Fat Bastard Burrito Co.
Had one today from the queen location - a medium or 'big' tequila lime chicken one...
tasted quite good but had the skimpiest amount of meat / guac / cheese on the thing it was ridiculous...she tried to plow the lettuce on as well and when i laughed at the guac she added a 'speck' more. The dude right after me commented on the skimpy amount of cheese as well. If that's how these guys roll on the toppings they're screwed. They need to get with the program.
Again, it was quite good, i just hate paying $12 for a burrito and they get all cheap on you :S
Roncesvalles area
I agree - but there's a ton of other spots that are cheaper and offer great produce as well - like the place next door. Ko is more for if you need organics or the harder to get stuff like you mention. It's really become more of a specialty store in my eyes. I like the mad mexican stuff they have as well : )
Far as where to hang out, Local is a nice pub, the Westerly has gotten popular and is across the street - a bit more upscale. Dizzy has a patio and micros as does Barque if you want BBQ...
LCBO spring beer release - finally a good release
Had the Westmalle which was great as well as that Panil sour beer - that Panil is amazing, absolutely loved drinking 2 bottles...highly recommended : )
The Junction Restaurants
I'd probably hit up the Westerly - i haven't been yet but it's new and fresh and getting quite good feedback - it's right across from the local and the cinema about 2 seconds from Hugh's
Can we revisit the PATH?
I've been going here a bunch - right below dundee place not in the foodcourt.
Good indian, and cheap - you get rice or nan a meat and a veg for 8 bones ; )
their butter chicken is the way to go as they use breasts and not thighs or whatever
Best place to grab a drink before dinner at Keriwa Cafe?
Sun Fa, haha that's gotta be the dodgiest bar around, there's some real beaut's hanging around that one!!!
Best Burger- Walking Distance from Eaton Center
was there today and had the burger - still very tasty as were the fries...
service was good, the daytime bartender upstairs is a nice dude and on top of things if not a bit nonchalant. Guess it's hit and miss - but for me still the best pub anywhere downtown
Eats at Dundas West and bloor street
Lots of good stuff on Roncy. My friend likes the Junction Eatery north on Dundas. As far as that strip of Bloor goes before Keele, good beer at Mugshot ; )

Best Roti?
Gandhi I think does some of the best East Indian curries in the city - the only problem i may have is that the food has become a little inconsistant so you never really know if your gonna get mind blowing roti or a so so...the last time i went there was far too much potato. Overall though if you want butter chicken or vindaloo though or even their biriyani that's where i'll hit. Mother India has become my go to and i have never had inconsistancies there and they use the same recipies (it's his sister)
For West Indian i like Bacchus for sure then maybe Ali's curry but i don't really love his shells with the split pea stuff (dal pouri?). I used to be all over Carribean Roti Palace when i was in the annex but found the goat began to get really badly trimmed and there was way too much flub where there should have been meat. Also it went from the friendly family vibe to all of a sudden to too-cool homey vibe which kinda did it for me. Their hot sauce and doubles though are the best.

Amazing nite at Harlem
I go for lunch once a week as i work around the corner and i really like the place. Their fried chicken is excellent, salads fresh, and mac & cheese with bacon very good as well.
The gals that serve are cool and laid back which adds to an already chill kinda vibe.
I think it's great, I wouldn't be put off with bad reviews maybe they're just a little hit and miss.
Dinner Downtown Before Cirque du Soleil
Good food right down that way on Queens Quay - Against the Grain Urban Tavern, right at the back of the Corus Building and a killer view of the lake (not to mention Belgian beer list ; )
Wood Oven Pizza on Roncesvalles!
I went this Saturday and quite enjoyed it. There was a bit of a lineup so it took 20m to be seated but after we were seated i found service to be cheerful and prompt.
We had the meatball app, quite nice, sauce was amazing as well and 3 pizzas - wife loved her "funghi" and i my diavelo? - something spicier anyway... i didn't find it overloaded with toppings so maybe they're listening to feedback on here or other boards. My wife says it's good like libretto, and i kind of agree - it's maybe not quite AS GOOD but it's pretty darn similar.
I'd comp some bread if i were them and maybe add an app or 2 calamari or whatever if possible.
Very enjoyable though super happy some great resto's are popping up over this way : )
Bush Company, Dwight. Anyone been?
This place slays the Fiery Grill, which in my opinion had really bad cajun food.
Bush Company has a great room - sort of a pub/hunt club type vibe - and serve a few micros as well including muskoka and lake of bays.
I had fresh bass & chips which was really really nice and the wife had nachos which were really good as well. This is one of the few places up there i'd return to, and was going to last week even though i was closer to parry sound. Good quality honest food, super worth checking out - also an absolutely killer beach just around the corner towards huntsville in dwight right on lake of bays - you can walk out like 200ft. enjoy, it's my new fave place up there :)

