Sorriso Italian in Tiergarten, Berlin REVIEW:

On our final night we enjoyed a nice meal at this spot. Starting things off with their calves liver appetizer which was delicious and for my main course their freshly made pesto pasta with pine nuts. The perfect meal after having such heavy dishes earlier in the week. Give it a try!

I forgot to mention the freshly made Mozarella appetizer at Da Baffi too, see photo, probably the best I've had in my life now-divine!

Here on Day 2 in Berlin and our meals have been amazing. Last night's Italian at Da Baffi was wonderful. We had a party 5 and ate like kings, shared 3 bottles of white wine, started with their Calamari salad which we loved, a couple orders of their truffle pasta which was a big hit and a new first time fish dish which was one of the best fishes ever, wish I remembered the name, then we ended the meal with their chocolate lava cake, spoke to the owner and he said they are leaving the Wedding district in 2 months and will reopen in either Charlottsberg or Kreuzenberg area. Now on to tonight's Austrian/German meal at MitterHoffer. As you enter you begin to wonder if this was a mistake, until the food comes out and you will be grateful. To start they bring out their own homemade bread with a nice spread. To start I had their cauliflower soup (see photo) and you couldn't ask for a more gourmet cook, the depth of flavors were outstanding. The specials fot the night were Cod fish or dear, reviews said the Weinerschintzel is a must and we both ordered this, out comes the biggest plate ever, after my first bite I was convinced this was the best ever! I had a side of spetzel and my friend had the mashed potatoes, both cooked wonderfully. I'm typing on my cell and will share more when I return home

Italian Dinner-Los Angeles (Decisions?)

My apologies, been tied up in business meetings all week with clients. Here's a breakdown of the name of our dishes as they came out. We brought 2 of our own beautiful wines to go with our meal, with a $40 corkage fee on each. Before our dishes arrived we received 2 appetizers on the house, a tasty gnocchi type of pasta and a flavorful vegetable soup. Now on to the meal, photos are on this post below. Out comes our Tuna tar tar, by far the best version of this to ever grace my mouth. It was perfectly seasoned on top of bruschetta bread. Next up was the grilled calamari which sat on top of a pomegranate salad, just as wonderful. From there the bone marrow which was to die for along with a corn succotash. From there the owner told us how he cures his own bacon which we had to try inside this pasta dish called "Bombolotti Mancini al amatricana guanciale tomatoes peperoncino" probably the best dish of the night, cooked al dente, just perfect. Out comes the whole Bronzino fish carved table side, another wonderful meal. In case your wondering, we ordered so much since each plate we split between myself and my business colleague. Next up was the suggested Veal Kidney's over mashed potatoes, we loved this just it was missing grilled onions. The table next to us agreed as well. To finish things off we split a trio of 3 desserts. My favorite being the chocolate mouse, the 2 others were cannoli's and an Italian cream puff. Hope you all enjoyed my experience and thank you for the suggestion, Stuart

Yes we loved the Veal Kidneys's, that's the middle photo above, we felt if he added some grilled onions to this it would have been a home run!

We might give Mr Hai Kabuki Sushi a try, I'm told this Sushi spot is better, have you tried this "Linguafood"?

Yeah, "Fischer's Fritz" is quite fine dining, to pricey for our dinners. Plus I enjoy a meal with good portions, this spot has dishes that look like a work of art and the food is the size of a coin.

Hello-

It's been a couple of yours now and I'm returning to Berlin for a business trip Oct. 15th-19th and would love some dinner suggestions.

We'll be staying at:

Hotel Berlin Berlin
Lützowplatz 17, 10785 Berlin

cabs are fine within 20-30 minutes from where we stay.

We enjoy:

-German/European cuisine
-Italian
-Seafood

Looking forward in hearing some new spots to dine at please :>)

My favorite spot from 2 years back suggested by members on here was:

-Katz Orange (My # 1 spot)

-trattoria paparazzi - nice comfy spot ( first italian restaurant to open in east berlin during the communist era, lots of history)

-Filetstueck -wasn’t impressed at all, terrible steaks & ambiance

-www.sage-restaurant.de (this was a unique spot, something different to try once)

-Lutter & Wegner (Very nice, upscale & elegant at the Sony Center in Pottsdam Patz

)

-Jolesch & Mitterhofer (I still want to try the pig, wasn't able to visit last year? I hear this is the best for German comfort food and pork?)

