Yep, our experience exactly. Guess they became spoiled by their success.

[AUS] Chicken-fried Steak in Austin

Want a really good CFS - Marie Callender's! No kidding. Large, tender, flavorful, perfect breading, the whole deal. I've had it around town at most of the marquee locations, and they don't stack up against the CFS at the Marie Callenders near the Arboretum. May not be "cool", but damn tasty.

Best Breakfast Place In Town??

2nd the Original Pancake House, Parmer & Metric. Consistent, friendly, and enough pancake varieties to satisfy anyone. I like the migas. But don't get there after 9:45 am on a weekend, you'll have a long wait.

Byblos vs. Zorba's

Atmosphere update - we went back for dinner Sat evening and have concluded this will be a take-out only place going forward. The young guy serving up the food (owner apparently not on duty) yakked constantly with his buddy in the dinning room, who simultaneously talked on his cell phone to a third friend. TV set sitting on the floor blared away as well. Customers seemed an afterthought. Great food, but best enjoyed at home.

New bbq place in Round Rock

I've tried Rudy's, and it strikes me as one of those corporate BBQ places where the "experience factor" like butcher paper, cute signage, goofy slogans, etc trump the food. Johnny T's, while having a pleasant dining room, is all about the food.

Byblos vs. Zorba's

Byblos has delicious food, great variety of sides, authentically prepared. Be aware that it's in a deli setting, not table service sit-down type dinning. Food is served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. However, if food is #1 and atmosphere 2nd, this is the place.

Bush's Fried Chicken in RR,TX

Yep, went there for the first time a few day ago, and bland pretty much sums it up. Chicken tenders are large, but prices are too high and service at the counter indifferent.

Best BBQ in town

You're staying not far from County Line on the Hill, where you'll find great food plus a view. The beef ribs are the best in town. If you're in RR, you can try a little place across from the high school called Johnny J's BBQ, very good.

Lockhart BBQ

Smitty's for me, as I'm not one for the fatty brisket at Kreuz's. Plus Kreuz's is so darn big now. Smitty's has a better atmosphere, if you don't mind the lack of plates, forks, and knives.

New bbq place in Round Rock

Just picked up a meal for six (two family packs) with brisket, pulled pork, and turkey. All very good. You'd have to drive a long way from RR to find any better. The sides were delicious and varied. Creamed corn, who would have thought. And the tamale potatoes were a hit. Will be back.
