Too funny. I just typed Jasmine's name into google, saw they now have a website and are having a $3.99 special on pomengranate molasses! |
Jasmine Halal Meats at 4323 Main Street has it. |

Saw some today at Galloways. It's from Japan and a whopping $21.99. |

I posted a request for these back in June, 2010. Other than the usual suspects, I got suggestions of Stuart's Bakery in Grnville Island and Moore's in Kerrisdale. I ended up getting them at Stuart's. |

$8.99 at Parthenon, where I always buy it. |

River Rock Christmas Brunch Buffet - Is it a mistake? A bunch of us are planning to go to go here. Reading reviews I'm beginning to get cold feet. Anybody have any experience? |

Lowland Herb Farms at Trout Lake had it. You're right about it being useless when dried. |

ISO store selling pandan, tumeric and banana leaves I don't know about fresh turmeric but I've had good luck with pandan there and I've seen banana leaves at Dong Thanh on Kingsway. |

Using Gari (pink pickled sushi ginger) Thanks very much for this. Yes, of course, why not just stir fry with it? I must go boldly! I like the draping over devilled egg too. Wow, what a board! |

Using Gari (pink pickled sushi ginger) I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to use up Gari in dishes other than sushi. |

I bought a nice little silvered metal one a couple years ago at Ikea. |

Pear Tree -anyone been lately? Funny you should mention that. I was just talking to a chef friend of mine and he says he sends everybody he knows there. Not having been mysellf, couldn't say but it' sounds intriguing. |

Taiwanese hot dogs with a rice 'bun' To anyone who is interested I e mailed this Formosa Reality Club. They said that to their knowledge they didn't know anyone else that was making them and that's why THEY made them. They will keep me posted as to the next event. God, the lengths we go to get food we like! |

Taiwanese hot dogs with a rice 'bun' Thanks grayelf. I was looking at that. I wonder if they'd make me one without the attendant yakiniku. |
Taiwanese hot dogs with a rice 'bun' Thanks kinnickinnik. I saw that too but it turns out they are an organization that does various events and maybe serves food at them. I was looking more for a stall or restaurant. |

Taiwanese hot dogs with a rice 'bun' were had at the Telus Taiwan Fest we had on Granville at the beginning of September. I loved them and wonder if anybody knows where else I can get them. Apparently they were at the Richmond Night Market also, so they must be available somewhere. |

I'll be going to Hawksworth today, so a bit short notice. Anyone have any recommendations for brunch or lunch? |
Vancouver's best delis - what do you recommend? I like Omnitsky's for their tongue and rye caraway bread. From Polonus on Fraser I get smoked chicken legs, frankfurters and kielbasa. They also do an interesting juniper sausage. Echo Euro foods. I got some nice smoked eel from them/ |

I called them and they don't have Nathans but now do one themselves called "Brooklyn Doders" which they say is like Hebrew Nationals. I'll give them a try, Thanks |
Thanks clutterer. Phat Deli does still have them according to the menu. Good to know for when i'm in the hot dog frame of mind again. |

Went to Nat Bailey Stadium today and had a Nathan's hot dog. Loved it. Nice and garlicky. Does anybody know where to get the franks retail? |

I was just wondering the same. Regarding the ham, though, I don't wax nostalgic for a better quality of it in the dish in Japan. It simply wasn't the case. They'd typically put radish sprouts, egg, julienned ham and tomato on it. |
Thanks. I'll try them both. |

My lids seem to be disappearing at an alarming rate. Ming Wo no longer has loose lids. I want a lid that will fit a 7 to 12 inch pan. Any ideas where? |

Fisherman's Terrace - what to order Okay, for this birthday, we've decided to do Fisherman's Terrace as we'll be there anyway. Since I'm now scared out of my mind because of not being able to order in the language, what dishes should we order? |

Birthday Chinese Dinner in Richmond Dinasty? Too far? |
Birthday Chinese Dinner in Richmond 4 of us. $25.00 per person. Cuisine? Not too bothered but probably not too hot. |
Birthday Chinese Dinner in Richmond A friend and I are going to be taken out for our birthday (around same time). I'm not wanting to steer everyone wrong but I wonder if there is a place that could be recommended around Aberdeen Mall? Rainflower? Shanghai Rive?, where we don't have to speak the language. |

ISO old school Eggplant Parmigiana Finally got here, ck1234. Thanks for the rec. It was a bit salty but pretty tasty with a big accompanying caesar salad and a bit of bread. Diverse, interesting menu for such a small place. There's a place called Osteria Napoli on Renfrew I've heard about that serves it as well if anyone's interested. |

Just in the spiriit of apprisement :) vis a vis Costco, just thought I'd let everybody know that Lin's on Broadway and Granville is 'closed for staff holidays' until April 1. |
