Do you give out your recipes at thanksgiving?

See that's what I thought. They like it and want to make it. Great! apparently I have people at work who believe they make the "best" of this and the other thing and refuse to divulge their secretes. wtf. Why? Food is to enjoy!

Do you give out your recipes at thanksgiving?

Had a great thanksgiving with 28 members of my family. I happened to bring something that everyone really enjoyed and hadn't had before. (a very simple dessert and a new recipe to me.) Many of my family are on FB and see that I post different things I make sometime and somehow think that makes me a serious cook. (not just enjoy food) Anyway, an aunt asked me for the recipe, but then immediately backtracked and said.. you probably don't give out your recipe secrets. Um... of course I do. Had the same question asked at work once on something i brought. I guess some people at work bring their "signature dishes" and don't want to give out the recipes. I am always happy to give them out. I usually found the recipe somewhere online anyway, then I tell them what I did differently if anything.

I think it's weird that someone wouldn't share. What's your take? Caveat... I'm no chef, I do not cook food for a living at all. So no one is going to be taking food away from my restaurant if I give out a recipe. I can see restaurants keeping their recipes close.

Speaking of eliminating, looks like Joe is leaving as judge after the next season of junior.

I hate Cook’s Illustrated: The soul-crushing wonkiness of the world’s worst cookbook

I still go back to my hard bound copies when I am trying something new. I'll often look there first to read how they did it and their techniques. Then I'll supplement it with recipes from my favorite websites. In general I enjoy reading their copy and will happily read tests and recipes on things I never ever intend to make.

Masterchef Junior Season 2 episode 2

There is no way Samuel will win. Definitely getting the "villain" edit such as it is on a kid show. I think Oona and Abby will be safe til the end as they are "TV," much more so than sean, but so far he and Samuel seem to be the cooks to beat.

Bleah. Don't read it if you don't like it. I personally enjoy it. Not as much as I did say 15 years ago, but I learned a lot from it starting out and have a good six of them in hard bound covers.

If they ever get rid of Padma, I'd be fine with Tiffani as a host.

Returning food too often customer banned

I followed the link. Still, if you hate the food 90% of the time and send it back. Don't go there.

Returning food too often customer banned

I can't blame the restaurant here. There is absolutely zero profit, in fact a loss in allowing this customer in their establishment. (unless they are ordering copious amounts of liquor)

Masterchef Junior Season 2 episode 2

Ramsey reminds me a lot more of how he is in the F word in Britain, or even on his Hotel Hell series in the US. No F-bombs, and he really seems to enjoy the kids. I did get a kick of how much Abby did NOT want Gordon to get covered in Syrup.

Masterchef Junior Season 2 episode 2

Two young ladies weeded out. A pancake competition amongst the top 3 from last week and all the judges getting covered in syrup. I assume it was much more hilarious if you were there and say, 12 years old or so.
The citrus cream pie challenge was somewhat interesting. Other than key lime I don't think I've ever had or seen such a thing. Even my lemon was meringue and not cream. An orange cream pie sounds pretty bland. They were certainly pretty, for the most part.
Oona and Abbie are certainly working the camera time so I'm guessing one or both will be in it at the end. Oona seems a bit more capable.

Good for him for being positive.
I do agree that the "gluten free" comment made the hairs on my big toe stand up a bit in anger or possibly it was just static electricity from the carpet.

And the gal eliminated mentioned LCK when she was packing her knives. Guessing they would have cut that out if they weren't going to have it.

Masterchef Junior U.S. - Season 2.

I have a pretty strong aversion to Rachael Ray, but from what you said I do like the idea of a point system. The crying is pretty sad, but who knows with the editing elves how real it is or not.

Masterchef Junior U.S. - Season 2.

It's Baaaaack.
Watched it on Hulu this morning. They trotted out last year's winner. The three judges are being all sorts of touchy feely and kid friendly.

Most of the food looked great.

The little kids crying when they did bad was kind of uncomfortable. Watching little kids running around trying to carry big food processors, knives, using blow torches also was a little uncomfortable. Sure, do it in the safety of your own home, but with a time element and $100K on the line, seems like a sure way to get someone injured.

Pretty much it seems just like last year. Some of the kids already have "schticks" lined up so you can love them or hate them appropriately. All the kids do seem to congratulate and be happy for the other kids, so I guess that is one thing going for it over adult USA masterchef.

Mei did not seem like she would be pleasant to work with initially. I'm glad her teammate held his ground.

I feel a little more sympathy for Kerianne than i do Aaron. He seemed like he was just trying to bait people for the fun of it.

Well I would hope if you don't have a schedule set you'd just hire a babysitter if you REALLY have to go and eat out that badly.
