New tavern/restaurant in Ambler (Race and Main St)?
We've been driving by the renovation of a building on the corner of Main St. and Race St. in Ambler, wondering what's going inside. The brand new door speaks to a pub or tavern, but it could be anything, really. Has anyone heard anything?
Experience at Ristorante Castello over the weekend...
Another negative experience... It was Valentine's Day, and our party of two couples is aware of the holiday's evening crowds, but this restuarant should have held up some reputation. We found R.C. by searching local BYOB's, and this came up as one of the top ten in Montgomery Co. We waited in the lobby, bottles in hand, then carried those bottles to our table only to then be informed of their recently acquired liquor license - no windowfront signage, no website notification, no reminder when calling in the reservation. The night went downhill as our waiter visited our table just three times: drink order, drink delivery, dinner order. The rest was taken care of by fellow staff. It was at least 30 min. between our dinner plates clearing to the time we realized the dessert tray was probably not coming our way. Our waiter had passed by several times with our table clear of any food or drink. With such a seemingly experienced staff of servers, a simple wave or nod would have been sufficient for the check; unfortunately we had to flag down the host/manager to pay. We never did see our waiter at our tableside again. Food wise, the portions were more generous than the quality of cooking, though the sauces were very delicious. With two of our party having worked in the industry, it is a shame the service just did not show.
Valentine's Day - Montco or surrounding areas
Ristorante Castello is no longer BYOB. The should provide notification having only recently received the license.We had a horrible V-day service there, to top it off.
