Puerto Rico (ESJ, OSJ, Condado) Suggestions?

I'm interested to hear what you thought of Atlantica. Definitely make it to Jose Enrique. Have the deep fried whole colirubia on top of papaya & avocado salad (if you like fish) . If you can..try Santaella as well. They are open for lunch and Thurs-Sat for dinner.

Crystal is not all inclusive. They do not include alcoholic beverages or gratuities in their fares. This will change on Crystal Symphony on March 19, 2012 and on Crystal Serenity the change will take place on May 8th.

I have been on cruises with excellent food. Try CRYSTAL CRUISES or SEABOURN CRUISES. Both lines have excellent food.

Puerto Rico (ESJ, OSJ, Condado) Suggestions?

If you haven't tried Jose Enrique ...you definitely should. It helps if you go early as it gets crazy packed by 7. VERY LOUD... Restaurant is nothing special to look at..doesn't even have a sign outside..but all the locals "in the know" go there for really good food. Try it.. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it. Deep fried whole fish served on top of avocado & papaya salad is a standout...as are most other dishes.... Santaella is the new place to be. He has been catering for the creme of PR for many years and his recently opened restaurant (near the plaza Santurce) is "the" place to be. They are open for lunch and only open Thurs, Fri & Sat evening. It's a loud, fun place where everyone goes when they want to be seen. Food is delicious....lots of interesting creations and you NEED a reservation or you will have a LONG wait. I'm a very difficult to please foodie who eats out every night. I definitely recommend Santaella. Try it..you'll like it :-)

I usually gravitate towards fish when I eat out in the evening. Every fish that I've had at Laurel has been delicious. I will usually choose the fish of the day and pair it with the sauce & preparation that interests me that day. I do love the tuna with pistachio sauce....excellent combination. Seabass delicious... Tostones with salmon & tuna tartare. Arugula ,papaya & goatcheese salad...everything i've tasted really yummy.

Puerto Rico (ESJ, OSJ, Condado) Suggestions?

I have eaten at Laurel a few times and I've enjoyed it each time. Food is delicious, service excellent as always...didn't really love what they did with the decor though...thought it looked much better when Pikayo was there. However...decor is never a deterrent...food is always what matters to me and it is delicious. Will probably dine there tonight. It is a hotspot on Fri & Sat and can get quite full and noisy. Happening scene.

Puerto Rico (ESJ, OSJ, Condado) Suggestions?

Chayote has moved and is now called "Laurel". It is now located in the Museum of Art of P.R. where Pikayo used to be. Pikayo is now located in the CONRAD Hotel (formerly the Condado Plaza) Both are excellent. Ramiros has closed.

Easter Trip to Puerto Rico: 4 Night Dinner Lineup Needs Feedback

I live in San Juan and if I had only one night in PR for dinner it would definitely be at Pikayo. With four nights it would be a shame for you to exclude Pikayo. It is the best cuisine in PR. Don't miss it. Chayote is also very good. Delirio would be my third choice. I would not bother with Aquaviva..nothing amazing . Dragonfly..eh..
Parrot Club used to be good years ago but I have not been back due to a few bad experiences. BLT Steak..much better in NY....used to be really good when it first opened but has gone downhill and I won't go anymore as the quality just doesn't compare to NY.
I really can't say anything great about Budatai...I have been there a few times but am usually underwhelmed. If you live in NY , Budatai will be a letdown.

Coming to San Juan

Pikayo has moved from the museum to the Condado Plaza (now CONRAD Hotel) and its just as delicious as before.

3 Nights in San Juan

Pikayo...YUMMMMM the best in San Juan...Koko pretty good too

Old San Juan PR - Rehearsal Dinner Spots?

The parrot club used to be delicious...I used to eat there once a week as well...that however was before the menu and chef changed. I have not been there for months as it is now off my list as well. My last dinner there was awful.

I was at Tangerine a few years ago..only once though...found it ridiculously overpriced and the portions were tiny. I actually left hungry which rarely happens. The chairs were hard and super uncomfortable. I eat out every night and never have returned...I'd say that speaks volumes about my experience. However..I know that things change, so if anyone has a favorable update, I'd be interested to hear as well.

I live in San Juan and love to eat good food. which is why I always recommend Pikayo if there is only one day to be spent in San Juan. It is my favorite restaurant.(had dinner there for New Years Eve and eat there about once a week)..amazing food with a local twist..beautiful setting (located in the Museo de Arte which is about 5 minutes by taxi from Condado but I would not walk there in the evening) and excellent service. It is expensive but you will definitely not leave hungry. Food is DELICIOUS . (Chef Wilo Benet was a guest judge on Top Chef) I think there are even tables available outside although I have never used them as I do not enjoy the humidity. As for typical dinner dress...locals definitely dress up a bit more..but I have seen many in khakis and a polo..nice short sleeve button down shirt or jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Anything goes (no shorts, t shirts or flip flops obviously). Staff really makes you feel welcome...Its a pleasure to dine at Pikayo..You wont be disappointed!!! (Am presently on a cruise where the food is incredible and am a bit sad it will soon come to an end but atleast I have Pikayo to return to!!! :-) (also..if you have more than one night I'd recommend Chayote...really good as well but not quite as good as Pikayo in terms of food or atmosphere. Hope this helps somewhat and Happy Birthday to your wife!

