Penzey's Spices catalog--is it just me?
Daughter Patty operates the Spice House, Bill Jr. runs Penzey's and most recipe blends originate from Bill Sr. and his wife Ruth... very likely.
Looking for Good Source of Prime Beef in the Milwaukee Area
Agreed, Grasch's on Lilly Road and North Ave (140th & North) in Brookfield. All prime beef, best butchers in town.

Ina's Sagaponack Corn Pudding is amazing!

Milwaukee dining?
Lake Park Bistro is an absolute must. A beautiful French restaurant located in Lake Park, with unrivaled views of Lake Michigan, great service, and the magnificent food. The three course plated Sunday brunch is amazing. One of the many fine Bartolotta group restaurants. http://www.lakeparkbistro.com
A hidden gem serving fantastic American fusion cuisine in a comfortable cozy atmosphere.. try Crazy Water Restaurant on 2nd street in Walker's Point just south of downtown. (located in the old Zur Krone bar, a place we locals surely remember!) http://www.crazywaterrestaurant.com

Good Eats In Milwaukee?
Fore pizza, Classic Slice on KK in Bay View. Their pizza closely resembles New York style and the slices are "bigger than your head" as they tout... actually closer to half of a large pizza (think of the slice Adam Richman holds up next to the baby). All slices are made fresh to order, not par cooked, with premium ingredients and wide range of toppings. Seriously great pizza.
Higher end burgers in Milw.
Umami Moto on Milwaukee Street serves Kobe sliders with Taleggio cheese and Nueske’s bacon... killer.
Thanksgiving for two?
Every year we have our own Thanksgiving-for-two so that I get the chance to plan, shop, cook all day and make our favorites. I prepare roasted capon with sage stuffing as an alternative to turkey and pair with traditional sides. An 8-10 pound capon ensures plenty of leftovers to snack on later, for soups, sandwiches and a good Tetrazzini for Friday night.
Favorite Food/Recipe/Resource Website?
I find saveur.com a solid source for recipes, etc.
Milwaukee in October
You mention you're a fun group, then you MUST head over to Lakefront Brewery and take the tour. The guides are informative, laid back and hilarious.... cool atmosphere and the beer is great! For $6 you get to sample 4 - 6oz pours of your choice throughout the duration of the tour, a really nice pint glass at the end, and a token for a free pint of Lakefront beer at your choice of several fun local bars. The Wicked Hop in the Third Ward is on the list of places to use your token so you could either grab lunch there or hit up some of the other places suggested in this thread.. all good ones I might add. Just one correction, it's the Coquette Cafe :)

What else besides meat is heavenly in the cast-iron skillet?
we use our 10" on the grill; salmon, tuna, blackened grouper.... no mess, no stick, no smoke to deal with, fantastic!
Need your help in Milwaukee
I would highly recommend dinner at Ristorante Bartolotta, an authentic cozy and inviting Italian restaurant located in the charming Village of Wauwatosa (just west of Milwaukee, north east of New Berlin) They focus on simple and traditional recipes from Italy's northern region using fresh, quality ingredients. It's the one place that out of town colleagues insist I take them specifically for their Grigliato Misto di Mare. Wine list is great and their tiramisuu is the best in town.

the Lobby of the Pfister Hotel downtown Milwaukee is a gorgeous place to have a few cocktails, enjoy the live piano music and people watch. Then head into the Mason Street Grill located inside the hotel for a fantastic meal in a very comfortable atmosphere.

Zaffiro's Pizza on the east side is a very casual bar/restaurant for delicious thin crust pizza. http://www.zaffirospizza.com
Alterra Cafe At the Lake, 1701 N Lincoln Memorial Dr. Milwaukee. Excellent coffee shop with its own coffee roasting facility inside, across from the McKinley Marina on Lake Michigan... prime place for people-watching.

Classic Sliders Recipe
I use Alton Brown's recipe.. simple and delicious. The step of rolling out the burger meat is key. Be sure to make a big batch cuz these go fast!

Your favorite cocktail party snacks
A favorite crostini recipe: slice a French baguette, grill each side, smear with Gorgonzola and top with a sliced green apple... so delicious!
The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, WI area
Great suggestions above. The Mason Street Grill is a wonderful restaurant right inside the Pfister Hotel. They're open for lunch Monday-Friday from 11:30 - 2:00 p.m. and serve classic American Grill fare. There is a Lake Perch Sandwich on the menu which is definitely classic Wisconsin food. Enjoy your stay in Milwaukee!

If you can't fit in a trip to Kopp's, they do ship their custard on Tuesday's via 2 day-air. Ten pints of Kopp's costs $75 plus shipping. The frozen custard ships beautifully.
Looks like they're currently upgrading web servers but check back.

Grilled chicken wing recipe: Temp and Time?
I always follow Bittman's method of grilling wings. Flavor any way you like, then grill indirect for about 15 minutes, move to direct heat for 5. The indirect heat method helps render the fat which results in nicely browned and delicious wings
Here's the link to the NYT article. Have fun grilling your wings!

agreed.... I love this stuff. Great flavor, all natural ingredients & preservative free. I use the Soy Vay Veri Teriyaki as a marinade for flank steak and pork tenderloin, let sit overnight and then grill.... fantastic!
