Santa Cruz, 4th of July

We will be in Santa Cruz for the 4th of July - can anyone recommend a Santa Cruz / Capitola restaurant that is definitely open that evening - that might have fresh beer on tap - and a view of any potential fireworks nearby? Crow's Nest? We still have time to make a reservation, wherever that may be...I hope! Kitchen: fish, steaks / burgers...many thanks for any replies to my 4th of July request!

Who's been to new coffee places in Echo Park/SL? (2nd try)

They use a very specific type of espresso coffee at the Coffee Pot, which isn't really my favorite. The crepe was good, though.

Fresh beer on the LV strip?

We have tickets to a show on the strip (either at Caesar's or nearby, it's a surprise) - and I realized that I do not know of any micro-brew beer being served on the strip. Who's serving nice fresh micro-brew between the Tropicana and the Sahara? (My 'usual' is somewhere downtown, a bit too far for mid-Strip requirements; and Gordon Biersch on Paradise (?) can be a bit too 'sporty' for my crew). Suggestions? Many thanks...

We definitely plan to try the French Bakery; might just be heading into SLO for some Peet's coffee. Who has the nicest espresso in Morro Bay?

Morro Bay

I've had friends suggest Dorn's for breakfast and possibly and French Bakery @ Front Street Inn and Spa for sandwiches. What do you think of these two suggestions, geekyfoodie? Or anyone else? Thanks for all the replies thus far (I am the OP).

Morro Bay

We will be in Morro Bay at the end of August for some birdwatching - without having to drive to Pismo or S.L.O. - may I please request a short list of places to try that are actually in Morro Bay? The last post I could find for Morro Bay was dated 2006. And I know things change.

For the central coast, we have eaten at and enjoyed Big Sky in S.L.O., McLintock's (asst. locations) and Firestone-Walker Brewery in Buellton. So, not looking necessarily for high end dining, just somewhere with decent food to try in Morro Bay. Draft beer a plus!

Does 'Taco Temple' still exist?

Many thanks in advance. (2nd time I've tried to post this, so apologies if this appears twice).

Armenian chicken better than Zankou?

My Glendale preference has always been Elena's, cnr Glendale Blvd & Acacia. It's about the chicken shish!

Something around Streetlight Records on 24th?

Many thanks for everything, S.F. board! - we did, in fact, end up at the Toast Eatery. Decent burger, decent Philly steak sandwich etc. - more or less just what we were looking for. Loved the toast-framed cartoon illustrations, too.

Apart from what we bought at the Berkeley Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, our favorite meal was at Wally's Cafe in Emeryville. Very decent and inexpensive middle eastern, and inexpensive draft beers from the bar in front of it!

Cheers!

Something around Streetlight Records on 24th?

I am the OP - it may be a Sunday afternoon meeting, not certain. I just wanted some options for the immediate area, as it may be up to me to suggest a place to eat - and I am unfamiliar with what goes on in that neck of the woods, as regards restaurants / cafes etc.

Something around Streetlight Records on 24th?

Thanks for the Toaste Eatery tip, NoeMan - I presume Toast Eatery serves more than breakfast?

Something around Streetlight Records on 24th?

Many thanks for the Fattoush recommendation; I love middle eastern but really dislike hookas of any kind (if I am eating).

Something around Streetlight Records on 24th?

Hi SF Board!

I have some business near Streetlight Records on 24th Street in S.F. this coming Sunday - and I do not really know that area - been going to S.F. for decades, but haven't been on 24th Street in ages. I do not know the street address I'm going to be at, but it's very near old favorite Streetlight (which I think used to be where Aquarius Recs. was, once upon a time?).

Looking for anything near there open and serving a meal (draft beer a plus) on Sunday afternoon - only real req. is that it be open & serving, minus hookas (currently an unusual trend in L.A., unfortunately). Middle eastern, Japanese, Thai, Mexican, coffee shop, steak house - all OK. What's walking distance (and decent to eat / drink) from Streetlight Records on 24th St.?

Many thanks in advance - this board has never failed me yet.

Which SSG location is best for yakitori?

Call & make a reservation! The one on Western in Gardena is the best of the SSG locations. Without a doubt.

Silver lake has at least two, one on Sunset near Sunset Junction (south side of the street) and the other on a street just off of Sunset, by where the Sat. AM Farmer's Market is in Silver Lake. Sorry I can't think of the names, but I walk past them all the time.
