Open all day with booze?

The Point DOES have great food but does NOT have a permit to consume booze on site.
TO GO ONLY.
Which i guess, if you're hard core, might not be an issue.

Canned (micro) Brews

I checked the "soda shop" on York St. and other obvious retailers.

Has anyone found them around town?

Thanks!!

Mozza - Kids?

I've seen a dad and his son, a couple of times, mid afternoon on weekdays...both having a very nice time. The staff seems to know them and WELCOME them.

Happy chowing with your 'pups !!!

Pizza (in or around) Culver City

All I could come up with was a recommendation for Ugo. Any other thoughts ?

Thanks

(we'll be coming from the south/west if that increases our options.)

Best Happy Hour on the Westside.

I think it's called Stone Fire Pizza on La Ceinega (sp?) just south of Santa Monica blvd.
Pizzas...that are just fine at 1/2 price and...a nice wines by the glass list, also at 1/2 price !!!
This is a good Happy Hour.

Where might you go, Oscar night....

......that you would usually stay away from because it's too crowded ?

Kind of like how "they" used to say, "Super Bowl Sunday is the best day to go to Disneyland"........because it won't be crowded.

Mozza Alternatives ?

I'm hoping to go for food and wine arond 3:30 this week. If there's no room, where else (close by) might be a good second choice ?

(Lou's would be my first, second choice if they were open.)

THANKS

Would The 3rd Stop be good for food, as a second choice ? ?

New restaurant on Wilshire and 13th in SaMo?

I also gave it a try, though last week, and found it to be very enjoyable. I do agree with some other posters regarding it being a bit "pricey."
The wine list is small but interesting.
Nice bread w/ tapanade (sp?).
I just had a salad, good portion but, $$$.
The staff was great. EVERYBODY was trying very hard to make the place work.

If your looking for a deal, skip it. But if you've got the spare change (at this time of year) it's a nice addition to the neighborhood.

As a side note: I wasn't there w/ my chowpup but I saw a guy there with his, and the 'pup (VERY well-behaved) seemed QUITE welcome !

There was the cutest staff - 'pup "goodbye."

Santa Monica with 2 year old son - help

For Italian, I'd go to Pizzicotto (sp.?) in Brentwood. Great food and very kid friendly tables outside, in the front.

For Mexican, Tacos Por Favor on Olympic. Nicely spiced foods for the adults and a very flexible menu for kids. They do get crowded on weekdays at lunch.

Reddi Chick on 26th st. Yum chicken in a HEAVILY kid populated spot. (If any of your kids are well behaved, avoid this place. Lest they be exposed to "how not to behave, at ANY restaraunt.")

Library Ale House on Main St.. Great back patio for kids. Great brews. Very dependable menu. Keep the ordering simple, burgers, etc.

Lastly, The Broadway Deli. Most on this board dislike it. I think it's fine. They serve food all day. VERY kid friendly (read no stress). It's not cheap, so plan on sharing. But that's what families are for.

Hope these help !

Who thinks this looks appetizing ?

Someone posted a review of this restaurant on the Los Angeles board, with a link. I was curious and wound up here:

http://www.georgepetrellisteaks.com/L...

I don't know much about photography or web design but this picture alone would "talk" me out of going there, no matter how great the review. And I love hamburgers.

Granted it's not the most cutting edge site, but shouldn't have someone spoken up ?

or maybe it's just me....?

Fogo de Chao w/ a Chowpup.

(I assume this will get moved if it's not foodcentric enough)

I'd like to take my Chowpup (5yrs.) here next week. While I don't expect her to eat for free I also don't want to pay full price for her easily full tummy.
What's the rule of thumb or what's fair in this situation.

Thanks.

(and again sorry if this topic is too general)

Taquería Chihuahua closed! ISO similar mexican food westside

It looked like they were/have moved to Venice blvd. near Inglewood Blvd. in Mar vista (I don't recall if it's to the east or west.) . On the south side of the street. the last time I drove by they were not open yet. If you're near by or have friends near by, check it out.

Mellow Weekday Breakfast in Santa Monica?

PLEASE, skip Jinky's. The food is fine, the service S**cks. It's one of the few places I've left a 2% - 3% tip.

Instead, try:

Cora's: On Ocean. (South of Colorado, North of Pico) Limited menu and SEATING, Yum food.
Georgian Hotel: (Ocean Ave. near Santa Monica Blvd.) Beautiful hotel w/ thoughtful food. Go early.
Callahan's: (Wilshire @ 13th.) Good diner fare.
Joe's: (Main St. @ Ashland) Great diner fare.
Snug Harbor: (Wilshire @ 24th.) Very mellow. Patio. Good Eats!
Broadway Deli: (B-way @ 3rd St.) Not liked by many on this board. But, I think they know how to cook eggs.
Tacos Por Favor: (Olympic 2 14th) Breakfast burrito anyone ? Awesome !

Mellow.. Summer.. Santa Monica...it's a hard find. I hope one of these places fits.

Cooking w/ Wine and... w/ Chowpups ?

What dishes (w/ wine ) are okay for kids and which are not ?

Fondue ? I'd think, no.
Short Ribs (Braised) ? I'd think, yes
etc....

what do you think ?

On a separate note, at what age would you let your child have a sip of wine ?

In my day, I had a taste around 10.

ISO Downtown Kid-Friendly Restaurant

Weiland's is 'pup friendley.
As is 410 Boyd Street.
If the 'pups can handle it, grab a "high top" (bar area table) at Nick and Steph's. This will touch all the bases.

I used to get it at Vincente Foods, but they don't carry it any more. Today's L.A. Times lists, Say Cheese as carrying it, but call for availability.

Any recs. for who has it in stock on a regular basis ? In the greater L.A. area. Thanks.