Huntsville 2011 - Anything new?
I hit up a place called Bush Company Bar and Grill in Dwight - right at 60 and 35 (south on 35) last week. Great beers on tap including a few micros. Sort of a lodge/pub type place - great Bass'n'chips (fresh) and salads, wings, pulled pork etc...Really great spot in the middle of nowhere, also a great public beach in the same town worth checking out on lake of bays...
GLOBE EARTH comes to Bloor West Village
that must have been it! they kept the egg you didn't eat then gave it to Cat, that's why it was grey!
GLOBE EARTH comes to Bloor West Village
When i had the benny there the eggs were perfectly poached - funny yours were so different. A GREY egg? wow, that's a first i haven't seen that before, must have been pretty old or something.
The reason the place is packed on the weekend brunch is because it's really good and easily the best in the area. You better keep going to the other ones, because that's more your style, I guess.
Best frozen grocery-store burger in Toronto?
Gasparro's burgers at Gasparrao's meat market on bloor near ossington, best ever
Bridget, the roti lady is back!
I was munching on a pumkin/shrimp as i read your post : )
I've had most of her stuff, all is quite good (jerk maybe so-so, could use 2 pieces i think) but
personally i think the beef is killer...
deal and a half for $7 and real good hot sauce as well!!!
have yet to try the curry goat am looking forward to that...
GLOBE EARTH comes to Bloor West Village
I went for brunch on the weekend and found it very enjoyable -
We started with the 'bakers basket - a selection of homemade pastries/muffins/scones etc. served with a homemade cranberry jam and butter - very nice, all of it, the little one was trying to hoard the scones.
I had eggs benny - you can order with spinach, smoked whitefish and pemeal. I got the smoked fish and thought it was great. Eggs were done well, hollandaise was supurb, lemony (could always use a bit more though) and all very tasty... was served with mini potatoes which were good but would have also rather had a few less with a side salad.
Also got a side of sausage which was amazing - they have a butcher in the basement and they do ALL their own meats, even the bacon, which the little one had with organic eggs and really seemed to enjoy.
The wife had the quiche which was a generous portion that she said she loved and was incredibly fluffy. It was served with a salad (greens) she quite liked their homemade dressing as well. Teenybopper had an omlette and liked that too.
I really like the place - i like they aren't stingy with their portions, i like they serve healthy delicious food and i like the price point isn't at all high for the quality food you get.
They've done a great job with the space although i think the main dining room lends itself to dinner as it's darker, with wood / stone etc. I know they're still doing reno's so we will see what is next. This is for sure the best place in the neighbourhood and worth supporting - BWV is a wasteland for resto's and finally we have one...
One thing i'd do for sure is get a kids menu ( if they haven't yet ) , it's a tricky neighbourhood as most people you're gonna get in the immediate area will tend to have a harem of kids.
I think with regard to service, speed etc. i understand they're still working out the kinks in the kitchen and although service was a little slower than i would have liked, all the staff are warm and welcoming.

Bridget, the roti lady is back!
Just had the pumpkin & shrimp, it's killer --- her friend makes the roti skins & they're quite good, also i like the hot sauce as well. My friend had the beef and liked it alot as well says it was super tender. Was already out of the chicken curry (which i had earlier in the wk and loved) which she says goes first. She's gonna have oxtail tomorrow, what a great spot to have in the hood.
GLOBE EARTH comes to Bloor West Village
I was at the new place on the weekend as well - loved it - such a great addition to the west end...
I believe any kinks the kitchen may have had will be worked out shortly as they hit their stride, however everything i tried was quite good as well.
NIce to have a place like this in the neighbourhood - also, more beers on tap shortly : )
Prairie Girl Bakery
Whoa, that's alot of buttercream...there is a new GoodLife fitness opening up nearby though so you can work on that press ; )
Otherwise, nice to have a heads up on the place, my go to is Yummy Stuff but since i work around the corner i'll have to try it out
