beans! |
