Looking for a real taco and a margarita in the valley

Last weekend I was dying for the ultimate Mexican combo, a real taco and a nice refreshing margarita. I could not think of a place that serves both! I know of a lot of places that serve margaritas but most of them offer American versions of tacos, you know the kind with lettuce, tomatoes and all of those other things that just don't belong in a taco. I was looking for a traditional Mexican taco-- small tortilla, cilantro and onions but all of the places that I could think getting that taco don't serve margaritas. Any suggestions in Studio City/Sherman Oaks area?

South St. CheeseSteak-input?

Philly West on Westwood Blvd is better than South Street.

Visiting LA for the first time - Recommendations?

I also suggest Boneyard Bistro in Sherman Oaks. It is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. They also have great a great beer list if you are into that. If you are looking for less expensive sushi in Studio City (not cheap but not too expensive), I suggest Yen sushi on Coldwater and Ventura or Iroha, also on Coldwater and Ventura. Both are very good.

Nola Ice in Sherman Oaks - anyone been?

I'm very excited about this place. It's nice to have the option of shaved ice in this valley heat!

Best Taco Stands in LA

I agree with ns1 and laura w, great tacos off at El Taurino. There is also Chanos on Figueroa.

L.A. - Update, Please!

I agree that you should check Mamash out. The food is excellent and there are a lot of choices other than sushi. I've been there a few times now and have had the rib eye, indian crusted tuna, lamb shank and several of their appetizers. All have been good.

hatfield's or lucques?

Lucques has excellent food and a great atmosphere for small or large parties. I would go there over Comme Ca- definitely. The atmosphere at Comme Ca seems to be, at least to me, more about the scene than the food. The food is good but not as good as Lucques. I've never been to Hatfields, so can't comment on that.

Special Occasion Asian Fusion

There is a new Asian-Fusion restaurant in Beverly Hills called Mamash. It's a Kosher restaurant but you would never think it from the flavor of the dishes. I went there last week and was really impressed by the food, the reasonable prices and the portions. It's elegant but not over done and is a good place for a big group, including children. I understand they also have a private dining space for parties. You may want to look into that.
