Announcing changes to the software

Could the Chowhound Team announce changes to the software. I just read that Chow News can be read by clicking on the next button in the digest drop-down. I don't sign on often and would rather spend my time reading the food boards. I spend too much time on the site topics trying to find out what is new. Most new features are announced by Chowhounds and not the Chowhound Team. It would be nice to know the new features as they are added. Could there be a "Software changes this week" topic?

Bubble tea

Bubble tea with tea is very good. I don't like the artificial flavors. I don't see any point to those.

Remembering Flavor Straws...just for a moment.

Are these the straws used for milk and not pixie straws with flavored sugar? The straw was used to flavor the milk as the milk was sucked through it.

Lost all my typed text before I could hit "Post New Topic"

It is not the browser. I am on different browsers and it happened to me twice.

If the title is left blank, all the text is gone when the error message is displayed. Could this be fixed?

So, what is the appropriate response to "Ewww!!!" anyway?

No, I guess you didn't hear me correctly, it is salmon not lamb.

chow-date?

This is not a great idea. Your positive response is a warning bell to me that Chowhound will change from the one spot to focus on food discussions to just another silly food chat site taking the focus off the food and turning attention to the social part of eating. Please don't lose site of what makes Chowhound valuable and unique and turn it into a clone of hundreds of other sites.

If there must be some social aspect, please put it elsewhere. Maybe Chow magazine could have a dating link. Please keep it off of Chowhound.

It makes me suspect that they buy-out by CNet was too good to be true. That is too bad because I was enjoying the new site very much and appreciated everything Cnet has done to date.

I hope Cnet will remember what made Chowhound attractive. There should be many ways that a food-savy audiance can be profitable.

Infusing Vodka

To make the blueberry vodka, pour out approximately 1/3 of the bottle of vodka into a glass. Make a small cut in each blueberry and place into the vodka bottle. Refill with vodka that was set aside. I add a teaspoon of sugar.

Another way is to smash the blueberries and mascerate them before adding to the bottle. Whole blueberries do not release flavor as quickly as mashed or cut berries. Let the bottle sit for at least a month.

Do you ever choose the store (or generic) brand over the the national one?

Plain yellow mustard is as good as French's. Safeway's canned fruit in natural juice. It is actually better than the brand names.

Items I would never buy generics are sugar, Heinz catsup and Hellman's mayo.

Poached Egg Question

I second the microwave gadget.

Buy any type of an egg poacher. I have a four slot stainless steel poacher that I used before the microwave poacher. I spray the poacher with pam. My stainless steel poacher looks similar to this poacher sold by Targetl.

Can you cook with fresh Paprika peppers?

I have used them fresh just like any other pepper. They are sweet.
