Rugantino
Just a question: has anyone eaten at Rugantino on St-Laurent recently? And do they recommend it? I am considering it for a sort-of romantic birthday dinner....
Le Petit Nissart (or Petit Toscan)
Hi there
We just went to eat tonight at le Petit Toscan on Marquette, and found it was now le Petit Nissart. Rated 4 **** in Guide Voir, but we were ...less than impressed. The food seemed too cold or two warm (read badly prepared), and while the waitress was pleasant she seemed to have a hard time managing the crowd. Has anyone else eaten here recently? Have they just changed owners over the past few days?
Best dining after midnight
Hello everyone
After a recent trip to Boston, where I was impressed with the quality of the found at the Franklin Cafe (open til 1:30 am), I was wondering what would be similar in Montreal. Where can one go for good food after midnight? (And I don't mean La Banquise, Reubens, etc...) Any suggestions? I know L'Express is open til 2 am...
Kynsna and Plettenberg Bay
Hello
I will be travelling the Garden Route in Apirl (from Canada) and was wondering what would be good choices in Knysna and Plett. Any suggestions? What is new, has great local food and perhaps a nice view...?

What's good and new on Tremont/South End
Hi everyone
I haven't been to Boston for a year, and am looking forward to trying out new places on Tremont and more generally around the South End. What is new, good and perhaps "contemporary American"? And don't be shy about recommending old favourites if you figure they beat hands down the new kids on the block!
Thanks
Iain
Fredericton...
Hi there
We are going to be passing through Frederiction next week and staying downtown in a BnB - anyone have any suggestions as to a good place to eat? Nothing too heavy, perhaps a bit funky in terms of decor. And open Monday nights!
Thanks
Iain
Where in the South End...?
Hi everyone and thanks for all the suggestions! Popular demand (and our schedule) suggests Tremont 647 and the Franklin Cafe!
Where in the South End...?
Hi
We're visiting Boston this weekend from Montreal, and I was wondering what everyone might recommend for dining in the South End. Something funky, not over-the-top expensive. Maybe "modern American" style food...
Montreal to Gaspesie - what not to miss
The Auberge du Grand Fleuve in Métis is wonderful - great food, local products and it's right on the river. The Auberge du Mange-Grenouille in Bic is also a knockout and generally gets reviews (and has prices!) reflected that. These are both in the Bas Saint-Laurent region going out to Gaspésie. Further out to the end of the peninsula is a little place called the Hotel de l'Étoile du nord (I think) in Cloridorme where the owner has his own smoke house and serves up very good food, again in a nice room right on the ocean.
Fav. BYOW restaurants? What're the best in the city?
Hi there. Have you tried Les Infidèles on Rachel near Saint-Hubert? Quite top notch as far as BYOB goes - French-inspired market cuisine. It can be around $100 for two though, in case you were looking for something cheaper!
Lunch near quays of the old port of Montreal
Try Bistro Origine, on the quai at the very foot of Saint-Laurent. A very nice terrace on a sunny day, and an inventive, tapas style menu. The prices are reasonable too!
