Korean BBQ inside the Loop

I had my first Korean BBQ at Koryo Kalbi last night. I totally fell in love with the place and the food. But, I live in East Dallas and the drive to Royal and Harry Hines is a bit of a haul. Any suggestions for great Korean BBQ within the loop? If not, then where is the best to be had?

Better Than Boullion Query

Central Market has a ton of the stock base flavors. But, I've never really looked for anything else by the company.

Sorghum Syrup

Anyone know where I can get sorghum syrup in Dallas?

fresh fish/seafood DFW?

TJ's! And if you are in the Artizone delivery area you can get it through them and not make the drive!

Popcorn with truffle oil--how to?

The white is better, I think.

Popcorn with truffle oil--how to?

That's what I do, too. Mix the oil with the butter and then toss it all in a big bowl with salt.

Hit a dead end with my Italian Menu for large crowd

A cold pasta salad might be easiest of all. That, or a big pot of Italian Wedding soup.

October 2011's Cookbook of the Month will be THE SPLENDID TABLE by Lynne Rossetto Kasper

I need to break down and buy this book. I love Italian.

What were your last three cookbook purchases...Part 2 [old]

I have to say I LOVE that new Saveur book. The recipes are so easy and good. I've cooked more out of it than any book since I bought Greenspans French Table. I totally recommend it. Plus, it's full of beautiful illustrations. Some of the recipes are a bit less spicy than I usually prefer. But, that's corrected easily enough.

Nosh tonight

thanks for all the input! i agree in general that the food is very well executed. i didn't wake up in the middle of the night craving another bite of anything in particular, though. good price point. i wanted to be blown away a little more than i was.

Nosh tonight

I'm going to Nosh for the first time tonight... any thoughts, recommendations?

Arcodoro Pomodoro

I liked it. I can't say it was the best experience I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. But, it certainly was NOT thoroughly disappointing. The entree's were good and the service was excellent. We had a great time. I did a more extensive review of the meal on my site...

Going Friday night. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Il Cane Rosso Closed?

I'm having a feeling it might be a little crowded on 7/7!

Cooking/Grilling Tablitas

Any ideas on how best to do this?

I'm stunned.

Need a replacement Chicken place for Brothers in Dallas

It might not be quite as good as Brothers. But, when Brother's closed, we started eating Chicken House and really enjoy it.

What happened to Scott?

(DAL) First Time to Tei An - Advice Please

Thanks for all the info. Scott's pictures are amazing! I think we're going to go for the omakase. Brad Murano suggested that we let them know that we're new to this cuisine. I think that's a good idea. We would certainly end up with some soba if we do the omakase, right? And get to try a few other dishes as well. I wouldn't even begin to know what to order off the straight menu. I love "tastings" anyway.

(DAL) First Time to Tei An - Advice Please

So, I've heard it's wonderful and all, but I know nothing about this type of food. I wanted to see what you guys think of it and how I should approach my first visit. My husband said I can have anything I want. Is there a tasting menu? I can't find a website. I honestly won't know what to order, but I'm pretty adventurous.

Any advice?

Best Fish and Chips (Dallas)

My husband and I were wracking our brains the other day to try to remember where we have had good fish and chips. I'm talking the light, tempura like batter... not corn meal. Fried cod or halibut or something... not catfish or tilapia. Just the classic Brittish fish and chips. Any suggestions?

When Does Whole Foods Lakewood Open?

I'm dying for this place to open! Lots of progress. But, does anyone know when they plan to be open for busines?

Sichuan Ingredients

I just bought Fuchsia Dunlop's "Land of Plenty" and now I'm realizing how needy I am for the ingredients she uses in her book. Sichuan chili bean paste, fermented black beans, etc. Any suggestions on where I might pick up these ingredients? I live in East Dallas. Do you think that Asian market across from Jimmy's might have this stuff? I can't remember that name of that establishment and I've only walked through once. I need Chinese stuff!

inexpensive Sunday brunch?

Taverna has bottomless mimosas and bellinis for $5.00. Monica's Aca y Alla has $1.00 margaritas.

Anyone Tried Kazy's Gourmet Market? (dallas)

I've read a few things on line about this place and I'm wondering if it's still open? Anyone tried it?

Sushi Axiom on Henderson

Now that it's been open for a while, any thoughts? I have basically only tried the sushi, rolls and few appetizers and haven't been disappointed. Anyone been? Any suggestions?

Also, where do I buy sushi grade fish and roe for home preparation?

Hub Goes To Athens... do they have food?

I'm throwing it out there... Hubbard has to go to Athens for business. Is there anything to eat there? Surely, someone has been.
