Lunch food near Savannah Airport?
www.fatzcafe.com
It's straight down the road (over the interstate and past wal-mart) from the airport. It's a local chain that has surprisingly good food. The firecracker sticks are my fave.
WHY WHY WHY Did My Corned Beef Come Out So TOUGH?!
Forget to plug in the slow cooker and it isn't a worry:)
Best meal in Savannah- Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House
Tehama, don't feel bad..it is closed for January...just means you gotta plan another trip!
Hilton Head, SC, restaurants
I know this is a bit belated but it may help those in the Spring. As far as farmer's markets go, there is one every Thursday afternoon in downtown Bluffton. There is a couple who sells peaches and tomatoes on 278W on your way to 95...I have never stopped so I can't attest to the quality. There is also a stand at the beginning of the bridge to HHI with fresh produce.
It's Greek to Me is a favorite with locals but that might just be because we don't have many Greek options.
Street Meet is a fun restaurant...really laid back and good bar food...a rarity in the tourist trap heavy HHI. They can get overwhelmed with a large group.
Also, a note on Kenny B's. It has the most authentic New Orleans/Cajun food you can find on the island. Take that qualifier as you will. One thing that disappoints me about Kenny B's is its the atmosphere...It's in a strip mall in the space one would normally find a subway. The fried alligator is delicious though.
If you are willing to stop in Bluffton, Jim & Nicks (local chain) and Monster Pizza will never disappoint.
Korean BBQ in SC/Savannah?
I haven't made it back since I asked!! Summer in the Lowcountry keeps me at the beach. Now that it is fall, I will be going up to the Midlands more and will report back..promise!
Where to eat on the north shore (oahu)
I'm jealous as the North Shore is one of my favorite vacation spots and I was married at Turtle Bay 2 years ago. The breakfast buffet at Turtle Bay with the coconut/macadamia nut syrup on anything is fantastic!
Matsumoto's Shaved Ice is a must dessert/snack.

Jameson's in Haleiwa is great for dinner..It is island nice...seafood...overlooks the ocean and has great sunset views. Been going for at least 14 years and it hasn't let me down.

Enjoy and please report back!
Korean BBQ in SC/Savannah?
I've recently been reading up on Korean BBQ and am dying to try one. Has anyone been to a decent, if not fantastic, Korean BBQ place in the Low Country, the Midlands or in the greater Savannah area? Do they even exist around here? I see Kim's Korean BBQ and Japanese Steakhouse comes up in Charleston but I am a bit leery.
Best Food Blogs?
I really enjoy Noble Pig.

Her stories are amusing and I love the pictures of all the necessary ingredients.
Food that Most People Love and You Don't...
All breakfast foods. Eggs, bacon and mayonnaise. Makes "breakfast for dinner" difficult in the meremere clan..
The Smokey Pig in Ashland, VA--totally overrated!
DH and I stopped at the Houndstooth Cafe on our way from South Carolina to Pennsylvania. I respectfully disagree on rating this one as an 8. Maybe a 3. DH and I ordered the pulled pork and the shredded beef brisket sandwich and shared both. The beef brisket was dry and crumbled when you bit into the sandwich. The pork was passable. The hush puppies contained large, whole kernels of corn and the meal was very coarse. Overall, DH and I left hungry and disappointed.
Nordstrom Cafe- Surprisingly good
Nordstrom's cafe was better a few years ago. They have changed it from a more traditional restaurant to a more self-service style cafe. I've been the to the Mariposa cafe at Neiman Marcus in both Miami and Honolulu and have had great meals/service both times.
Beaufort, SC
Sea Island Wine & Gourmet on Boundary St. is fun for lunch. Nippy's is a bit of country right downtown (good only if the weather is nice). Don't bother with the drive to Hilton Head...I drive up to Beaufort for better, more authentic food.
Need Help finding Crystal Hot Sauce in Raleigh
I know this is late but all Publix supermarkets have them but it looks like there aren't any in NC. I order 12 packs online for less than $20...well worth it!
Places to eat from a Beaufort SC native.
Beaufortboy, I love you. Seriously. DH and I just moved to the general Beaufort area and wanted a good lunch. Noon found us hot, humid and cranky. Sea Island Gourmet Food and Wine fixed all of that and more. The grilled chicken club was unlike anything we had ever had and we adored the aoili. The tea with fresh lemon and strawberry was divine and revitalizing. Ooh and the desserts! My only disappointment was to learn that more desserts are made throughout the day and I missed the lemon cake. We can't wait to try the rest of your suggestions! thank you, thank you, thank you!
kingman az whats good
This is probably late, however, it addresses the above questions. The Golden Corral is fine if that is what you want--cheap, easy, and slightly depressing. The restaurant in the mountains that serves game is called the Hualapai Mountain Lodge. It is about a 25 minute drive into the mountains from Kingman and involves an unpaved road. Call ahead and make reservations and only go in the summer. The elk come right up to the windows. Mattina's just underwent new ownership and a renovations...something greatly needed. Never been that impressed with the food for the prices...who has ever heard of an Italian restaurant running out of tomatos? The Kingman Steakhouse is a better steak bet than the Dambar but a bit more local. It is right off of I-40 on Stockton Hill. For good Mexican, go to Oyster's off of Route 66 just up from the I-40 exit. As scary as it seems, people swear by Alfonso's breakfast burritos (right across from the steakhouse). The Brunswick Hotel downtown is probably the nicest restaurant though the food is hit or miss -- skewed in the favor of missing. Calico's off of Beale street has a pretty solid diner/mom and pop menu that is pretty consistent. Oddly, Calico's has some of the best soup in town. Generally, stay away from ethnic food in K-town. They really only know steak, grease and beer...in a good way.
What do Chowhounds do for a living (besides eat of course)?
DH and I are 2 years out of law school...I prosecute child sex crimes and DH prosecutes serious drug crimes. After student loans, food and wine are our biggest expenses...and worth every penny!
Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations New Orleans Episode [Moved from New Orleans board]
I found it a bit disappointing. The two places Davwud mentioned, Dooky Chase and Jaques-Imo's, are by far two of the best NOLA restaurants. DH pointed out that the point wasn't to show the best place to go but rather give a feel for the post-Katrina NOLA scene. And I had a great laugh at Vic's Kangaroo Cafe--it's tiny, it's local and where I spent my senior year of college.
