Pollo Inka Peru 89-12 Northern Blvd

If you haven't been to this restaurant go immediately. This restaurant has 5 Star Food. I've had the Salmon Al Ajonjoli (salmon with mashed potato and orange sauce) and Jalea De Mariscos (fried seafood combination) and the food is beyond great. Extremely low prices. Incredible service and ambiance. This restaurant is exceptional quality.

Szechuan in Elmhurst?

I went yesterday for the first time and ordered the lunch special take out #18 Shredded Beef with Spicy Pepper which I had for dinner. It was excellent and the portion quite large. A bargain for just $5.50 which includes tax. I plan to return often. The restaurant was very busy with eat in and take out.

Puerto Rican

A Puerto Rican restaurant opened in Astoria on July 1st at 3131 Steinway St called Mi Candela. I did read a few reviews that were mixed.

Manor Oktoberfest

With so few German Restaurants in NYC, I can't believe that I only just became aware of
Manor Oktoberfest located on Yellowstone Blvd in Forest Hills. I can actually reached this restaurant by subway from Continental Ave. Is anyone familiar with this restaurant. Is it new?
Thanks.

What is the best place to eat in Jackson Heights?

I also like Himalayan Hut. Another good choice is Nanking at 72-23 37th Ave. You can choose Chinese, Thai & Mughlai. I've had for lunch chilli shrimp, chilli chicken, veg manchurian and many other dishes all very good. Lunch specials include soup ($6.95 to $8.95). Nice atmosphere and service.

New Thai Take Out - Jackson Heights

The Thai Takeout is on 37th Ave & 72nd St. Don't confuse this with the restaurants on Roosevelt & 72nd St. This is a very small take out that just opened. I don't even believe it has a name.. The food is good but certainly not on the level of Sri in Woodside or Zabb. This is a place for those getting off at the 74th St station who want to bring home food for dinner that's inexpensive.

New Thai Take Out - Jackson Heights

It just opened at 37th Ave & 72nd St. Thai Soup $1.50, Samosa 3 for $1 and 3 choices over rice both white & fried for $4.50. No sales tax. Just two small tables for seating. Very small, very clean. The choices are chicken dishes and vegetables dishes. No seafood or beef. I just took home the 3 choices over rice which will be tonight's dinner and Thai Soup. I did a little sampling and it's good. The 3 choices over rice is not very large but for the price good value. They also have spring rolls.

Spicy Mina's

That area has so little foot traffic versus 74th Street. Hopefully, if she decided to reopen it will be 74th St or 37th Ave. I know that I would be a regular. A bakery opened just two doors away and closed in less than one year. It's possible she's tired of being an owner and will become a Chef in Manhattan.

Peppino's in woodside- closed???

Whenever I'm in the area I stop in for a slice. I'm also hoping they reopen. The place could use a fresh new look.

A New Tibetan/Nepali in JH's

Yet another Tibetan/Nepali in JH's called Shangi La Express at 72-24 Roosevelt Ave. I just noticed it yesterday and plan to visit soon. Standard menu with low prices and the place was busy at 2PM. Very close to Tibetan Yak. I'm amazed at the number of Tibetan/Nepali restauants in JH's. I've been to most but haven't decided on a favorite.

Polish Restaurant - JH's

I can't believe it. A Polish restaurant in JH's (37th Ave & 87th St) is opening soon. This is fabulous news. I so enjoy a good hearty Polish meal but don't enjoy traveling by subway to either Greenpoint or the Lower East Side. If the food is good, this will be a success. I plan to be a regular. A Starbuck's, Wine Shop & Polish Restaurant all within a few blocks. What's next?

$5-$6 spanish lunch in queens like the bronx

I like El Rinconcito de Mama at 63-16 Broadway. They have many lunch choices from $5 to $6. Large restaurant with very nice atmosphere and 3 TV's for entertainment. Entree comes with either yellow or white rice, beans and other side dishes. This restaurant is what you're looking for very close to JH's. Lunch is served 7 days a week.

Afghan Kebab #4 Jackson Heights

I had lunch yesterday at Afghan Kebab #4 after a very long absence. I ordered a combo beef & chicken combo with comes with basmatic rice and salad. The rice was from the night before heated up and it was awful. The beef with over cooked dry and tasteless. The chicken wasn't much better. The salad was good. This meal was no bargain at $10.95. Imagine if I had ordered off the regular menu at much higher prices. Really nice atmosphere, service and pleasant soft background music. That was nice but awful food. I've been dining at Afghan Kebab Houses 1, 2 &3 in Manhattan for 25+ years especially the one on the East Side and never had a bad meal until yesterday. Why or why would they reheat rice. If the rice had been made fresh it would not have been a complete disaster. I've always enjoyed Afghan Kebab basmati rice. I won't return. No second chance. What would make me believe it would better next time.

