Shanti on Dorchester Avenue
We enjoyed it very much. The peshawary naan was a big hit around the able. Spinach and lamb are my big favorites in Indian restaurants, so the Lamb Shaag really appealled to me and it was very good. Meat samosas were good too. I'll definitely be back.
Shanti on Dorchester Avenue
I'm headed there tonight with a group. Any recommendations for what's particularly good?
Milton - quick good eats, friendly and comfy
Food wise, 88 Wharf is a bit more ambitious than the Ledge, but can be a bit inconsistent. The setting can't be beat, though, for the area. Abbey Park in East Milton is also fine, and about the same distance away from Milton Academy.
Lots of lamb offal at Market Basket
I imagine that they are also the innards of all the Easter season lamb that sold in recent weeks. Anyone an expert on freshness for offal?
Where to buy homemade pita
Not sure if anybody makes it locally, but the groceries along Mt Auburn St. in Watertown (Massis, Sevan, etc) generally have the freshest I've found in the area.
Gran Gusto and Pulcinella these days
After frequent trips to Gran Gusto, it's been more than a year since my last visit there. Is it still earning the consistent raves it used to get? And Trattoria Pulcinella... so up and down over the years...has anyone had any experience there in the last few months?
When is a Banh Mi not a Banh Mi?
To MC's point about context: in the last week I've had both the eggplant "banh mi" at Strip-T's and a barbecued beef banh mi at Banh Mi Ba Le on Dot Ave. Both really enjoyable, and worth their respective prices. Maybe a real banh mi is defined by the speed with which it's prepared: at Ba Le, the women make the sandwich in about thirty seconds.
Diva Indian Bistro
Sounds Israeli-style, in that you have a condiment bar to make your sandwich the way you want. Swank, is there a Boston-area falafel place you would compare it too, taste-wise?
Diva Indian Bistro
Finally! A Dutch style falafel place in Boston! Oh-- wait-- what is Dutch style falafel?
Where to buy bluefish pate around Boston?
Next door at the Huron Village Fishmonger they had some today as well. Caught it out of the corner of my eye, so I'm not sure if it was made in house.
Shishito Peppers
For the uninitiated among us, what is it about the flavor of these that makes them so great?
Strip T's increasing funkiness
After having that grilled romaine with oxtail (which I seem incapable of not ordering every time I go!) I had the house burger with miso. Wow. My new favorite burger.
Best coffee shops near red line T-stops in Cambridge
Simon's, which is about halfway between Harvard and Porter is very good.

Help us find a Cozy Tavern!
Hoolese is right-- James's Gate fits the bill. Also try the The Druid in Inman Square-- no fireplace, but great food and very warm and cozy. Duxbury may be too far, but the Winsor House may work for you. Decent food, very cozy, English-style feel, in a house that's a couple hundred years old.

Pizza party in Lincoln
Stonehearth in Belmont center? Or other options in Belmont--you can head straight out Trapelo Road from there to Lincoln.
Saigon Subs in Randolph
I work in Milton and have been checking out various Dorchester banh mi shops this summer. I'll have to add this place to my list.
Where to buy local corn within 10 miles of Plymouth?
Come to think of it, they do always seem to have a lot of corn given the small size of their field....
Where to buy local corn within 10 miles of Plymouth?
Crittenens' farm stand on the back road to Duxbury. They sell their own.
Edit: so, it's Cretinon's, and technically in Kingston. 86 Landing Road. Phone is 781-585-5531.
Favorite banh mi place on Dorchester Ave?
Had a good trip to Ba Le Bakery yesterday-- thanks for all the guidance. Language differences and the fact that the sandwiches can be ordered by number led to a hilarious Seinfeldian moment where they made me seven sandwiches instead of two. I thought I said "one number six" and she heard "six number ones" but at three bucks each, this was no hardship and made for some happy "second lunch" colleagues back at work.
The chicken, and special combo (essentially pig-four-ways) were what I ended up with, plus some summer rolls (good, though not great) and a container of pickled radish and carrot. Definitely will return, and also branch out into some other neighborhood spots. Maybe even do a banh mi and Speed's double lunch day.

Favorite banh mi place on Dorchester Ave?
Thanks, all. Sounds like we'll try Ba Le Bakery. Still, can someone give me a quick rundown of the difference between Ba Le Bakery, Ba Le Cafe, and Banh Mi Ba Le? Are they related?

Favorite banh mi place on Dorchester Ave?
My friend loves a good cheap sandwich so I've promised him a great banh mi close to where we work. What recommendations do you have for the Vietnamese stretch of Dot Ave?
Abba in Orleans--suggestions?
A work dinner takes me there tonight. Any experience or rec's?
Anyone been to Rock's Tavern?
Sounds like this place is making a lot of mistakes. But almost all the negative reviews are coming from first-time posters to chowhound. Please don't tell me you're all ganging up up on the place!
Esperia Grill- Terrific Greek-Moussaka and Pork Gyro in Brighton
Don't know about Toronto/Chicago, but I believe that Greeks were among various groups drawn to the higher paying jobs at Ford a hundred years ago. Though ol' man Henry was known for anti-Semitism, he readily hired Mediterranean and Middle Eastern laborers in Detroit.
Gonna hit Esperia for lunch tomorrow. Crispy-edged pork just sounds so...porky.
Your nominees for a Boston Baked Goods Hall of Fame
Come to think of it--Sofra's red lentil fatayer is a great thing anew each time I eat one.
