Looking for a Japanese resturant that can sit a party of 15 for dinner
For 15, you might have to find a private room. I used to be a party planner in NYC but I moved to the burbs after having twins and restaurants dislike having large groups for dinner. you can try morimoto, like someone mentioned below, but most restaurants have a prix-fix menu that might cost a lot of $$. just to warn you.
Dinner for 4 in Soho, Tribeca or Village Saturday night...
Perilla is wonderful for dinner. I really enjoyed my meal there. Another suggestion for dinner is public. have you ever been there? theyre food is wonderful and ambiance is wonderful as well. hope you have fun.
Nice lunch on Monday for vegetarian mother/daughter duo
I was just going to say the same thing, idia. Le Pain Quotidien is a great place for organic food with lots of vegetarian options and they have a wonderful brunch on the weekends. I really enjoy sitting at the communal table as well.
Restaurant Week - never again.
Restaurant week is tough; I used to enjoy driving into the city and enjoying a nice dinner with my husband, but the food has definitely gone downhill in the past two years at the restaurants I've visited (Butter last year, Perry St for lunch).
It might be a better idea to go to a place for lunch (during restaurant week). Some of the places I wanted to sample only have options for lunch. Sorry to hear about your bad experience at Thalassa.
Parents are picky eaters - help!
At first, I thought you post was about parents having children with picky palettes (meaning I thought it read parents OF picking eaters). When I have date nights with my husband in the city, we usually got to Dylan Prime or the Striphouse. Both are steakhouses that are a little trendy (which I know you mentioned might be overwhelming) but I think both are good for the older set. Hope you have fun and happy birthday.
