Where are the donuts?

I like Valley a lot too.

There is another good one in Crystal, just down the road from Valley, Douglas Drive and Medicine Lake Road. Really good and cheap. Always fresh. They have a great special on Mondays too.

Thai Chicken Pizza

I have tried CPKs version and do like it. I live fairly close to the MG location so it's not too out of my way. I miss the Edina spot because it was close to work and that's usually when I want it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thai Chicken Pizza

I finally tried Galactic's version last Friday and I agree....really the best so far. The sauce was really flavorful and the toppings perfect. I might even ask for extra sauce next time.

I also got an order of the Spin/Artichoke dip and that was really good too.

Favorite restaurants from the past

I think there was a Cicero's pizza in Brooklyn Center too, in the Westbrook Mall. I have been trying to remember the name, but I'm sure that was it. Same set up with the organ too.

Thai Chicken Pizza

I'm looking for a good Thai Chicken Pizza. With ingredients similar to this: Some sort of peanut sauce with a little kick, chicken, carrots, green onions, bean sprouts, maybe some zucchini.

I am hoping someone can help me find some good options. I know that California Pizza Kitchen has one (mediocre and there is only one in MG now), the Roasted Pear had a pretty good one, but only at the Burnsville location and that isn't very convenient for me, and I know Galactic Pizza has one but I haven't been able to try it yet, mainly because I don't live anywhere near the delivery area and whenever I think about stopping it's early evening and busy in that neighborhood and never any parking.

I would appreciate some new ideas.

Thanks!

Minneapolis-St. Paul Dish of the Month April 2012: Hot dogs/Sausages.

I like Kramarczuk's too, but Sentyrz is better and at least 50% cheaper. I wish I could remember all the good stuff I bought last summer. I guess this means it's time for a trip back.

Osseo meat market is pretty good too.

Minneapolis-St. Paul Dish of the Month April 2012: Hot dogs/Sausages.

I really like Sentyrz Market in NE Mpls. They have a great variety of sausages and they are pretty inexpensive for the quality. I had a bbq last summer and bought a variety of brats and sausages and everyone loved them. I remember really loving a bleu cheese brat.

Minneapolis Dish of the Month (April 13) - Nominations

So cracker/saltines were the only insincere suggestions correct? I think it's evident by the amount of participation that people enjoy this thread so I'm a little confused as to why bkmnus is so offended by two silly suggestions.

I've nominated Cupcakes a couple of times. Because i love Cupcakes. And I thought the City Pages top 10 cupcake list was ridiculous. But maybe I'll just start a Cupcake thread on it's own. I've been doing a lot of research.

Looking for a reasonably priceed brunch for Easter in the northern suburbs

I agree on both these recommendations, however, the 2 times I've been to Lake Elmo Inn for a holiday brunch I had to make reservations more than 6 months in advance.

more Popeye's!

I drove by again on Sunday and there was another huge traffic jam at Popeye's Brooklyn Park. Then last night when I went to Target, I noticed they had actually hired people to manage the traffic! There were about 15 cars in line. I didn't realize there was so much love for Popeye's in BP. It's not that far to Lake Street.

more Popeye's!

I just logged in to say essentially the same thing...I drove by Brooklyn Park tonight at 9:30 and there were about 10 cars in the drive thru line,...there was actually a traffic jam trying to get in and out. I decided to wait until the excitement dies down. Crystal still isn't open.

Remember the old Lincoln Del? (Bloomington, MN)

August Moon was there as late as 2001 or 2002...I used to eat there for lunch all the time when I worked over there. It burned down. They had the best spring rolls.

Yep...the Cooper was across the road before 394.

Minneapolis Skyway

I go to Patrick's once in awhile. I think it's good, but it's a little expensive. Not saying it's not worth it, just that I don't always want to spend $12 on lunch. I love their quiche. I'm not a big fan of Noodles and co and I've never heard anything good about Dinos. But we do have a good new gyro option about a mile east on 66th. Aida. Very solid gyro, falafel, etc. Reasonably priced and good.

I'm mostly jealous of being able to go grab something without driviing or putting on my coat. I hate leaving on cold days. And I wish there were a few places I could run and grab a slice of pizza or something quick and cheap.

Minneapolis Skyway

I'm jealous of you downtowners and find it comical the comments about not having much down there. I work in Edina. My options are a few mediocre and expensive chain restaurants, a Wendy's, Panera, Taco Bell and McDonalds. And I have to get in my car and drive to any of them. I'd love to be connected to a skyway full of options. And a farmer's market and food trucks in the summer.

I've always wondered about Milda's. I'll check it out. Everytime I've driven by they've been closed so I thought maybe it was more of a breakfast place.

I like Giuseppes too. I agree there isn't much else around there. There is a sports bar called Glory Days in New Brighton too, but I haven't heard the best reviews. Giuseppes is a good idea.

The only spot I've been to on the list besides DSpot is #5, the Spring Street Inn. I didn't think they were near as good as Dspot. i'll have to check the others out.

D Spot in East Metro

I was here on Saturday for the first time. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and I finally made it there. My experience is about the same as everyone elses, awesome wings, friendly helpful staff, horrible ventilation. Sadly it doesn't appear anything positive has happened on that end in the last several months. Saturday evening was really cold and windy and while I didn't much care for the blast of cold that kept hitting me in the back everytime the door opened, I appreciated that some of that smoke was able to escape. Everyone was complaining about it and my eyes watered the entire time I was there. Even though I live 30 miles away, I think I'll order take out next time. And yes, I will definitly be back. These were the best wings I've had anywhere. We ordered the following:

Buffalo - we needed a baseline and these were as good as any I've had anywhere. Nice and meaty, in a wet sauce but not super saucy. Maybe slightly spicier than your average restuarant buffalo wings. We ordered a side of the bleu cheese dressing and it was great too. Solid.

Tarantula - Really really good wings....like someone else said, you can't believe how much flavor is added by the fried garlic. These were the most mild of the wings we tried, but also the most flavorful. Just really great wings. I would go back for these.

Muay Thai - These were hands down my favorite wings. I would drive across town and brave that smokey haze any day of the week for these. I would say medium spicy, lots of peanut butter flavor, with the right amount of chili heat and chopped peanuts on top. These were sooooo good. Very saucy too. I can't wait to try these again.

Fries - The fries are awesome as well. I don't normally care for seasoned fries but these were really exceptional. The dipping sauce was also pretty addictive.

I can't wait to go back and work my way through that menu. In a perfect world, there would be a D Spot closer to home with a full bar. i feel like I could get a lot more of my friends interested in this place if they at least had a beer license. I'm also excited to try the burgers. i was chatting with some of the other customers and everyone was raving about the burgers.

P.S. the website still sucks but appears to work great in firefox, so if you're ordering take out and trying to figure out the menu, I suggest you use firefox and not IE.
