Starbucks Pet Peeve
As a SB barista, you only use 1 machine to brew, so with 3 types it does take longer to get all done. At 7pm they are mid closing (starts at 3 or 4pm) and with probably 2 people working the whole night, batches will expire. They should ask you what you prefer but they might remember what you told them the last time so assumed it would be ok. I would suggest to the manager that they reinforce asking the customer in future.
Edit: Misread the OP, but the main point stands, it's not necessarily mismanagement when you run out of coffee before you can physically brew more. The way most stores run is according to how corporate tells us to.
BAGELS: NY or MONTREAL BETTER?
I would have to say that they each are better for certain uses. I prefer a Montreal bagel for a snack or toasted with cream cheese. NY bagels are better for sandwiches since they slice better and are soft enough to hold a bunch of fixin's in.
ISO Tofu Shirataki Noodles
Hi all! I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find Tofu Shirataki Noodles in Montreal? I've been away most of the past year and when I get back to MTL I've been asked to help my sister find them. In case you need a visual, here's a link to a website of a popular company that makes them: http://www.house-foods.com/tofu/tofu_shirataki.aspx
Thanks!
Oh, and tried to search the board, but no results :(
Banh Mi other than Manhattan
Pearl drinks are also known as Bubble Tea/ Boba Tea. The pearls or bubbles are tapioca generally, but can also be lychee jelly or various other jellies. Come in so many varieties, here's some WIki for you:

Schweppes Lemonade
Do you mean a fizzy lemonade? I have never seen one by Schweppes, but President's Choice makes one.
Bakery Pizza with Tomato Sauce
I like Roma in Little Italy, and they also have ones with toppings.

Hanashima has changed to Kagayaki
I concur, it is sesame based, and last time I was there in November, they served that sauce too. As far as I remember, they never really served apps or side-dishes - you go for the shabu shabu.
Jardin De Jade
Meh, it's okay...the food is better when it's busy and there's quick turnover. A buffet is a buffet, but it's better than your standard one I'd say.
The takeout buns and sweets are pretty tasty though...
Food Challenges in Montreal?
It's anytime you want to sign the waiver...really, you have to sign a waiver...
It's on the menu, but I forget what it's officially called, though you get your name put on the wall if you make it through 12 of them if I remember correctly.
Korean BBQ in Montreal [split from Restaurant Openings 2009]
I've heard that Korean restos often use kiwi as a meat tenderizer, does anyone know off-hand if this holds true for any of the places mentioned? I'm seriously allergic to it, so I have to be hyper-vigilant about asking...
Where did you eat this week ?
You know, it's not half bad if you're on a budget, can eat a lot and don't mind waiting. Always better to make several smaller orders than the largest they allow, because of the wait time. The AYCE menu is smaller than the regular one of course, here's a link: http://www.sushimoushi.ca/our_menu.php
I'm not usually a fan of weird or cooked rolls, but tried the ones my sister insisted we order and they were good for that style.
Pick's vs Buns: Burgers
Well I finally tried Pick's - although still haven't gotten around to Buns.
Hubby and I shared the Steakburger with smoked Gouda, caramelized onions, spicy ketchup, "steakburger sauce" (soy based) and coleslaw; and a kogo with honey mustard and chipolte mayo for dipping. It was darn good eats! Haven't tried those other burger places that have been buzzing, but we'll be back to Pick's for sure. We weren't really hungry so we didn't try the fries, but those will be on the next order.
Where did you eat this week ?
Starting last Saturday (Oct 31st): Little Sheep for Mongolian hot pot.
Sunday (Nov 1st): Dim Sum at Zao's on Acadie
Saturday (Nov 7th): Hanashima for shabu shabu, our first time there and really enjoyed it. Hubby had the beef + extra scallops, I did the seafood which came with a jellyfish appetizer. Had the redbean ice cream for dessert. Also shared a coconut bubble tea from Patisserie Harmonie.
Sunday (Nov 8th): Sushi Moushi for BYOW all-you-can-eat sushi.

Shuang Xiang BBQ or Golden Stone
I tried a few things my parents got one night as take-out, and that "Chinese Salad" is so addictive, it's a good thing they got 2! I couldn't help picking at it too, even after I slurped and got some of that spicy sauce in my eye. Ouch!
Oh, btw, the meat in it was beef :) Not-so-coincidentally, I think they ordered everything in the Hour review minus the skewers, because my sister brought it home one night after class. Everything was tasty, but I imagine far better hot out of the kitchen. Hubby and I are going to stop in for dinner one night as a result of this tasting, however.
Mmmm, that salad...
What's The Best Montreal Area Dim Sum Joint, Right Now?
Later than that, around 1:15PM maybe?

Just for the record, hubby and I thought Zao was okay, but some of the items weren't warm enough. Overall, we also found their steamed items better than their fried ones. If we're in the area and want some dim sum at the appropriate time, we'd go. But I don't think we'd make a special trek there.

Going to give Zao a shot on Sunday, I'll report back afterward!

I was thinking of going this weekend and was wondering the same thing - hubby and I are trying to get some folks together or else it's a box of leftovers for the dog...not that he minds!
Favourite Chinese?
Is that place still being built? I keep hearing of the opening date being pushed back...
Montreal sushi?
Have you tried Odaki across the street (I think that's how it's spelled)? I've heard mixed stuff about that place as well.
good buffets in the golden square mile/guy concordia/mont royal area?
That's Kalohin (Ka Lo Hin)...I've heard mixed reviews about the place.
