Anyone tried authentic Korean -- Che Ju Do ?

Mookleknuck, it was months ago in the winter. and I do not remember what we ordered. My SO is new to Korean food and enjoyed as did I. Limited menu. The owner was our server, and we talked about the $100 meal. It seemed worth it..

The food was good. I do not remember what we had, but We did not have the $100 menu. It has been awhile, but I remember that the owners were friendly and nice. The place was empty. It was good enough for us to what to go back. btw: around the corner was a Spanish restaurant that looked nice.

Looking for best pho in Philadelphia

Pho Ga (pho with chicken) is available at most pho places. I have had it at Pho and Beyond (Willow Grove) and Pho 75.

Looking for best pho in Philadelphia

Agree about Pho and Beyond. I have heard very good things about Vietnam Cafe in Telford, but I have never been. Pho 75 is worth the trip often meet someone from Yardley who insisted on droving to Adams ave for lunch meetings.

Bialys in Philly suburbs?

Actual hand made boiled then baked bagels (as opposed to the bread sold as bagel rolls at a Manhattan Bagel) can be found in Elkins Park at Rolings 7848 Montgomery Ave. around the corner from the old Ashbourne Mkt and the under construction Creekside Co-op. I do not eat bialys, but I would begin my search there.

Max and David might be closed for Passover, other kosher places are. The holiday ends Saturday daytime. Not sure regarding taking reservations. Zake's is smaller then Patticaskes other suggestions.

Looking for new Chinese takeout in Jenkintown area

Try Jasmine in Glenside on Easton Road across from Citizens Bank. I prefer eat-in, but they do a very good takeout biz.

OK - my Ambler/Blue Bell area foodies - Help me with this one!

One more to consider - San Marco. I have had a couple of meeting there of friends/business associates. Good wine list and excellent food. There is also a piano bar for before or after.

Lee's Hoagie House...authentic philly cheesesteaks?

Lee's is a licensee operation. Not a franchise. . Thus, there are no "standards" to be maintained by the stores. It is like a buying co-op with a royalty to Seymour's wife.. Thus, the difference between stores. btw the cheltenham and italian cheltenham are great hoagies

BEST GNOCCHI IN PHILADELPHIA?

Roberto's formerly Fingers in Erdenheim (Bethelhem Pike just past Chestnut Hill. There for lunch today. They have hand made gnocchi on the menu. I ordered the salmon burger. I expected reconstituted salmon ala Trader Joe's or a croquette. Wrong!. It was a piece of real fish on a bun. $7.99 Thus, the gnocchi is worth a try, Nice people and good service

Shabu Shabu/Hot Pot

Dear Ms chick :)
did not mean to confuse -Tim Wong is open, but closed for xmas.Wong's is a duck soup place. It is on 9th. I believe below Race. But walk 9th toward Market. Wong is on the right. The hot pot is on left (it still had an orange grand oppening sign last time I was in C'town). It is next to a grocer. I believe you have to walk up a couple of steps to get to the restaurant.. let me know what you think. ken

Shabu Shabu/Hot Pot

There is a hot pot restaurant which just opened. I had planned on eating at Tim Wong's for Xmas (yes, Jews + Xmas = chinese). I believe it is 9th Street. It was closed but across the street with a orange sign is a hot pot restaurant, next to the grocer. Choice of mild or spicy broth or a split bowl of both then a buffet of meats, fish, and veggies to chose from to cook. I had both. The spicy grows on you. The mild was well mild. The broth are not pho or really distinguishable, butI enjoyed.. The price was $12.00. I think I was the only Jew in the restaurant :)

Citizens Bank Park tonight - for a vegetarian

There are restaurants in addition to the stands - Harry the K, in and Up, etc. I have had a decent Tuna steak sadwich in the Hall of Fame Club. I suggest you call the Phillies. . I went last night. Enjoy the game

Vietnamese food - Pho and Cafe Saigon

Pho 75 is by far the best Pho restaurant in the area . The original store is on Adams near the Blvd. They also opened up on Washington Ave and in Chinatown. Choose your area. My friend, with a Vietnamese wife and visits there annually, says pho stands only sell pho. It takes 24 hours to prepare the broth. Much too long for a restaurant.. Eat it with as muchh or as little of the extras as you want. Add hot , fish, or plum sauce as you like. My fav lunch.

Philly Middle Eastern BYOB?

Another option is Persian Grill in Lafayette Hill on Germantown Pike. Good food and atomosphere.
Marrakesh would be fun and different (depends if you want fun with your in laws) Though it is price fixed which keeps the costs down.

Chinese food quest in the suburbs

Golden Chariot in Colmar on rt 309. They have two menus oneEnglish and a different one in Chinese. There is a fish tank when you enter. Very accommodating. You can determine the ingredients including sauce and spice. Often, there are no causcasians in restaurant. They do a big Chinese banquet biz. Not elegant but authentic.