Family style restaurant in the san Juan area

Pikayo definitely has a local twist to its dishes..Chef Wilo Benet incorporates Puerto Rican tastes into his food. It is expensive but oh so worth it (and I really can't think of one expensive hotel restaurant that compares to Pikayo.

San Juan, Dinner in Condado area

Marmalade is good...but not amazing...with one night in San Juan...Pikayo would be my choice hands down. Haven't heard good things about Jam and even though I live two blocks away..have never been there. Go with Pikayo....quite amazing...You will LOVE it..

San Juan, Dinner in Condado area

If I had one night I'd go with Pikayo...definitely the best food in San Juan (comparable to a good New York restaurant) Food and presentation are excellent. Service is amazing. We went there for New Years eve because the food is simply delicious and the atmosphere in the Museo de Arte is beautiful. If I had another night I'd probably go to Chayote...food is yummy , service good as well and decor very nice...but doesn't quite compare to Pikayo. There are many other restaurants that are good but with only one night..try Pikayo...I'm sure you will thank me. Have a great cruise(am presently on a cruise myself going through the Panama Canal at the moment:-)

San Juan, Dinner in Condado area

I'm a local and my favorite restaurant in San Juan is Pikayo...excellent food, style and service.(expensive) Its not exactly in Condado but about 5-7 minutes by taxi....sooooooo worth it..you will LOVE it!

Family style restaurant in the san Juan area

The fish restaurant in OSJ is Aguaviva (blue color and ocean motif) Yes its still there. For excellent food (expensive though) try Pikayo located in the Museo de Arte ...DELICIOUS..probably the best style, service and food in San Juan.

The food in Parrot Club is not good

Comparing La Concha and Il Mulino in Puerto Rico.

La Perla is a beautiful restaurant...good atmosphere in a *happening* hotel...the food is presented with style..only problem is ....everything I have eaten there is bland and has no taste. (Have been there four times) This is very frustrating because one expects to be amazed by the look of the plate...big disappointment. Have eaten in Il Mulino a few times...and am usually not very happy when I leave. Food never has me saying "Yumm"..always leave and say "now why did I just spend so much for a mediocre meal...and then I go back in a few months to give it another try. Haven't been back in a while. Have heard Il Mulino in NY is much better in terms of taste and food quality. My favorite restaurant in San Juan is Pikayo.(Had New Year's Eve dinner there last night because it is the finest food in San Juan..never disappoints) Chayote would follow closely.

Puerto Rico -- San Juan, El Yunque/Fajardo, Culebra

Chayote is delicious as well and would be my second favorite after Pikayo. Excellent food...decor and service. (Was actually going to have dinner there last evening but DH was craving Italian) Will have dinner in Chayote tonight instead. Its always an excellent meal and I always leave satisfied and happy.

Puerto Rico -- San Juan, El Yunque/Fajardo, Culebra

Pikayo would have to be my favorite restaurant in San Juan and I dine there often. ...really excellent food, service and decor. Style and substance incredible in Pikayo. Delirio is more style than substance and can't say I've loved the food there on the few occasions I've tried it. Pescador is popuar with the locals..food is ok..no style. Tantra...not bad but nothing amazing. Aguaviva...ok.. but not great. If you have to choose one definetely go with Pikayo. (Chef Wilo Benet of Pikayo was a guest judge on Top Chef fyi)

Pikayo is closed on Mondays...now what?

Just checked the website and Pikayo is open on Mondays for dinner.

Pikayo is closed on Mondays...now what?

Actually...I do think that Pikayo has been opening on Mondays for a while now. Give them a call and check it out.

One night in OSJ Puerto Rico

Just fyi....the chef of Pikayo ..Wilo Benet..was a guest judge on the Top Chef finale show filmed in Puerto Rico. Hope you make it to Pikayo on your one night here. I know you will enjoy it. I live in San Juan and try to have dinner at Pikayo every week...always satisfies my foodie cravings :-)

One night in OSJ Puerto Rico

Parrot club used to be good before it switched chefs...Pikayo is the best food on the island..my favorite. You won't be disappointed. A bit expensive but oh so worth it!! You will leave with a smile on your face as well as on your tummy.

One night in OSJ Puerto Rico

Take a taxi to "Pikayo" ......pretty close (about 10 minutes away) and the most amazing food in Puerto Rico.
