Rehearsal Dinner Restaurant near Plainfield, NH

Thanks for all your good suggestions, VTer. Believe me, as a family we all love Vermont and wish it well in these difficult times. My niece, who grew up in the Upper Valley, decided on Jesse's in Hanover because she's enjoyed it in the past anmd with so little time before the wedding she just needed to be able to cross "rehearsal dinner" off her list. We will be back for fine dining in another occasion -- soon, I hope.

Glad to know th bridge across the gorge is intact I spent all my summers in VT as a child but probably haven't been to Quechee in decades.

Thank you for all your good suggestions. Given how soon this DIY wedding is coming up my niece (the bride) and her fiance have decided not to try to replicate the destination rehearsal dinner at Simon Pearce. Instead, we going somewhere easy and nice in Hanover. But now I have a great foodie itinerary for my next trip to the Upper Valley. With any luck, the covered bridge will be back across Queechee Gorge and Simon Pearce will be in full swing. Again, thanks, all.

Help! We had planned a rehearsal dinner on September 23 at Simon Pearce in Quechee, VT but, alas, they may not have recovered from the flood in time. We're looking for a restaurant that can accommodate 26 (including 3 children) within about 15 miles of Planfield, NH. Wedding is at Home Hill Inn so we're looking for an alternative site in the area. Ideally, we'd like a private room or at least relatively quiet place for good conversation. Thanks, all.

Just moved to Peaks Island, need suggestions

We recently had a good, hearty supper at Norm's Bar & Grill on Congress Street, in the arts district near High St. Very casual, appeared to be populated by students and others associated with MECA. Here's a link to a news story about Norm's: http://www.portlandphoenix.com/food/d...
The article is 5 years old, but pretty much describes the experience we had just a couple of months ago.

Maine - Good, Bad, or Eh...ok?

In Brunswick, we've had quite good dinners this past winter at two new restaurants: Clementine's and Bacari. Both are on Maine Street; both are small. Bacari is owned by a member of the family that runs the Dolphin Restaurant in Harpswell, which we've enjoyed in the summer. The deserts at Dolphin are outstanding, and the view overlooking the harbor is lovely at sunset if you can get a window seat.

Portland, Me - any good places to eat?

We recently had a good meal at Norm's Bar & Grille on Congress Street (near Merrill Auditorium) -- casual and not expensive.

Sending chocolate

Simply Divine Brownies in Brunswick, ME (http://www.simplydivinebrownies.com/)... a wide range of extraordinary brownies. They ship all over the world. If you're near Brunswick and can visit their shop/bakery/shipping facility (all in one room at Fort Andross on Maine Street) you can taste samples and save on internet order charges.

Suggestions, please for place to eat in Portland, ME near Portland Stage Company.

I'm looking for a place to eat within walking distance of Portland Stage Company, which is on Forest Ave near Congress. Funky and casual are okay as long as food is good. Fancier is okay, too, but curtain is at 7:30 PM so we need a place with reasonably fast service. Thanks!
