If fully agree with you lydia77. The food is well done but way overpriced.

Benchmark - recent experiences?

Went last night. Made a 7:30 rez the day before. Place was quiet when we got there but quickly filled up. In short, the experience was very good. Dishes were very well prepared, service was good. I had foie gras and rack of lamb, which were both very good. Someone else had the wild stripped bass, which I tasted and was really really delicious. Another had a pork chop (double) that was also very good. The foie gras appy was very rich and flavorful, but a rather small portion. Did not have desert. I recommend trying it, but have to say it can be considered a little pricey.

Endicott chow

I second Consul's. Top quality dishes at very reasonable prices. Pan pizza is better than the grilled pizza. Veal entrees are much, much better than would be expected. The place was packed this past Saturday evening.

Sunset Park Chinatown: "Rice Noodle" Dim Sum From Scratch

Don't have an answer for some of those mysteries, but can only pose another one (for me, anyway). Anyone have any inkling why I've seen Asian people with hugh carts full of cans of Spam at Costco in Brooklyn? Do they have a major Spam jones, or are they using it in home or even restaraunt dishes?

Andouille sausage in Brooklyn?

This past Sunday in a pinch I used Boar's Head andouille (got it at Fairway) and mixed a quarter teaspoon of liquid smoke in a quarter cup of water and spinkled it on the slice sausage and let it soak in for an hour before starting my jambalaya. Turned out quite decently, maybe not acceptable to the purists, though.

Looking for Brooklyn Restaurant for tonight

Stone Park has slipped so badly that I stopped going there. Too bad, because it used to be a nice place with strong chow points.

Stone Park

Went on a recent Sunday and had a bad experience. Grossly undercooked branzino and my side of spinach never brought to the table. Waitress nowhere to be found to check on how things were. When I brought the situation to the managers attention, she agreed things were not as they should have been (almost reluctantly, though) and asked ME what I wanted her to do about it. She must have reamed the chef because he stormed out of the kitchen, looked at the cold fish, and bolted out the side door - slamming the door really loud and hard. At that point, I'd had enough and left. I think the staff get burned out by the volume at the seemingly all day brunch. There's always lines out the door. Still, no excuse.
p.s. didn't pay for the fish or the non-existent spinach. That was it. Really didn't feel like they cared too much to make any other amends whether it even be a glass of wine or another dish or desert - or something.

Sorry I can't help you on that, but I will say I've been hooked on Dinosaur BBQ sauce. Have been getting it at Fairway.

Wedding Reception Locations in Park Slope

Look into Prospect Hall (Prospect & 5th) and the Montauk Club (Lincoln and 8th). Can't vouch for the food or prices, just throwing them out there as possibilities.

Best fried chicken in Brooklyn?

I second the rec on Sidecar. It is top-notch fried chicken and worth a try if you're around the South Slope.

Schnitzel Haus in Bay Ridge

Went there last Saturday night for the first time. I'm glad I called in the afternoon because they told me they had two large parties coming in for dinner around 7:30 so we reserved for four at 7:00. The menu is quite extensive with traditional German items. I had the rouladen, which was good, but nothing to rave about. I didn't taste any bacon, and there wasn't much tomato. The gherkin pickle was the most evident ingredient in the dish. I would comment that our waitress was very good on this very busy night.

Sidecar on 5th ave in South Slope?

Went in for the first time this past Saturday and waited about 20 minutes at the bar for a table. Had a couple of Six Point IPAs to kill the time. Shared the mussels for an appy and had the fried chicken with mashed and collard greens. All was very good. Bar tender and waitress were nice too.

Kuntry Bickle: Yet another off-the-beaten path NYC Jerk story

Yes Polecat. I often hit the place on Lefferts and Rockaway (Island Cuisine? - not remembering the name) for rotis or the special of the day. This place wasn't mentioned in the VV review, but I like it better than other places. Take out only - just two chairs in the place.

Pepe's P & P (Park Slope's Best Pizza...Shhhh...)

Had a chance to stop in this past Saturday. He had three of four selections at the time, one being a great looking stuffed pizza. I opted for the Grandma slice - among the best I've had hands down. When I got there a Chowhound was taking a picture of the place. Was that you?

Top 5 Chicken Wings (IMHO)

As someone who made thousands of wings while working through college in Buffalo (Mr. Goodbars and No Names on Elmwood Ave.) I can tell you the best I've had are at 200 Fifth (Union and 5th Ave) and Bonnies Grill (Garfield and 5th Ave.) both in Brooklyn. The owner of Bonnies is a Buffalonian - and a big Bills fan.
