I agree..and the baba ghanoush is the best

Best dips/spreads for pitas and crackers?

TOFU DIP>>>
and you cannot tell it doesn't have cheese in it..

Firm tofu It has less water. 1 block
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
a table spoon olive oil
basil or coriander
fresh garlic to taste

process sunflower seeds til ground.Add garlic and herbs with oil ..Process til smooth but not liquid. . Add tofu and process til smooth..

This can also be used as a dressing if you thin out with oil!!!

Stumped for Mother's Day

Good idea..and pizza dough is easy to make..

What about some pasta course that had both eggplant and regular meat balls? That way you could keep costs down?the meat would be more of a side??? You could also make mac and cheese for the kids I don't know of any bland Irish food that doesn't include meat, but chicken thighs are reasonable. They could be cooked simply with olive oil and salt and pepper. You could serve roasted red potatoes with herbs and olive oil and what ever fresh herb you have. .

Grass-fed beef

You are in luck,,,The Glenside Farmers market (at Elcies) has vendors that bring grass fed beef to the market on Sat.

New Indian in Wyndmoor?

I love it..And the food is not only healthful (not fried and not oily )a lot of it is vegan..My daughters vegan and its very convenient. The lentil fritters are great and I just had veggies
with a cashew coconut sauce. Its right across from the 7-11 on Willow Grove before the firehouse.

Stuck on a limited diet. Help me be creative...

Roasted real beets are yummy by themselves..Just cut them up stick them in a pan and roasted for abut an hour.Brussell Sprouts are good this way Actually all vegetables are good this way although I usually use a little olive oil. Rice...I like whole wheat basmati rice...As far as soup goes, I don't know how tasty a soup would be with out any spices
Try cooking the bananas with the rice for a kind of rice pudding...

"original" gefilte fish recipe

Up until a few years ago I made my own gefilte fish.I don't know from stuffed,
but I used my Moms recipe...She used 3 types of fish..Yellow pike, carp and white fish. Equal amounts...I think thats what made her gefilte fish so good,,was the white fish...I used to have the fish person near me in Phila, grind all the fish and I used all the bones and scales..I put it all in a pot along with carrots onions and her secret was a few parsnips in the pot.The actual fish was chopped til puffy ( she actually said this on recipe) along with matzo meal

Self-Catering an event - tips? Recipes?

I am self catering my daughters 18th birthday in 2 weeks. And shes vegan...
To honor her I have decided to be totally vegetarian for the party ...I tried to think up a menu that she would be able to eat and that people who are not used to eating veggie would like. I have already frozen 2 very large pans of eggplant parmesan. I didn't fry the eggplant but cooked in oven til soft and then layered with already shredded cheese from Trader Joes. AND Trader Joes canned marinara is really good has NO fructose and passes the muster with my daughter. I made a small soy version for her.. ALSO already frozen is enough pesto for about 5 lbs. That will be at room temp although I could also heat I have frozen some veggie chilli and will make another batch and serve in crock pot although I totally lucked out at the thrift store and found 4 wire catering trays along with 6 large tin pans. I can buy small cans of sterno and put on table...I am also making small felafels that I can serve with small pitas and hummus. I have frozen felafels before and they can be reheated and taste ok..I will have a big salad with vvith various dressings and an assortment of breads...Some of which I will bake ahead .I froze home made pound cakes and will also make brownies. By the way I love to bake but I tried the Ghiradelli brownie mix and you cant tell the diff.
