Big Daddys 2?

those that remember Big Daddys on orchard Lk. rd. might be interested in that someone is opening a restaurant "New Big Daddys " at the NE corner of 7mi and i275! they were still under construction when I found it. they are calling it a "Mediterranean bistro" I hope they mean Greek! I miss the old
Big Daddys. Anyone know anything about this?

Friendliest bar in Ann Arbor?

being a GPS freak also...well done!! (i gather you like buddys pizza!!)

Need recommendations for Appleton Wisconsin

apollon was good(greek)..the japanese place was not..there was a strange bar/restaurant just a couple stores down the street from the japanese place that was darn good, don't remember the name but it will be obvious when you see it ..the interior is pretty crazy. it think it had a german bent menu

Korea House-Farmington, MI

we will have to give it a try! thanks for the info. We have been hanging out at bi bim bab in novi which we like very much.

DTW - RIP Seldom Blues

not surprised...it had serious problems when I was there

Assaggi surprise [Ferndale]

We visited Assaggi in Ferndale the other night. We have been a couple times before and each time a great dinner. This time when we went in the lady at the door asked if we "would like to sit on the patio"....we paused...looked at each other..thinking where?!? we said sure! and she lead us out the back door to the NICEST outdoor dining setup we have been to in the metro area!
What a gem! our dinner was great (as we expected) the service perfect as well. the Whole experience OUTSTANDING. just thought I'd write this in case there were others out there
that didn't know this little oasis existed behind the main restaurant.

where is Milos Cihelka?

the first time i went to the forest grill it reminded me of the 'shroom! everything was perfect
i said to my companion.."finally something as good as the mushroom!" but on subsequent visits it was not the same (insert frown face here)

where is Milos Cihelka?

I was hoping to hear differently...like he was going to open something new! Just wishful thinking. god how i miss him and the mushroom!

where is Milos Cihelka?

What happened to Milos!? Did he just retire? All I can find is some videos he has done and a million mentions of him by his apprentices.

Tomatoes in Detroit

a noble quest!!... difficult, but noble you might have some luck at the farmers markets a bit later in the season (thurs in northville) I have turned to growing my own to satisfy my addiction.

Forest Grill, Birmingham, MI

Update..well the first time was A+.. the second time (7/2/09) a "C". very unfortunate I was hoping for a place that we could count on. I guess it's just hit and miss. if anyone cares for the details let me know.

SE michigan- Liver & Onions?

update: Place to Try...Stonehouse in Escanaba...I know it's a long way but The liver and onions were the best i have ever had in a Restaurant!! Truly the best

Deep Fried Clams [Detroit]

there is a place called "franks tavern" off US23 near Fenton they used to have pretty good clams and other fried seafood..but the last couple of times they have been kinda small
maybe i just hit bad days..worth a try though if you're in the area.

Forest Grill, Birmingham, MI

we were there last month...a very short review: A+ we both look forward to our next visit!.

The Refectory, Columbus Ohio

you might like Jean Robert at Pigalle in Cinci.
i think its time for a return visit to the Refectory next time i'm in Columbus!

The Refectory, Columbus Ohio

well i can't say it's the best i've had in ohio. but when i was there, the food was excellent!
the atmosphere was a bit different (but not bad). anyway what i really wanted to say was:
excellent review!

Detroit Area Upscale Dining - 2008

of those you mentioned....The Lark is the best (IMO) although it's been a while since i've been there.

RO, MI Red Coat Tavern

zinc is owned by the same people as redcoat...really? would have never guessed!

Detroit: Michael Symon's "Roast" opening Oct 15th

Grand Rapids dining

i was at san chez 2 night ago...Most enjoyable!! we sat at the kitchen "bar/counter" a great place to be.. every dish that left the kitchen was shown to us and explained! everything we had was excellent! definitely will return next time in GR

Roseville, MI

saw the mention of dragonmead in another thread and stopped by...what a treat! a great place in an unusual setting. lazy bones is next!

Aji Ten in Canton, MI

yes i have been there..what i can tell you is this...the chef/owner is formally of cherry blossom in novi. his departure was a major loss for the blossom (imo) his creations were great!
he works mostly in the kitchen (as opposed to the sushi bar) where he is/was responsible
for some of the best food i have eaten. last time i was there they were working on getting a liquor license and i'm not sure if they have it yet or not. it's not a "fancy" interior but if your looking for food before atmosphere it's a good bet...thanks for the reminder!! i need to go again!!
