Rose Quarter Dinners

Hey, Folks, headed up to the Rose Quarter for a a show.
Looking for dinner somewhere close-ish to grab a bite.

I'd prefer something reasonably close as we don't have a great deal of time between arriving in PDX and the show.
Coming from the south, so places on the way into PDX are welcome as well.

thanks.

U.S. 20 in Idaho (and, I suppose, technically Montana)

BN1,
What's in Big Sky? If it's good, I'll check it out.

BN1 -
I start in Boston, MA and end in Newport, OR.
But since the board is split up by region, it seemed easier to split up the trip suggestions as well.

U.S. Route 20, East to West

nimeye -
Appreciate the route suggestion, however the goal is to drive U.S. 20 from end to end, so unfortunately that means the less interesting parts as well. heh.

I'll keep Bob's in mind, thanks.

U.S. across Mass.

I should probably make it clear, the towns I listed are just landmarks along the way to give people an idea of where the road goes. I'm open to stopping anywhere along the route.

thanks for the suggestions so far.

[pdx] Fish and Chips

Wow, forgot about this.
Ended up at Halibut's.

It was adequate.
While not mass-produced, the cod fish was definitely of the "3 small pieces" variety. It was decently flaky, though.
The batter was decent, not too thick, but not very crispy.

The chips were actually fries, though they had good potato flavour. They were somewhat luke-warm, however.

Tartar sauce? Well, I don't eat it so you'll have to make your own mind up about that.

All in all, a very average lot of fish and chips. It was incredibly spendy, over $10 for a few fish pieces and fries.
Unless you happen to be in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I'll be driving U.S. 20 West.from Yellowstone.
Looking for places within a max of a half-hour or so of U.S. Route 20 in Montana and Idaho.

I'm interested in chicken, sandwiches, BBQ, ice cream parlours, regional specialties, etc.
No real calling for Mexican or Seafood

thanks.

Not really sure how Wyoming is in the Southwest but ok...
So, I'll be driving U.S. 20 from East to West.

Looking for places along U.S. Route 20.

Some towns along the way:
Boston, Sturbridge, Marlborough, Springfield, Pittsfield.

U.S. Route 20, East to West

I'll be traveling on U.S. 20 through the Midwest.
Looking for places within a max of a half-hour or so of U.S. Route 20.
States are Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska.

I'm interested in chicken, sandwiches, BBQ and ice cream parlours.
No interest in Mexican or Seafood (though, that's likely not a concern on 98% of the trip. heh)

thanks.

Poughkeepsie/Dutchess County Delis

Yeah, Rossi's I've been to a couple of times.
Last time I was there (3 or so years ago?), I didn't see chicken parms or meatball subs on the menu. Maybe I missed them though.

Poughkeepsie/Dutchess County Delis

Well, it seems that I am heading back East for a bit and I'm looking for the Chicken Parm or Meatball subs I remember.
Consequently I'm looking for the Italian deli of my youth, you know the kind, family-run hangout, short order food, a deli case with some macaroni and bulk Boars Head. Bonus points for an impatient wizened owner holding court.

I'll be in the Poughkeepsie area, but am willing to travel most of Dutchess County as well as just across the river for the right kind of place.

Suggestions appreciated.
thanks.

Eugene, Oregon

Seconded.
Horrible. I was embarrassed to have coerced a friend into going.

[pdx] Fish and Chips

Heading up to Portland for a day trip.
I'd like to get some fish and chips, but I've got a few criteria that are seemingly impossible to meet in Eugene at least, hopefully Portland will do better.

I'm looking for actual hunks of Cod, fish sticks or patties need not apply. If it's rounded or shaped, I'm not interested. I'd like the hunks to be sizable, one 5 inch fish isn't going to cut it.

Chips need to be "chips", not fries. No waffle-cuts, rounds or shoestrings, they need to be able to stand up to some vinegar and salt.

The batter needs to be crispy, not breaded.

Bonus points for meals served in paper with wooden forks and local joints. I don't mind chains if they are worth it. "Beer-battered" or not is fine, so long as it's good. Pickled onions optional.

Going to be up by the expo center, so close to that is preferable, however, I'll travel anywhere in Portland and along the I-5 corridor to Eugene.

Please help me out, Chowhounds.
