I didn't see last weeks show but I saw last night's. So boring! One of the contestants that was on Giada's team, the girl with the curly dark hair, look like one of the Next Food Truck contestants. It was her and two guys one might have been her brother. Not sure though. If this was brought up further down on this thread forgive. I don't have time to read them all. :)

Tonight was the worst! The beginning with the blood letting massage nauseating me.. There was really nothing on the show that would show an attraction to the country. The food was strange. Really a bad show in my opinion. It showed that the people were all the same. Bad show!

I understand your disdain for Miracle Whip. It's not my favorite either. I'm at my daughters house who is ill and I'm caring for her a few days. Was hankering for a egg salad sandwich and all she had in the fridge was miracle whip. I thought better than nothing. Well now I think maybe not. Its probably been there since August when she moved into this apt. So its not worth it. Peanut butter will do just fine. Thank you for your replies.

I was wondering a while ago if you spent your groupon at Alfoccino's. I remembered that you were going to Augurn HIlls and was curious if it was better than FH. Sorry to hear it wasn't very good. Very sad. When we moved here 5 years ago Alfoccino's F.H. was our go to if we wanted a good meal, close by. The food was so good 5 years ago. Tonight my hubby is at a business dinner there. When he told me where they were going I told him good luck. I'll be curious at how it will be. I'll report back.

I feel the same. Very disappointed. Maybe I did somethings wrong but I don't think so. I tasted it after it marinated about an hour. Meh. Maybe after a night in the fridge it will improve. I was excited about it but just didn't do anything for me at this point.

I love beans too! One of my favorites is a simple pinto bean soup. Soak beans overnight. Soup consists of chicken broth, chopped garlic and onion, salt and pepper. Simmer 3 hours or so. If you want to jazz it up a bit, add a ham hock before the simmer. To the bowl of soup you can add more chopped raw onions and cilantro. Or nothing at all.
left soup out at room temp, is it safe?
I might be corrected here, but since its room temp dairy, I'd toss it.

Just found an unopened carton of ultra pastuerized heavy cream in my fridge. The exp. date is 01/09/12. If it smells ok, is it ok to use? Thanks.

Not sure if this is the right board to post this question on but here goes. I have a built in water dispenser/filter with cold and hot water. I noticed recently when I filled a measuring cup with hot water there were all these little white things floating in the water. I thought maybe the cup hadn't been clean to begin with so I dumped out water, made sure the cup was cleaned and poured another cup of hot water. Floaties were still there. Poured a cup of the cold water and it was fine. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be. Thanks.

My hubby is out of town all week. This is what I'm going to make for us when he comes home Friday:
Lobster and Shrimp Pasta w/Sherry Tomato Cream
Prep time: 15 min. Total time: 45 min.
4 oz. favorite dried short pasta, such as penne
2 T. butter
2 lobster tails(about 5oz. each) in shells
6 large shrimp in shells
1 shallot, peeled, chopped
2 cloves garlic, peeled, chopped
1/4 pound sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup thinlysliced red bell pepper
Good pinch of crushed red pepper
14 cup dry sherry
1/3 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup crushed canned tomatoes
12 cup heavy whipping cream
2 T shredded Parmasean
Chopped parsley for garnish
Cook the pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water, drain pasta and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Add the obster tails and cook just until spots on their shells start to turn red, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add shrimp and cover, reduce the heat to low and cook about 5 min. Remove the lobster and shrimp from the skillet. When cool, remove lobster meat from shell and cut into large chunks. Remove shrimp from shells and leave whole.
Meanwhile, in the same skillet, add the shallot and garlic, saute 2 min. Add the mushrooms, pepper and pepper flakes. Saute about 5 min. or until mushrooms release their juices.
Deglaze the skillet with the sherry. Add the chicken broth and tomatoes and heat gently. Stir in the cream and cheese and heat through. If the sauce is too thick, thin with some of the reserved pasta water. Add the lobster, shrimp and cooked pasta and heat through. Transfer to individual serving bowls and garnice with parsley. Serve immediately.

Reading this and how it is strange to be buying fish out of a truck in a parking lot I just had to respond. When I lived in Minneapolis there was a truck that came up from the gulf(Galveston I think) with fresh shrimp and some fish. They came about once a month or so. They actually acquirred the shrimp and fish off the boat in the gulf and drove all night to MN and sold it out of their trucks in various parking lots throughout the city. I just purchased the shrimp. It was the most delectable shrimp ever! It was definitely wild, gulf shrimp.
I'm excited to hear about Oceanside. I do need to find out where their shrimp and other seafood is from. No farmed shrimp(or fish) is acceptable.

DeLallo brand of extra virgin olive oil
With all the talk lately about fraudulent EVOO I was wondering about the DeLallo brand. Does anyone know if it is pure. I was listening to the Splendid Table and the author that wrote a book about fraud EVOO was a guest. He gave two commercial brands, which I have bought because I thought was the better stuff. The brands are Colavita and Carapelli brands. I also have bought DeLallo. I hope its not fraudulent too!
Tassimo rocks
This was over a year ago. I'm sure it was a promotional thing. I would never buy a Tassimo. Its a $200 machine. But since it was offered as the "rebate" than why not! Wish I could find the discs easier in a coffee I really like. I'll check out tassimodirect.com as suggested by Chemicalkinetics. Thanks ChemK!

Tassimo rocks
We got a Tassimo as a "rebate" when we bought a new Bosch dishwasher. I'm having a hard time finding coffee that I like. I don't like the Gevalia at all, at least not the ones I tried. I kind of liked the Starbucks, but haven't found any for a long time. I guess because theyw ent to keureg. And the Maxwell house tastes bleh. The stores that carry the discs for Tassimo for are becoming less and less. The Meijer I shop at used to have a large selection for the Tassimo but now has hardly any. And Bed Bath and Beyond which used to have a whole wall for Tassimo has been taken over by Keureg. Any suggestions for finding a better selection of discs for Tassimo? I posted this on the Great Lakes board several weeks ago but no one has replied.
