Beaufort NC

Thank you! I ended up making reservations at Stillwater and cancelled mine at Spouter. Now I'm just deciding on if I should do drinks before or after dinner? hehe

Hmmm okay, I made reservations at Spouter on the water front and had planned on doing drinks and appetizers at stillwater. Now I'm thinking about changing my mind.

Beaufort NC

Going to beaufort Nc for my 8 year anniversary next weekend. I'm wanting to have dinner on the waterfront but based on reviews I'm torn between Spouters Inn and Stillwater. Any suggestions or opinions would be welcomed! Also need a cheap/light breakfast idea and a more traditional big breakfast idea! (I think I found our lunch spots)

NC Wineries for 21st birthday in March

I don't know, I know wine preference is all based on personal taste and likes/dislikes but I've been to Grove and had a lot of their wines. The Traminette is pretty good and around Christmas I had one of their blushes they renamed Red Nose, but there is some aftertaste in their wine that I don't like very much. It's almost a musty taste. I've heard a lot of people say that the wine tastes like the Haw River (since it's on the river's wine trail). I still think the staff is great and the location is perfect for summer concerts/picnics (right down the street from my sister's house)!

NC Wineries for 21st birthday in March

I suggest staying at the hotel on the grounds of the Shelton Vineyard http://www.sheltonvineyards.com the winery is nice, wines are great, hotel even has a wine bar and the restaurant is great! With that being said, from the hotel there are about 5 or 6 wineries within 15 mins driving distance. Not sure how many days you are planning, but you could easily hit all of the wineries in a day or two.

Since he's turining 21, check out http://www.sandersridge.com/ they have a restaurant, winery, and a zip line. I do believe it's close to all of those in the yadkin valley

GREAT LOCAL NON-FRIED SEAFOOD! MYRTLE BEACH

PS I read every post about seafood in MB before posting that. I've also read reviews on urbanspoon, yelp, trip advisor, etc before going here. I did not see any questions regarding grilled/non fried seafood..they were mostly just looking for fresh which no doubt can be found at places such as Mr. Fish and Russells in Murrel's Inlet..I just know that sometimes Mr. Fish's was a little greasy when sauted!

GREAT LOCAL NON-FRIED SEAFOOD! MYRTLE BEACH

It may be the fact that I never have looked for this type of food as much..visiting the same 10 places every time I go! I do know that the time I've ordered the broiled version of a seafood platter instead of fried, the portion is less, and usually bland. If you have any suggestions of places I can find local seafood I'd appreciate it! No need for harsh words or capitalizing, everyone has different experiences based on where they've eaten!

GREAT LOCAL NON-FRIED SEAFOOD! MYRTLE BEACH

I go to Myrtle Beach every year, but this year is a little different. My fiance is doing a fitness competition and training for body building. Our usual beer, cheese burger, etc joints that we frequent are OUT of the question. I am looking for some place that I can get good fresh seafood that is not fried. This can be a market where I buy my own and cook in the condo or some where that does good steamed seafood. Let me rephrase my question to not offend any local residents. I am looking for preferably grilled or steamed sea food. We have to stay away from oil, butter, and heavily salted food.

We are staying on N Ocean Blvd in Myrtle. I am willing to drive to N Myrtle and if I have to down to Murrel's Inlet if it's some place worth it!

GRADUATION PARTY (moved from General Topics board)

Thank you! I had been doing some math and come up with 12lbs of meat ...THOUGH I am going to be doing only 12lbs TOTAL and people can choose one or the other..or be pigs and not leave food for anyone else! We are having the pay for this entire party from our sad little pockets! haha..unless I can get the family to pitch in.

The sides, I agree... 5-8lbs each was my guess. I am going to have cake, alchol, and snacks sitting around so once the food is gone it's gone. BETTER GET IN LINE FIRST! :)

Thanks! :)

Cooking with Love...what if you're in a bad mood?

if I'm in a bad mood you'd be lucky if I cooked at all...I usually tell my fiance to "find for yourself" either that or its chicken breast on the george forman and some steam fresh veggies! haha

GRADUATION PARTY (moved from General Topics board)

I am planning on having a graduation party for my fiance and I. We are both graduating from Graduate school in July. We will have friends and family from all over the US. We are expecting around 50 people. (that is a shot in the dark)

We have decided on bbq! I do live in NC!

chopped bbq
chopped bbq chicken or maybe chicken quarters
potato salad
slaw
baked beans

(then of course chips, cake, sweet tea, etc)

I was wondering how many lbs of each of the main items will I need? (the bbq, slaw, beans, tater salad). I will be ordering the bbq from a local joint but buying the rest from costco or sam's club -it's cheaper that way!

Thanks :)

what to do with leftover turkey tenderloin??

So I bought a honey Dijon marinated turkey tenderloin, it came with two of them in there. I know for a fact we will only eat half of one of them tonight.

Any suggestions on what to do with all the leftovers? (besides sandwiches for lunch)

Those crazy French! How do YOU eat your burger?

talking about where you place the condiments too...if you put the mayo on the bottom bun the fat creates a seal that stops the juices from the burger from getting the bun soggy!

RIBS! in NC

come on, there has to be ONE place with fantastic Ribs in NC!!!

I went to The Pitt in raleigh, they were good but no BBQ sauce. Not enough char marks on them. They weren't "Southern ribs". I want dry rubbed..smoked for 12 hours..then lathered with BBQ sauce!

Please help me find good ribs in NC!

Good Eats in Asheville, NC?

The Laughing Seed HANDS DOWN! Try the artichoke dip and the Caribbean Empanadas, they have curried butternut squash in them YUM!

Salsa's though it may be good...I was there a few weeks ago and their rating was almost a B! gross. Like a 90 or something.

romantic finger food

sounds good! Well, the room has tables and chairs and all of that. The crumbs wouldn't be an issue. I'm weird about eating in the ACTUAL bed anyway haha.

romantic finger food

so I am taking my girlfriend for an overnight getaway to a winery for a late Valentine's Day present. We are spending the whole day at the winery..eating lunch in the bistro....but then going to a romantic hotel to spend the night.

I want to bring some romantic finger foods with us for that night to eat...

I already have chocolate covered strawberries and we are going to buy the champagne and wine there at the winery (PS she doesn't know anything about this trip)

I was thinking cheese and crackers of course...

but what else? any ideas? The room has a fridge and microwave so I can take about anything, but I want it light and romantic.

Potluck!

Okay, so my girlfriend is having this potluck lunch at work for someone's going away party. Since she can't cook and I can, of course I have the chore. Well, they said they need main dishes.

I am broke, don't really care about these people, don't really know them (I know that all sounds mean), BUT I don't want to spend a lot of money. But still wow them with what I make, or at least make it taste good.

Any suggestions on cheap potluck main dishes. We are talkin $10 total. IT doesn't have to be something huge because there will be so much food.

Thanks!
