two year old home-canned jelly... ok to use??

The year shelflife is for quality of the canned good not safety. If it was properly treated you should be fine.

Edmonton Assistance

I agree about the Thanh thanh - 10718 101 Street Northwest. The Beef satay soup is good and spicy!

Special diet - help with snacks!

King Arthur Flour in Calgary?

You won't find many imported flours in Canada as the import tariffs on wheat/flour are prohibitive. It is a protectionist tariff backed by the Canadian Wheat board. Milk/ dairy products have a similar tariff.

An interesting "food challenge" at work

If your fridge at work has a freezer you could freeze the cooked prawns and put them in the fridge the morning you want them...

Any kind of cheese

Use them on a green salad with baby greens and some balsamic vinaigrette and some toasted nuts or a fresh cheese (feta, goat, queso fresco)?

Interesting popcorn toppings

I like cajun seasoning mixed with just a hint of white sugar and seasoning salt. It's sweet, salty, savoury and Spicy!

Looking for fine kosher salt in Edmonton

Have you tried Andy's IGA or Sobey's on Lessard rd? They have fairly large selections of Kosher foods.

Also you could give Barb at Bosch Kitchen centre a call to see if she carries it.

I also REALLY like the Thia orchid! The hot and sour soup is awesome!

St. Albert lunches?

I like Socrates for breakfast on the odd weekend I'm out that way and I've heard their dinner is pretty good...

In Edmonton for the July long weekend with my family and brother in law & family from Ont on their first visit

I know it's a chain, but I really like it... When you are at The Mall I really like cactus club.

Delux burger bar there is also okay. (I like the grocery cart fries, but the burger patties tasted too much like meatloaf for me)

Downtown 107ave and 101st Thanh thanh is a good Vietnamese restaurant.
Jasper and 113st Sicilian Pasta kitchen (local chain) is pretty good. Large portions for price.
On Saturday Morning be sure to check out the farmers market on 104st and jasper ave. They have a bunch of super yummy food carts (the waffle cart is awesome!) and the Queen of tarts as well as the blue plate dinner serve breakfast inside their stores along 104st.

Community Supported Farms (YEG)

They said veggies too on their sign at the farmers market!

They are Called Spring Harvest farm out of Stony plain. Their website only promotes the angora products, but she always has a cooler of goat meat too.http://www.springharvestfarm.ca/?page_id=2

Le Parfait Canning jars YEG

Hi,

My mother bought a whole bunch of Le Parfait canning jars years ago and I have gotten them handed down to me. I want to use them for dry storage and for liquids, but the seal are missing on a few or very cracked.

Is there any where in town who sells the seals?

Thanks!

Edmonton City Market

It's a very lightly creamed horseradish with jalapenos. I've just started to eat horseradish, so I haven't tasted it, but my parents are really fond of it.

Edmonton City Market

My dad has had a love affair with the Jam Lady's hot shot horse radish for about 10 years now. (back when they were at a Calgary farmer's market).
