What is the Best Dessert wine?

While I have tasted many dessert wines including Canadian Ice Wine, Y'quem, RIesling and many Ports...the least expensive of all, and the most enjoyable, is Moscato. All of the above are wonderful but usually expensive. Moscato is more affordable.

Boston CHrs to Flushing Chinatown this weekend

I realize you are driving down, but I would not worry too much about the parking. There are the Municipal lots others have mentioned and some hotels provide parking. You must remember that Flushing is home to the Mets...if they are at home when you visit, parking and driving will be worse than expected. You can actually see the ballpark lights from Main St and 39th Avenue. The dining area of Flushing is not as big as you might expect, from Norther Blvd to the Queens Botanical Gardens which you can actually walk had so many restaurnats in a condensed area so you wont be disappointed. On Prince St, between 39th Ave and Roosevelt Ave is a place called Tasty& Spicy, dont miss it. But in general explore and ask around as you walk the streets. Enjoy.

Italian Sandwich

great and famous sandwiches can be had at Manganaro's on 9th Avenue and
about 37th Street....there are 2 stores next to each other...a think due to a family fallout.Try them both. The one on the right is more the old time Italian deli, the one on the left is line out the door fast service. Both are good. Manganaros is more than 50 years old. Check it out.

Italian Question

Born in Brooklyn to parents from Calabria and Naples...the spoon was optional, mainly because we ALWAYS had a piece of Italian bread in the other hand. It not only helped getting the twirling of the long pastas but got plenty of sauce on the bread which was great. Still use either. To each his own. Enjoy!

The U.S. Open...anything good to eat there?

Was at Mojitos last night...had a wonderful "Watermelon Mojito" the special of the day...$12...yikes but it was great...so good we ordered a pitcher at $38 supposed to contain 4 servings so the math made sense. THe pitcher was terrible, certainly not as good as the first drink...I complained and they were so nice about it. Took it back and redid it, and they were wonderful again.

We shared the lobster'cheese quesidilla, good but not worth it. But the Cuban sandwich was great with a spice jalapeno slaw...yummy. Of course all was overpriced, but, the Open is only once a year.

Caffe On The Green

The Caffe is housed in what was once Rudolf Valentinos home. He was a silent movie star of exaggerated romantic conquests. :)...Ive been their several times, they make great drinks and the food is above average. A little expensive but worth it, service is always great. I agree with JK...sit in the Piano/Fireplace room.

The U.S. Open...anything good to eat there?

In general their are some decent food inside the Food Court, expensive and jammed with people, hard to find a place to sit and eat. However, there is a restaurant called Mojito's, good Mojito of course and good steak sandwich and good Cuban sandwich. You get to sit outside or in, waiter service etc. Enjoy!

Aruba in January - 1st time there

We have been going to Aruba for a few years and loved it so much last year we bought a timeshare at the Marriott Ocean Club. We had previously stayed at the Hyatt Regency. The best thing about the Palm Beach area is the number of relatively inexpensive restaurants. Dont eat in HOTELS... across the street from the hotels/beach side are many restaurants. Dunkin Donuts, Sbarros, a Hooters and Benihana opened recently.
There are great places for ribs and gelato/cappucino/pastry bistros. Several good pizza places.

All you need to do is walk up and down the strip outside your hotel. Enjoy!

PS: see the replys to bikigirl on the first page...several hints there as well.

TAPAS in Queens

Has anyone found a decent Tapas restaurant in Queens. There are a few I tried who advertised Tapas but it was merely what they called their appetizers. Turned out to be faux tapas.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What do Chowhounds do for a living (besides eat of course)? [old]

Being fortunate enough to be born Italian in Brooklyn, NY, to a Dad who was a Master Butcher and a Mom whose favorite expression was "sit, Ill fix you something to eat", I became a foodie at an early age...*S*...tried to continue into Dads business until I cut my fingers too many times, so finished college and became a Sales Exec.in the IT World. Trived on business lunches and dinners..what a life *S*, so took food etiquette and wine courses to sell better at meals.

but all we did at home was talk about food, ...now I enjoy reading and posting about my favorite subject...FOOD...

Catch Me Up on Flushing Chinese!

I agree...Spicy and Tasty on Prince St. between Roosevelt and 39th Ave is consistently great. Im Italian but my wife is Chinese, and believe me it helps. But I see alot more American faces there since they were written up in the New York magazine, in fact it was one of the top 10 for Cheap Eats.

Joe's Shanghai on 37th Ave near Main Street is great also. Usually packed. But the wait is worth it.

Korean - Kim Gom Song on N. Blvd just east of Union Street, parking in rear, look for driveway between 2 buildings, its unmarked.

Enjoy.

Best Pizza in Queens ??

Try Il Vesuvio on Bell Blvd...good selection by the slice. Try their Margherita over the normal slice...the fresh mozzarella is worth the extra price.

Also, Marino's on 29th Avenue and 163rd St in Whitestone.

Can someone supply the locations for Nick's and Amore??

Thanks...