-Royal Grill (was terrible & overrated and overpriced)

-Etreconte (great spot, french food & steaks)

Thank you,

Stuart

Monster Noodles (Valley Village)

Thank you for giving it a shot, I feel the same way, stick to one ethnicity you know your good at, don't combine 4-5 styles in one, it never works. I could walk to this spot and was so hoping it would be decent. Luckily we have the best Thai restaurant around the corner, Teya Thai on Laurel by Chandler, if you haven't tried that your in for a treat, the owner Teya will greet you at the door, say Stuart sent ya ;.)

Monster Noodles (Valley Village)

Just noticed Monster Noodles is now open in the former Tang's Chinese location on Magnolia & Laurel. Curious if anyone's tried it yet to share input? Seems no restaurants survive in this strip mall location. I walked in to grab a menu and they cater to all styles of Asian cuisine. Also next store to them in the former Amir's Lebanese will be the Macaroni Truck's actual dine in location. Any feedback would be great.

2 new restaurants coming to Valley Village:

In the little strip mall on Laurel Canyon & Magnolia by the Bank of America, 2 new restaurants open up next month:

-Monster Noodles (all noodle house)
&
-Everything Macaroni (I assume various dishes based on the name)

Lets hope they're good, always nice to see new restaurants open in the area.

Gordan Ramsey's Restaurant in West Hollywood?

We ended up dining here, the bill was over $500 for two, we did leave satisfied. Starting the night off over some of their signature martini's in the bar. My favorite was the "English Rose" at $15 a pop, while listening to a beautiful live lounge singer. Then we were seated and our food experience began. Each dish we had we had them split the portions in half for my colleague and I to both enjoy & try a variety of dishes. First dish was the Char grilled Octopus salad which was very tender and cooked just right. Second course was the Risotto with mushrooms topped with a fried shrimp's head (similar to when you order sweet shrimp at a Sushi Bar) it was divine. Third course was the black cod in a miso sauce, we loved it. From there we had a side of the roasted cauliflower you dip in a mint yogurt which cleansed our pallet. Now for our final dish, Gordon Ramsey's signature dish the Beef Wellington, 4 slices for $100 which melted in your mouth. For dessert we tried a chocolate roll and the sticky toffee pudding. Was really looking forward to this dessert just was the one thing which didn't stand up to par. After dinner we checked out the amazing club on the roof and pool party. Was a wonderful evening and the London Hotel is a hidden gem!

Gordan Ramsey's Restaurant in West Hollywood?

For a business dinner tonight, we wanted to dine at Hell's Kitchen. It seems the only location by Gordon Ramsey is in the London West Hotel on San Vicente. We made reservations for this evening. Any must try dishes? Would love some feedback for this evening-Thank you in advance

Best hard tacos?

This is my neighborhood too, Valley Village, you will thank me once you try these hard shell tacos at El Taco Loco on Laurel Canyon & Chandler. I order their 3 King size hard tacos al pastor, my photo will speak for me. It's the only thing I order here over and over

Sattdown Jamaican Grill (Studio City)

Here's my input, just gave it a try and tried a variety of dishes. Upon sitting down I was looking forward to a beef patty, though they were already sold out and I ended up with a Jerk Chicken Patty (See photo) to start with, it was tasty and I would try the beef flavor next visit. For my entree I chose the combo, 1/2 Oxtail & 1/2 Goat Curry, both had a lot of bones which is to be expected just the pay off was they packed a lot of flavor which went great combined with the red beans & rice. The plantains were very thin which I would of enjoyed cut a bit thicker. Overall, this dish was delicious and I would get a full plate of Oxtail in the future. Now for dessert, I was eagerly awaiting this bread pudding all night. The owners wife who was the waitress was nice enough to bring out her husband Chef Tony. He informed me they were out of this dish and convinced me to try the Rum Cake which filled the spot. I shall return to give this spot another try. I will say I left hungry and had to stop at Dupar's for my Bread Pudding craving which I took home.
