Disappointing food trip to NOLA (very long review)

IT IS New Orleans! It's eclectic and crowded and dangerous and humid....and, and, and a WONDERFUL event! There ARE places that you will wait forever, and some worth that wait. Coop's CAN’T let minors in because it is the LAW! And you seem a lil naïve to think that you are going to be in NOLA and sit down to peeled and deveined grocery store shrimp?? And, with NO reservations??? I’m thinking that your money and time would be better spent (and with teens no less) at Epcot or maybe a Six Flags.

Looking for the best BBQ all over the south

Gonna hate myself in the mornin cuz it's a chain....Corky's in Memphis.

Lola Review - YUMMO!

Where to purchase fresh gulf shrimp?

And to be a bit more clear, I meant a place that we could stop at on our way out of town to bring some bulk back with us.....Scampi!

Where to purchase fresh gulf shrimp?

Good morning to all. We will be in town in late May or early June, and I was wondering if there was a place (store, vendor, back of a pickup) where we could get right off the boat shrimp? Thanks in advance!

Street food?

Hi all! Headed down in June (getting married...WOOHOO!) and would like to know if there are any street food vendors...It's our second time down and we will be planted at Coop's, but would like to sample the local fare on the street if available?

Thanks in advance!

Coop's

Sorry that yer sad LB, but say even you stated that..

"in a town where the liquor flows freely and you can post nude pictures on your windows for all to see"

..sooo you should understand that although NOLA is user friendly, it not really known for being a family oriented vacation destination. I do agree however that in THAT city, the last thing that they should be concerned with is a young person seeing someone play Blackjack.

help me: BEST frying & sauce pans???

Good call mpalmer6c! It pains me to read in here about the amount of money that folks are paying for equipment or that ANYONE would even entertain the though of a purchase from places like The Pampered Chef....Avon anyone?

Inna word,....Vollrath.

Coop's

I hope that luvbigeasy reads this.

Funny that you brought that up wilwrk. We were in NOLA and at Coop’s for the first time in May of 2006. We had asked a bartender at a club the night before where he would eat and well...So anyway, we are at Coops at the bar talking to Fay the lead bartender. She was very nice and was even kind enough to mention a few other local spots. While she was speaking to us one of the locals sitting across from us at the bar said "Don't miss Margarita Ville across the street!” At that point, Fay excused herself and went over to the woman and calmly asked her to leave.

She returned to us and offered this apology…

She thanked us for coming in and even for coming to New Orleans so soon after the storm, stating that every penny spent from tourist or local, in the Quarter at a dive or a tourist trap like Buffet’s Margarita Ville helps put people back to work. Many of the restaurants were still not open then because a large portion of the wait staff and prep cooks lived in the parishes that had been flooded.

Wilwrk made a good point and used “obvious” correctly.

On a side note, we will be married in New Orleans in June, and will DEFINITELY stop in to see Fay, and eat Coop’s fantastic food!
