Bay Area guy visiting Virginia/Maryland/DC area for a week...restaurant recs.

Wow...thank you for everyone's help. Looks like I have some researching to do but thanks for giving me a head start on it. We haven't booked our hotel yet so not sure where we're going to be near but for sure I'll be in Maryland on the weekend for a wedding. Anyone been to Kent Manor? Anything I should try around there?

Hi,
My girlfriend and I are visiting the area in August and I was hoping to get a few restaurant reccommendations. Would love to try some great places that uses a lot of local ingredients and just overall amazing food. Only thing I have planned is a dinner reso for the bistro at restaurant eve. Also a cool bar/lounge for drinks would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

must try - bizarre food?

I forget the restaurant name, but there's a place in SF chinatown that sells geese wings...they taste like duck wings, but bigger and a bit more gamey. Also, any chinese restaurant that has the roasted duck hanging at the window, go in and ask for a pound of duck head and necks, those are delicious.

Dear god and/or Chowhounds.....save me from Chevy's!

You should try balompie. Their original location is in the mission district, but I know they opened another location over by SOMA. They are technically El Salvadorian food, but it is amazing. Try their pupusa, their fantastic! Downside: they don't serve hard liquor, only beer and wine. But the amazing food will make up for the lack of margaritas. Call for reservation for large party.

Ad Hoc Dinner or Brunch?

I did not know that. That's good to know, all though usually after the prix fix, I'm so stuffed I can't even finish the dessert. But still, good to know. Thanks!

Ad Hoc Dinner or Brunch?

Vanessa,
What is this "all you can eat service" that you're talking about. I'm a huge fan of Ad Hoc, but living in the east bay means I can only go so often. Can you tell me more about it? Thanks!

Vegetarian Dim Sum in Oakland?

welcome to the bay....this isn't dim sum but for authentic flavors, try Golden Lotus in Oakland. It's vietnamese vegetarian food...google it and you'll find the address. It's one of the best asian vegetarian joints in the east bay so far...(granted i haven't been searching too hard) If you must, also try Cha-ya in berkeley. That's japenese vegan. It's not as good as it was 7 years ago but I think it's still worth a try for vistors. Hope this helps.
