Indulge Burger in Scottsdale????

Hmmm, what can I say....the burgers looked tasty and had potential...however, after sitting and waiting for an hour for a burger that the server said "takes only 15 minutes to cook", we promptly left when I asked the server "how much longer?" and he came back and asked us to please reorder cause he had screwed up. In my opinion, the lack of attentiveness from the wait staff (umm hello, everyone else around us is eating and we are still sitting here waiting) makes this place an undesireable location to dine. The complimentary cheese garlic chips that they serve were a little bland but I was hoping that they could redeem themselves with their burger and fries. Unfortunately, we never got a chance to try them. I do hope that other chowhounders have a better experience but without a change in staff, (all of whom seem to have come directly off the short bus and directly into this restaurant to work), we will never go back.

in search for the elusive sunshine sushi roll in phoenix area

Can someone please help me find a decent sushi place (phx or west side) that serves a good sunshine roll? (Spicy salmon roll with thin slices of lemon on the top) Thanks!

Seeking life changing Chinese food like House of Nanking (PHX)

try the Great Wall on 35th ave and camelback. If you want something authentic, look and see what the next table is eating and order it if it looks unfamilar. Been pretty happy with that place for years.

Best Things to Eat in Phoenix

Chicken Sultani Kabob lunch combo at the Persian Room. Comes with a white meat marinated chicken kabob and a Koobideh kabob. Way more than enough food for one person. Dinner is expensive and too much food for any normal eater. Also, the hummus with some raw onion and basil for the appetizer is a nice touch. Very creamy and smooth, though it was better before they changed the recipe.

Favorite Central Phx hole in the wall Mexican?

I second the vote for La Tolteca. I love their super nachos with ground beef ($7), their super burrito ($7), and their elote. From time to time, they have BBQ ribs which are cheap and pretty good too. The greatest part is you can buy homemade tortillas and chips to bring home.

Another choice is Ranch Market on 16th and Roosevelt. Another grocery store with a great cafeteria style restaurant inside. The food is cheap and delicious. Best birria I have had in a while.

Downtown Phoenix lunch options

If you are gonna go as far up as Coronado Cafe, you should stop for a vampira or carne asada burro at America's. It's on 7th street just south of Coranado Cafe

AJ's Famous BBQ (Phoenix)

Hi all! I have been a longtime reader of Chowhound but this is actually my first post. So I was craving BBQ ribs the other day and decided to take the advice of a friend to visit AJ's Famous BBQ in south Phoenix. I was a bit skeptical as I drove through some rough neighborhoods to get there....I was even more nervous when there was no one inside the place when I got there (though it was 4 in the afternoon). However, I had the best fall off the bone pork BBQ ribs ever! The ribs had such an amazing smokey flavor that only comes from many many many hours on the smoker. The number 9 dinner comes with 2 sides and 3 ginormous ribs. The owner greeted us with great southern hospitality, and told us all about how he grows his own black eyed peas and buys his greens from local growers. Honey Bear's doesnt even come close to this place. If you are craving some true southern classic BBQ, this is the place to go!
