HK contestant shows up on Iron Chef America
Last night I watched a rerun of Iron Chef America. It was the episode of battle mussels with Bobby Flay and challenger Todd Stein. I was just kind of half watching when I looked up and realized I recognized one of the challenger's sous chefs -- but couldn't remember from where.
I had to think about it for about an hour and it finally dawned on me that it was Russell Kook, a finalist on a past season of Hell's Kitchen.
Just thought it was good to see him again in another cooking environment, especially as much as we have fun making fun of some of the silliness of Hell's Kitchen. (or at least I do).
Chefs' cookbook ghost writers
No one seems to be buying Rach's denial. (other than her paid blogger)

Favorable review of new Olive Garden in Grand Forks, ND
It's almost as bad when Krispie Kream came to Tulsa. Despite having tons of fantastic mom and pop bakeries.... it was like the dang president was coming to town!
Favorable review of new Olive Garden in Grand Forks, ND
I was visiting my parents and friends near Salina, KS, and it was front page news over the weekend that Olive Garden was coming to Salina. I made a joke about it to a friend as to it being "news" She was actually very excited that it was coming and looking forward to it. I felt bad for potentially yucking on someone's yum.
I bought my nephew an Easy Bake Oven for Xmas
I had the Pizza Hut toy easy bake oven. (also with a light bulb) I loved that thing as a kid even if the pizzas tasted like crap.
Cupcakes 24 hours a day -- coming soon
Now you can get a $4 cupcake 24 hours a day from a vending machine.
I guess the reign of the cupcakes isn't over yet.

Chopped All-Stars, Season 2 to debut 04/08/12
I'm looking forward to seeing Murphy and Keeghan cook
Dining-In vs Take-Out
I like take out/delivery. The bf likes to eat out. So we mix it up, usually eating out more. For take out/delivery I like not having to dress up. If I want to wear my ripped up cargo shorts and a t-shirt and flip flops it's just fine. I also like saving money on drinking from my own beverages instead of buying them at the restaurant.
The Leftovers That Didn't Make It
My mom's recipe sloppy joes. I usually only make them for myself, or if my old college roommate is spending the weekend as they are a guilty pleasure for her as well. They are not gourmet. Have way too much brown sugar in them. .... and nothing is better scooped up cold especially if you have some big fritos chips.
Worst Cooks in America
I'm ready to see Tiffany the actress plant from the Amazing Race leave. Erica was a lot more entertaining.
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 1 - Ep. #16 - 02/22/12 (Spoilers)
then think of Bev jumping up and down with her hands clapped over her mouth squealing when she won LCK while Grayson waited patiently to congratule her.
Participants on Food Media and News: Your Input Please
I absolutely agree with souvenir.
Food show hosts do that for a living. That is their fame. They should expect to be criticized. I think season should be open on them and tightened up on these first time cheftestants.
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 1 - Ep. #16 - 02/22/12 (Spoilers)
I took it that whoever made it to finals she wanted to see them do really impressive dishes. If I lost right before the finale I'd want whoever beat me to do an incredible job.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
It's a sign LindaWhit ... come back to your true love. HK
Restaurant Bans Crying Kids
It's sad when a restaurant has to put up a sign to remind people of what should just be common courtesy and common sense.
New 'Menu Items That Need to Be Retired", 2012 edition...
They pop out new every year!
New 'Menu Items That Need to Be Retired", 2012 edition...
There was a recent Kitchen Nightmares (US) version where Gordon was served grilled lettuce. He was horrified.
Dogs in Restaurants
I agree with beachmouse. The dogs on the patio of the restaurant I frequent (including mine) are getting their cold water and a nap. Most of them have been jogging along the parks trails by the restaurant and it's nice for the owners to be able to sit down with friends and have a drink while the furry running companions soak up the shade and the ice water.
Dogs in Restaurants
That was a fabulous picture of Martha and her winning dog. Where I live a dog can't go in a restaurant unless it is a service dog. Many restaurants allow them on the patio, however. They even have a list of "dog-friendly" restaurants in the city. I've never run into a poorly behaved dog on the patios. Mine usually goes to sleep under the table after she gets her bowl of ice water.

And I'm guessing the Heather should be Sarah?
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
So I haven't been able to watch the episode yet. But I don't mind being spoiled, so I've read Linda's always wonderful recaps here, caught the extended judge table video, all the blogs, and read the posts. I have only one question. Please. Tell me Bev took the piece of paper telling her she is the champion to Vancouver and that we get a lovely parting shot of her taking it down. I'm sorry. From the first time she ran to the front of the line at Whole Foods and insisted she was the most important person there she lost me.
Anne Thornton Axed
I believe she called them her Knock U Naked brownies. Might be slightly off in the name but that is what I recall her calling them.
Anne Thornton Axed
Guess they're going to have to axe their Pioneer Woman show as well since her brownies are right out of a popular community cookbook.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
I watched that and read Gail's blog. Looks like Bev also had a plating slip up on Gail's plate.
serial reality show contestants
I just read, don't know if it is true, that Anthony on this season's Worst Cooks was on last season's Project Runway.
