McDonald's New McFish Bites...
I've had em Dallas and they are pretty tasty for a Mcdonalds product. They get a little mushy at the bottom in the cute little box, but have decent tasting fish in them.

I'm a fan of Guy, but this may be a tipping point. My wife loved Puala Deen until she went to her big traveling show. Overexposure is a dangerous thing , Look at Emeril.

Del's is just the place you are looking for. It definetly qualifies as a dive.I don't know what we'll do if they close up shop. There used to be plenty of char bars around but not so much now.
Roadtrip to Hot Springs
There is a big cafeteria on the west side of Texarkana. Easy on and off from 30. Food may have fallen off a bit but it's real old school service. Get a Bloddy Mary from the bar at the Arlington in Hot Springs.

I have a friend in the restraunt chain business and he said the demographics in that area are unbelievable, but it never translates to a successful venture. Thus ,all the failures in that area.

CRAWFISH TIME! But where to get it?
The Fish Shack has them in Plano. 6.99 for a real pound. I ate 2 lbs. las Friday, Then they ran out. Call ahead to make sure they have them. These were really fresh and sweet. Happy Hour is 3 to 7 for 2 dollar beers. Best value I've seen

Favorite cheap meats?
Best bang for the buck is a 7 bone chuck roast. I can find them in Dallas for 99 cents an lb every other month or so. 7 bone chuck steaks run around 1.39 when on sale.
Pork sirloin steaks are very good value. Turkey tails are great for Turkey tails and dumplings.
I can't believe how the price for beef short ribs has jumped. Many times they are more expensive than ribeyes. Even the Asian and Korean shops have sent the prices thru the roof.
Where's the best place (if any) to buy Raw Oysters in copious quantities
We used to order sacks of oysters thru Farmers Seafood in Shreveport and meet the trucks at various restruants around Dallas. For crawfish call around to vendors in Louisiana to get the same hook ups. Crawdads are really expensive in Big D.

I just recieved the Louisiana Kitchen cookbook. What are the taste differnces in using the old style individual spices he calls for in this cookbook vs the newer recipies that call for his cajun majic stuff.
I've got 10 lbs of FRESH La shrimp and a gallon of fresh shucked oysters, I watched the guy pull them from the sack and shuck the gallon in front of me. These oysetrs we sleeping in the bay yesterday. I want to make the best quality Gumbo I can.

Bambu - North Dallas / Richardson - Incredible New Thai Restaurant!
I've eatin there twice for lunch. The larb beef was very good and the Green Curry was also very good, They do make it spicy, which is good, plus the curry was not overloaded with coconut milk. This is a nice little place with friendly service but it's not quite incredible but if they served home made stuffed chicken wings they would then be incredible.

Central Market has lump blue crab now for 10 buck a lb. I'm making my own

Hey Burger Beginner, Counry Burger has not been at 15th and Custer for years. They do make a decent burger but they seemed to taste better at the old location.

If you go on 35 you will end up in Ardmore, not Durant. There is a real good fried pie place on the way to Ardmore
Sichuan cuisine in DFW
Update on Royal Sichuan: I just returned from lunch and my mouth is still numb. I ordered the Tofu in hot sauce and it was great, the best I've had. Maybe they are turning up the heat for the round eyes.
Pittsburg Hot Link Restaurant - Pittsburg, TX
I have eaten tens of dozens of Pittsburg Hot links. The shop in Pittsburg is a cool spot, but they steam the links, and you have to be a purest to enjoy them that way, bit if you are down there definetly try go to the store. There is a BBq spot on the north side of town on the east side of the road that serve the links BBqds and they are delicous, not nearly as greasy. Going to visit some organic farms and eting some Pittsburg hot links is definetly covering both ends of the spectrum. BTW if you buy some raw links from a stores do not ,under any circumstance, read the list of ingrediants.

The Egg And I
Took my family here for a special birthday breakfast after reading good reviews on Yelp and other sites. All I can say is it is terrible. Sausage was brown and serve type. Potatos were worse. Our fritata was so covered in cheese you could not taste anything else, which may have been a blessing. The food was below the quality of a breakfast buffet at La Quinta. But people were lined up out the door when we left. I just don't get it.

I like the Middle European Market at 75 and Forest. They have some very good sausages and Mustards also they are much cheaper than Kuby's.
Sichuan cuisine in DFW
I had a bowl of Beef Noodle soup and the tofu in hot suace at Royal Sichuan. The beef noodle soup was odd in the fact the meat was corned but the soup had a very good noodles and the broth had a little kick but I had asked for extra spicey. The tofu was good but not great. I did get a little of the numbing sensation but I asked for it extra spicey also.
I'm being a little hard on them because they replaced my favorite place in that strip the Mandarain Cafe. The two dishes I ordered were the same I always ordered at Mandarian Cafe and IMHO they weren't as tasty. BUT I do appreciate what they have done with the space. This is a place that I can now take my wife and scaredy cat friends. I tried this once before and they did a U turn when I opened the door. BTW the luch prices are very reasonable.
Best BBQ and Best Pho Dallas
As close as you are to Sonny Bryan's you should try it for lunch. Get a chopped beef sandwich and some onion rings. The place does have alot of character.
Even if it was the Best BBQ in Dallas, that wouldn't be saying alot.

Pho 2828 in Plano?
Pho Mac is at Indepence and Parker, same side as Tom Thumb. Very comfortable spot.
txram, I've never really had a bad bowl of Pho, some are just better than others. But they are all a little bit different.

I stopped there to try it out a couple of weeks ago. The place was pretty busy but almost half the tables had not been bussed and were full of dishes. I went on my way. Try it out and tell us.
BTW, pho is a helluva fo a drug !
