Three Days In Tampa!! Help?!?

Thanks, Bill! I'll be there at the end of the month. I have Las Margaritas on the agenda. What's the best stuff at Arco Iris?

Three Days In Tampa!! Help?!?

I KNOW I want to enjoy authentic Cuban at LEAST once - Last trip I was at that Columbia place in Ybor, lots of 'show' and not much great food. I want an outstanding Vaca Frita! Suggestions please for some delicious Cuban and generally anything amazing (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) in the area.

Thanks!

MSP - Machu Picchu closed

The Mrs and I checked out Uchu in Plymouth last night. I gotta say... while the lomo saltado didn't taste the same as my beloved Machu Picchu, it was still very delicious. The restaurant is an open room with an open kitchen, sound bounces all over the place and it's kinda loud. The menu is somewhat limited, but talking to the staff it seem that they have plans to expand it. I'll be back for sure - They're certainly worth a play if you're a fan of Peruvian food.

French Onion Soup in the Twin Cities?

Ruth's Chris has, without question, the finest FOS in the Twin Cities. I know, I know, it ain't French and it's a chain and blah blah blah, but taste it.

msp: curry 'n noodles hopkins

I live in the neighborhood and drive by EVERY day. They sure look like they're ready to open any day now - They've polished up the place quite a bit and the menu looks amazing. My wife and I are tickled that we'll be able to get fresh naan right down the street!! I'm going to wager they'll be open this week! I can't wait!

Are there any good Mom & Pop restaurants in the western suburbs?

Christos on Hwy 7!! I drown my troubles in a big bowl of avgolemono soup almost weekly. It's a must try if you haven't been there. Typical Greek fare, but always pleasant and attentive service. The Cyprus Grape Leaves (Kopepea) is also a great bet.

Caspian Bistro - MSP

Here's another vote for the ground chicken kabobs (Chicken Koobideh or "Choobideh" as they call it at Caspian). There is also an appetizer called TAH DIG which I'm not sure is on the menu or not. ASK FOR IT! It's crunchy rice from the bottom of the pot. It is delicious when served with GHEIMEH on the top. It might be the top appetizer (or meal) in the cities! The hot tea is sublime, as is the iced tea. We're there almost every Sunday. Say hi!

MSP: Best Vietnamese?

Pho Tao Bay for the pork over noodles (Bun thit nuong). NOBODY does it better.

MSP - Burger Jones opens today

We tried - 2 hour wait so I haven't been yet.... But in answer to a few other posts on this thread....

SMASHBURGER - Didn't do it for me. Lackluster greasy fries and the burger was ok. I agree with the other poster that the Culvers burger runs circles around Smashburger for taste. I think my major complaint is the bun. Their bun is too eggy. I like the soft sweet bun (Culvers).

5 GUYS - It's heaven. Burger heaven. French Fry heaven. Worth the wait in line.

Breakfast / Lunch in Ann Arbor

A FRAGEL! That's not to be missed. Fragel. Sid's Bagel Fragel at 1754 Plymouth Rd in Ann Arbor. Holy MOTHER OF GOD are those things delicious. A deep fried, cinnamon coated bagel. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's amazing.

We tried the Lomo Soltado at Picosa and, like TDQ's experience, it was underwhelming. The service, however, was stellar.

My wife and I lament the decline of Machu Picchu.. I was a regular there since 2000 and my wife fears she will never have her beloved Pollo Soltado or their amazing empanadas.

[MSP] All foods at the State Fair (more or less)

That is SO AWESOME! I have a friend flying in from Tampa for the fair (he's never been) and he will have an absolute BALL using this to plan out our one day at the fair! Thanks so much!

[MSP] Pastrami Jack's

Call me a heretic, but I get pastrami on a challa roll with swiss and mustard and I dare say that PJ's pastrami is as soft as the roll. It's something to behold. As far as matzo ball soup is concerned, I'll stick with Crossroads, but PJs pastrami sandwich stands alone.

Chow between Minneapolis and Seattle

OH MY GOD! If you GO NO WHERE ELSE make the trek North to JUDY FU'S SNAPPY DRAGON restaurant. It is, perhaps, the most amazing Chinese food I've ever eaten and there is nothing like it here in Minneapolis. It is the thing I miss most about Seattle (and I miss plenty).

Make sure to try ANY dish that comes with their homemade noodles and do yourself a BIG favor and start off with a BIG plate of Jiao Zi, their world famous homemade dumplings. I know when I get to heaven they'll serve Judy Fu's Jiao-Zi there.

MSP- good greek?

I'm a BIG fan of Christos - All three locations (St Paul, Uptown, and now Minnetonka) have been consistently delicious - I'm addicted to their Avgo Lemono soup and they make some of the best meat stuffed grape leaves in the business. Service is always good.

Nominate: Best Pizza in Minneapolis-StPaul (if you say Dominos, you are banned from chowhound 4 good)

Are you kidding me? Golooney's Pizza - 24th and Hennepin - Specifically, a slice with meatball. It's BY FAR the best slice in the city.