JH Needs a Great Bagel Shop

See if you can convince the owners of Espress 77 to carry Brooklyn Bagel's. I haven't been to Espresso 77 in a long while but I do remember they had bagels and I think from M&V. Would I pay a lot extra for a Brooklyn Bagel.......absolutely. It's a lot easier walking a block to Espresso 77 then traveling to Astoria. The public will pay extra for quality. Plus Expresso 77 could use the Bagel's to make sandwiches like they do at Brooklyn Bagel.

best pizza in elmhurst?

semajnt: I've been having eat in lunch at Chu Ying Chinese at 67-21 Woodside Ave and I'm pleased. Without soup lunch it's $6.95 (I don't recommend soup they offer for an extra $1.80 which is bland.) Sometimes I take a lunch special home for dinner. Dinner menu prices are HIGH. Nice dining room friendly young waitstaff. They deliver.

I'm a enormous fan of the fresh sautee spinach in garlic with white meat chicken at King Wah on Northern Blvd & 70th St (big portion for $6.75 and worth much more). For lunch it's $5.25 with soup. Its the only Chinese restaurant that I know that has fresh spinach plus they have brown rice which I prefer. I've never ordered anything else. They deliver but I've always picked up since I'm close by. Nice place to dine in.

fiesta mexicana -- gone again?

Jeff, thanks. I've been wondering what would open. I'll look for La Abunduncia when I'm in the area. I've ordered two take out lunches (bargain) recently at El Rinconcito de Mama at 63-16 Broadway. Lots of daily choices. The inside is amazing. Its very large, modern, bright & clean with 3 televisions playing. Across the street is a Spanish Cafeteria that I'm told also has good food at low prices which I'll try next time which is always very busy for lunch. Also, El Rinconcito de Mama has an International Buffet every Sunday from 10AM to 5PM for $9,95. They deliver family style meals to your door. Pick up a menu. Ex: whole chicken, rice, beans, salad, green fried plantain & 2 Lt Soda for $15.95. Goat stew is $16.95 plus many other choices.

best pizza in elmhurst?

I went 3 times to Louie's and was disappointed twice. The two $1.50 slices were not good but the $3.00 slice with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and basil was good. I've never seen the Grandma pizza. If I happen to be in the area and see the Grandma pizza I'll try it.

JH's Chow Bargain

The Elm Cafe at Broadway & 75th St (across from Pacific Market) has doubled its space and they offer 3 sides with rice for $4.50 (Large) & $2.50 (Small), I took a look and they only had 4 choices. They also have 7 Momo's for $3. I plan on returning and experiment with the $2.50 portion. The place was busy at 12:30.

New to Sunnyside, Queens - Where to eat/shop?

Wow, no one mentioned Butcher Block (43-26 41st St). Incredible home cooked meals at low prices (take out only). Once you go, you'll be hooked. I live several miles from Butcher Block but whenever I'm in the area, I take food home. If I lived nearby, I would never cook. Caution: Portions are large. If you don't want a meal sandwiches are awesome, cheap and enormous. Pick up the list of daily specials.

best pizza in elmhurst?

Mi Bella Pizza (7804 Woodside Ave) placed a menu under the door today. Can I assume this is just another vile poor excuse for pizza in the Elmhurst/JH's/Woodside area? I may stop by just to take a look when I'm in the area. Fortunately, Nick's is just one stop away.

El Coyote, dazzling new spot in JH

I pass by Fiesta Mexicana often during the day both at lunch and dinner and rarely see customers. This is not a good sign plus no liquor license. I do have a menu : $9.95 (enchiladas, burrito, chiles rellenos), $14.95 (grilled shell steak, skirt steak), $15.95 (Red Snapper).
All shrimp dishes $12.95. Chicken dishes $10.95.

El Coyote, dazzling new spot in JH

I went on Friday for lunch and it was an incredible bargain/experience. The food, atmosphere & service is incredible. The waiter offered a complimentary cream of mushroom soup that was very good. This followed with fresh chips and dip. I ordered the Enchiladas (beef & chicken) with a salad that was exceptional. The Check = $8.67. I plan on returning often for lunch.

Queens-Fiesta Mexicana: number disconnected

I pass this restaurant many times each week and never see any customers. The snack & coffee section does some business but not the restaurant. No liquor license and I'm sure for a very good reason and no menu in the window. I don't like just walking in and seating down and not knowing anything about the menu and prices. Since the place does almost no business that I know of I would question the freshness of the food. Why did this restaurant reopen?
