except for Noao and the Japanese Mkt in N Miami are there any real sushi places that serve the real thing Not Thai or Chinese style ,no mango mayo, spicy this or that. just good fish served with respect and tradition.

please give more info on east15, top 5 may be an exageration I really am not familiar w too many LA places I will say I spent 2 wks. in Hawaii ate at about at the top Places and Ike still in the top five. I have a place in the city and will go to east 15 asap

I spent 2hrs at the sushi bar at Shumai it is still the Best sushi in NJ and in the top 5 in the US,I and the boss placed ourselves in the hands of Ike and jack the following are just a sample of a few of there masterpiece creations spec ramen soup, grilled toro salad,fresh lobster w yuzu relish,warmed toro sushi,king crab w pickled radish,clam muscle,monkfish liver w spice tuna sans mayo,silken salmon belly, this was only a sampling.These guys left to their own will provide as good or better Japanese sushi experience than any high end place in NYC at half the cost,we are truly blessed to have this place in NJ all would do well to treat yourselves do set at the bar and sit back and relax.

Best food and fun in Cabo
Just returned stayed at PB sunset La Freda was 5 star food service and serv, be sure to resv when the singer is there, the best was La Fonda truly a foodies dream don't miss tde marrow bones and braised pork shoulder, this is some of the most authentic and well prepared MEXICAN food ever .
San Juan Report on Marmalade & Loquillo
I too just retrd and agree re marmalade, staff and Peter the chef were great, had the 5 course tasting w/wines food waas 2star but too rich and not cooked to order, wines were great but pours were very small,too expensive for the quality.Went to la perla the next nite,food was 3 star but no zing, nrxt time I'll stick to the local places. THhe best was the hotel La Concha atrue 5 star experience.

Shumai a stellar Bday
My son and our spouses had a Ike's choice evening last saturday we ate all that he had and then sum, this is still the best sushi bar that I've eatin' in dollarwise,inventiveness w/o the mayo-eel sauce frenzy of most "new style" sushi chefs. WE had excellent ponzu sashimi, octpus salad, the most OUTSTANDING mackerel and uni. I've been eating sushi for 25 yrs. + there really is no reason to go anywhere else, including Nobu,Masa or morimoto.

I will be staying at the new W in fll I have res at Naoe and plan on going to Hiro's, may drive up to Pelligrino's in Deerfield any other choices either Italian not Casa D' or european is Mark's in SOBE still good

Best Chinese in TRISTATE
SZECHAN HOUSE in Hamilton Twp,a suburb of Trenton has been open 10 months and is the best authentic chinese restaurant between philly and New York, last eve we had a new years banquet some of the most inventive,fresh tasting food i.e., mixed seafood squid,shrimp,seacucumber in lite white sauce; chichen cut like flowers in sweet&spicy sauce; 12 dishes in all everyone expertly served. Apparentyly this place was voted to the top 100 in the USA, you know its good when the vast number of customers are asian and the mix of licence plates are from the tristate area, the owner is a stunning host ready to assist the nonasians in selecting a marvelous meal,service and decor are superb, no need to travel to NYC for the real deal.
