Cornesh Pasty in LA?

Yes, I'd say the food is authentic plus they have an English shop next door where they probably sell a frozen version. Pasty and a warm gin, yum! Not to mention they have 4 types of chips plus an array of fried foods. Bad good bad!

West Hollywood restaurant recommendation?

Ghengis cohen is good. Maybe go to the food court at the grove. Mandarette Chinese is also good. I like rid text mex on Flores and they also have some veggie options.

L.A. Dish of the Month, August 2014: COCKTAILS and Bar Food

I'll do one. Their hotdogs that they distribute free of charge to patrons and even people who wander by on the sidewalk during their quarterly punk rock BBQ, are incredibly delicious! I think they 're all beef and they have all the fixings including fresh chopped onions. Worth it to show up on a Sunday afternoon listen to free music, hang out on the sidewalk, and eat some free dogs! The drinks are killer.

Sherman Oaks dining 'renaissance' - will it draw Angelenos?

I've been to tipsy cow and had their Poutine and small sandwiches for happy hour. I liked it a lot. They have one drink on special $5 - it's good..Ginger lime mint? Plus $5 beers. I liked it ..the Poutine was delish but it was my first ever. Nice tiled interior.

The lamb shank at Tipple & Brine is delicious but they don't serve duck. Maybe you could call and special order.

Ring Bologna?

I just got a couple boars head ring bologna discounted at Ralph's. It seems more of a sausage so I was thinking of cooking it with sauerkraut. I'm looking for other suggestion or recipes. Seems like many people pickle it in many different ways and eat as a snack. What shoul I do with this thing?

Couple's first time in Vegas - Tastiest cheap foods please

Yes the $7.77 special at Hard rock is awful. Everything garlicky and bad. Also they forced us to buy a drink and the beer was $7 so the total is $15! Not a deal at all! I would recommend Ellis island above Hard Rock. We were there during Liquid over Memorial Day and the ladies were all naked w/ g strings and guys were just grabbing the ladies from the patio! It was pretty crazy and not appetizing!

Why do so many taco joints have "berto" in their name?

Anothabertos, you must come over the hill to Van Nuys where there is an original Alberto's and so many taco joints you will go nuts.... About a 20 minute drive if it's not rush hour.

Tipple and Brine...has anyone eaten there?

I've had their scotch and oysters deal-y .... A sluice? I forget ; and though I love both, I cannot recommend. We also split the lamb shank at the bar and the lamb was large and impressive knuckle, but the grits and fava were barely there. I wanted to ask for more grits! Expensive with a nice steam-punk atmosphere. I think my bar stool had memory foam for my a*s! Better than before, but overpriced and they need HH specials big time ASAP.

Classy, secluded bunch for Wife's 40th bday?

Definately Sunset Marquis and take the kids on a tour of the studio so they can start making the big bucks ASAP and get what's magic about the music biz! I think a private patio garden is no prob as well as custom menu. About $40/pp.

Loquats

There is a lot of variety in these plants. First you have to find a tree with the type of fruit you wish to eat. Then you plant seeds from that plant.

If you need a good seedling you could try papaya tree nursery who sell Big Jim and Japanese Supersweet varieties. If you need more direction find information from the Southern California rare fruit growers!

I also shop at Wholesome Choice and then I go over to Placentia for excellent Mexican food at El Farolito. If I didn't go there...I would check out some of the other Mexican food in Placentia...particularly Seafood, it seems. Also, i just heard there is a good deep dish chicago style pizza also in Placentia. If not I would head to Slaters 50-50 and have a burger, martini and onion rings!

Which Corned Beef Should I Buy?

I cooked a point cut from Ralph's for 4 hours at 300 degrees and it was delicious and too salty but salty delicious. I am eating leftovers with red boiled taters and cabbage cooked in the juices after I removed the brisket. I need to get a couple more this week I guess. It sliced up nicely for sandwiches when cold this morning. When I was looking at them the grumpy lady next to me said she was off to Gelsons as theirs are so much better. They probably are...
