Best Mexican in Sherman Oaks?

While dining at Yxta Cocina Mexicana downtown, one of my favorite Mexican spots to eat at. The bartender told me Maradentro in Studio City, is their newest location just this catering more to the seafood side of Latin flavors. I just wish they would open up a Yxta Cocina Mexicana in Studio City/Sherman Oaks as their tacos, guacamole, chips & salsa & more are to die for!

Barrel & Ashes (Review & Photos)

Just returned from a wonderful meal here, all this food was split with my friend and I. We decided to start with the Ho-Cake first, the presentation was amazing as it came out sizzling at our table. First bite was heaven, from the distinct butter & maple syrup and the wonderful texture of both a pancake meets cornbread. Next up we shared the Frito Pie which is simple a bag of Fritos opened up and topped with nacho toppings taking your basic chips up ten notches. For my entree I had the brisket which had magnificent color and BBQ ring around the edges, I was happy to find a couple burnt end pieces included, the smokiness in the flavor was exquisite and some of the best brisket I've ever tasted. My friend chose the cheddar cheese brisket sandwich and we split the Mac & cheese, I loved the big shell pasta they used which soaked up all that delicious cheese. As full as we were we had to split the turtle ice cream cake and we had no regrets, you drizzle on the caramel yourself and the candied pecans stood out the most! I can't wait to return, check out my photos and give it a try for yourself

REVIEW: Ma's Chinese Islamic, Anaheim

Whenever I'm in Anaheim I make this spot a must, by far one of my favorite Chinese Restaurants in CA, Islamic Chinese that is!

On a side note, "Das Ubergeek" thank you for the chinese restaurant years back in North Hollywood, Chinese Delights, it's the only spot I'll eat at in this area, love it!

Los Angeles Dinner Suggestions please?

I always receive great feedback when I ask these questions. Next week some family are coming to town from LAX Airport and we're planning a Monday 6:30 pm dinner meeting them in:

West LA, Santa Monica or near the 405, downtown is our last option

Any food options are a go, just this a casual/comfortable gathering, not a dive just not dress up either, say $20 a plate price range and delicious!

Bring on the suggestions ranging from:

American food, Mexican, Italian, Fish dishes

Thank you

L.A. Dish of the Month, June 2015 -- PIZZA

I've been hearing a lot about the pizza at this new spot, Jon and Vinny's in L.A., it's on my list to try, anybody try it yet?

http://www.yelp.com/biz/jon-and-vinny...

Living in the Valley, my all time favorite is Lido's Pizza or Barone's Pizza, both delicious!

When in Hollywood, I do love Mozza as other's mentioned on this thread too, next up I plan to try "Mother Dough"

Connie & Teds

We dined here last Friday for my birthday dinner and had an incredible meal. Starting out with their blood Clams from Baja, best part of the meal and $10 each, see photo. From there we split a hot lobster roll & an order of the fried clam bellies, always a treat! For your side, I suggest their onion rings which are quite tasty. Then we tried the live sea urchin and I made a video clip to share with everyone:

Republique Dinner Review-L.A.

Had an amazing dinner experience here last night. We ate like kings, between the two of us with both white & red wines the bill was $500. We started out with a dozen east coast oysters which were magnificent. From there we had beef tar tar with potato chips. Followed by these smoked eel and potato balls. Next was their first night with the return of Foie Gras now that this is back and allowed to be served in California, see photo, this was my favorite dish. Continuing with these various tapas plates next we tasted the bread in the pan gravy drippings, another wonderful appetizer. For our main entrees which we shared:Lamb Shanks over a kale risotto, very tasty and another foie gras pasta with black truffles called Cavitelli. As well as a wonderful white fish entree called John Dory. For dessert we indulged over their banana chocolate bread pudding. This french restaurant is a must, divine!

Best Fried Chicken in the Valley?

Happy Holiday's Carter, once I try LP I shall report back. To add, I also tried the Asian style fried chicken at Take a Bao, which was tasty just nothing to rave about. I did leave out Le Sisters which is in Chatsworth and is still high up on my list for a southern craving, mighty fine fried chicken.

Your FAV BBQ in the Valley:

Thank you 'MagnoliaGardens' this was one of the things I didn't like on my few previous visits, the meat came out not cold, more room temperature where I was looking forward to a fresh cooked hot rib. Hearing what you say, how they prepare night before makes sense now

Your FAV BBQ in the Valley:

I did a search and it's been years since anybody started a new BBQ topic. What's your favorite go to spot for ribs? Sticking around the Studio City, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys areas. I try to avoid Ventura Blvd. yet still do give some of those restaurants a shot. Now for my input:

-Kansas City BBQ (now called Bar-B-Que) I used to enjoy just the foods gone downhill and prices raised, think they care more about turning this into a bar

-Mom's BBQ-not bad just I'm still on search for something better

-Boneyard Bistro-again on the Blvd =way overpriced

-Barrel & Ashes-on my list to try, hearing great things

-Uncle Andres BBQ-tasty southern dishes, ribs just ok

-Smoke City BBQ-this is just average in my opinion

Lets hear what others have to say.

Thank you,

Stuart

Best Mexican in Sherman Oaks?

Trust me, it's hard to find good Mexican in Sherman Oaks. I'm going to share my favorite within a 3-5 mile radius if this helps:

-Casa Vega (foods not the best, though good for group gathering)
-Loteria Grill (more gourmet Mex, great food, good for a party)
-Salsa & Beer (Noho Location)
-Don Cuco's (Toluca Lake)

For Tacos:

-Cafe De Mexico (Sherman Oaks)
-Casita Tacos (Noho)

Quesadillas:

-Andy's Mexican Grill (Best spinach Quesadillas in Valley, stuffed with Pico de gallo and your choice of meat)
&
-Don Zarape (Noho, great chicken mole)

Seafood Mex:

-Los Arcos (Van Nuys)
-Marisco Vallarta (Van Nuys)

Enjoy,

Stuart

Sorriso Italian in Tiergarten, Berlin REVIEW:

On our final night we enjoyed a nice meal at this spot. Starting things off with their calves liver appetizer which was delicious and for my main course their freshly made pesto pasta with pine nuts. The perfect meal after having such heavy dishes earlier in the week. Give it a try!
