Inexpensive Wedding Venue... Toronto Area

I got married on the Island at the Algonquin Island Community Centre about nine years ago -

Still a reasonable and lovely place. I don't remember the caterer and wouldn't recommend them anyway.

I'm not sure if this is a chow topic...

Baking chocolate in Toronto

I'm getting ready to start Christmas baking and wondering if anyone know of a deal on baking chocolate. I need about 3 pounds.

I've enjoyed Rodneys' but looking to try someplace new. Starfish? Oyster Boy? Any recommendations?

Distillery District

I'd suggest the Mill Street Brewery as well - great beer, good service, decent menu. Way better value then Pure Spirits or Boiler House.

Chiado - What to order?

Fish absolutely. I remember having an octopus appetizers that was very good. For a main, I'd suggest going for a daily special (of which there usually are several) not something on the menu. I got the impression that they keep the menu pretty basic and add specials to keep it fresh (literally).

Restaurants near Distillery District?

I'd chek out the patio I'd Waterside Sportsclub -

It might be a little too casual for an anniversary, but if waethers nice, the patio is terrific.

Any roof top patio's for a lovely dinner?

Panorama in the Manulife Centre has an awesome view and great cocktails - though very small menu selection that might not be what you're looking for for Mom's 60th. They also have a lot of private functions and I've been charged a cover - best to check ahead.

Best Cheese Plate?

Jamie Kennedy's Wine Bar has an excellent selection - emphasis on local, artisian cheeses - and of course great wine to match.

Fringe fueling so far...

Thanks for the update.

I'm going to take up your rec for Bar Mercurio (tomorrow before seeing Drama Queen).

Friday I saw two shows at Factory Theatre (King and Bathurst)Man-O-Pause (eager but not so good) and Blown Sideways (awesome!). In between I grabbed a bite at The Bank Note - wouldn't recommend it - wilted greens, rubbery chicken.

Any recs on Harbord near Spandina?

Recs for St.Clair and Dufferin?

An recommendations for a romantic dinner spot near St.Clair and Dufferin. I've been to La Bruschetta but am hoping to find something other than pasta or pizza?
