Best Burger in NOLA?

To me, Cowbell, hands down, best burger (with bacon and fried egg)...

Yo Mama's PB bacon burger would be next...

Haven't been to Company Burger or Truburger yet...

Port of Call is horrible...living off past glory only in my opinion...

Need a venue for a crawfish boil for a wedding reception

Outside along St Charles Avenue....

Two Sisters Pavillion in City Park could also work. I go there for several food events/year and it is nice with lots of parking...

A friend recommended Rosy's as a location with Boil Inc as the crawfish cookers...

LA Hound returning for annual visit, advice sought.

Yes to Coquette...one of down low favorites...

Yes to Willie Mae's thought get there for opening, otherwise you'll be waiting for ever...and that neighborhood is still in the process of post Katrina rebuilding....but the chicken is outstanding...

K-Paul's is also one of my favorites...

Green Goddess IS good but tiny....

Brigtsen's and Boucherie and Dante's Kitchen and Cowbell (you likje burgers? then go to cowbell, their other items while not necessarily Creole/Cajun are excellent, nonetheless) are my Riverbend area favorites....

Dick and Jenny's, Upperline and Lilette for Uptown dining....

Try Salu or Baru for tapas on Magazine (both delish!)....

Problem is, there are too many damned good places to eat in this town!

Visiting from LA (Los Angeles, that is!) Inexpensive French Quarter dinner for a group of 20-25?

Try Muriel's in Jackson Square....

Emeril's NOLA Restaurant....

I also had a private party at Herbsasint, outside of the FQ for about 25-30 that wasn't too bad...

Looking for a venue...

Muriel's in Jackson Square has several spaces that can be combined into one...

Also the Metropolitan is club just across the street...

Cocktails in NOLA

Cure is off the beaten path but worth it (though can be a little pretentious)...

Some others to consider: Sylvain, Patrick's Bar Vin, Swizzle Stick, Delachiase, Loa and Columns Hotel and Salu

Hope this helps...

I have seen many a crawfish boil at Audubon Park. Late April weather should not be too hot. Maybe you could call Audubon Park and they may have a list of caterers/crawfish cookers. I'll quiz some friends and will reply if I hear anything.

Put on yer reading glasses! It's Kukubura's trip report! (Mr. B's, Commander's, Gal's, Dante's, Dizzy's, Green Goddess, more...)

I would say pretty spot on on Cochon...whilst it remains one of my favorite places for comfort Cajun food, they are so popular now that it feels like you are being herded in and out.

Kudos and brownie points for Lil Dizzy's and Dante's Kitchen. Would love to recommend some other places next time you're in town.

Happy to hear you ate well and had fun...

Where to find 25 cent oysters in new orleans

I had oysters at Cooter Brown's recently and they were large, juicy and sweet. They weren't 25 cents each but they were big and tasty.

What to eat at K-Paul's?

Ate there recently; if they still have the beef over grits, get that!

Please help - New chowhound traveling to New Orleans with hubby & 2 teens.

Nice list of dining so far but I would recommend: Cochon, Dick and Jenny's, and Boucherie. All are also but dinner and lunch.

Try parkway tavern or Tracey's for poboys

Might as well check out Kermit Ruffins or Soul Rebels brass band. Try wwoz.org and click on music calendar.

John Besh's Luke Restaurant used to have them at happy hour (3-6 everyday) for .25 a pop bur the price may have went up after the spill.

Bagels and Lox

Go to Stein's on Magazine and Jackson...I get the bagels and LOX all the time. I got hooked on this when I lived in Boston and nobody does it better than Stein's in the city.

Anywhere I can get fresh local oysters by the sack?

Pretty much any seafood shop in the city will sell oysters by the sack; I've done it several times. I would see what seafood joint is close to where you are staying and call them up...

Best of Warehouse district and other musts

I've had really good meals at Rio Mar, La Boca and Cochon. Either should work well, though you may want to check out the menus and see if you think you're crowd would be into it first...

If you want to go a step down in price from the above, try the Sun Ray Grill...

What would you choose between...

While I love all of the above places, is there one place on that list that you may not get the opp to go to again? For most people, I would think Galatoire's is the one they've been to the least. I, too, am salivating over my last meal at Cochon!

Any recommended BYOB places in New Orleans?

I love to BYOB at St James Cheese Co on Prytania and Lola's on Esplande. Bring two bottles for Lola's, since they don't take reservations and could get busy (though you can drink on the sidewalk there...)

Herbsaint actually has a deal where you can get a three course or four course meal AND you can also add drinks (25/pp, or 40/pp for premium)...I recently did this for a bachelor party of 23...check out:

Can We Find a Crawfish Boil in late Feb/early Mar?

Big Al's as recommended below is fairly close to you and you would be able to sit and eat. If you get from one of the seafood shops, you could get your stuff to go (don't forget the beer and a big towel/blanket) and take everything out to the 'Fly' - some park land behind the zoo at the end of Magazine and have crawfish along the river...

Please help with so many choices!

I would try Cafe Reconcile for lunch....good eats at very reasonable price. Also Dick and Jenny's and Cochon would be awesome meals. Went to both recently and was blown away at each, especially Cochon - true Cajun flavor!
