Krug Room, Mandarin Hotel Hong Kong

Was wondering if anyone tried out the tasting menu (dunno if it is) here.
If so, how much is it? or any details you can share?

Best splurge dinner?

I have to say, I felt Colborne Lane was money not well spent.
Im not saying that Canoe is not good, please don't get me wrong. It just dosen't give me a cozy, intimate surrounding. Great for anniversaries, but wedding...not romantic enough IMO. The 5th feels more romantic to me?

Best splurge dinner?

Not really saying that Canoe is not good but its not super memorable cause there isn't a huge WOW factor to it (at least for me). Its a celebration for a wedding, being surrounded by business suits sort of kills the mood??? Then why not Auberge since it has a better atmosphere, cozier then Canoe then?
Although Canoe has a better view....depends what you prefer.

Best splurge dinner?

Not quite sure what kind of atmosphere your looking for or type of food.

But for a special occasion like your wedding, I would think maybe something memorable.

-Although colbourne lane is something different, besides the "Oooo this is neat" the taste wasn't very memorable. I treated my family to the kitchen table tasting menu and besides the presentation none of them were impressed with the food. Nothing melted in my mouth, the flavours weren't bursting.

-Was at scaramouche for my anniversary and cozy is not the word I would use to describe it. The food was alright but the atmosphere was a little....outdated. I felt like I was at a retirement home with dimmed lights.

-North 44, Canoe...feels to me its more of a place for business accounts?

-Eigensinn Farm although I have not been. Feels like a great place to go.

WANTED! Indian Curry recommendation anyone?

Hi Guys!

Thanx for all the recommendations!!
The drive isn't really an issue to us. The drive makes it more exciting sometimes. We used to always head over to little india on the east side. Although the price is a steal, the food does seem to be quite generic.
Personally for myself, Amaya, kamasutra and 259 all seems to attract me very. Dun think I can try all in one meal, but it will definately be on my TO TRY List.

I actually threw all the names that were suggested here to my SO and lets see what he suprises me with now...

Will report back ...

THANX everyone!!

WANTED! Indian Curry recommendation anyone?

My Fiance's Birthday is coming up. He's really into Indian Curry.
Besides going all the way to the east side, any other choices that can be recommended.
If the place had a touch decor that would be a plus....thanks in advance!

Bridal Shower assistant SOS!!

Helping out my good friend's Bridal Shower.

She's looking for a Venue with a nice room to fit around 20 people. She mentioned that she's been to Oliver and Bonaccini and likes the room at the back. Thought the food there was alright but was hoping to find something better. Any suggestions for a nice venue where the girls can have great food and a wonderful Bridal shower??

Oh! and maybe not to much of a burden on the wallet....

Food and Music

I'm a visitor. I once went on a street and it was filled with restaurants with live jazz music singing and (some had dancing). I recall the street being a short walking distance from Times Square.
Could anyone tell me where abouts the street is? Or maybe some restaurant recommendations similar for my upcoming visit?

Seafood Tower and a little foie?

Or perhaps a nice cozy place (nothing fancy shmancy) for a seafood tower and some foie gras?

Dining for two girls in paris...

Will be heading to paris soon for a few days and have a few questions for dining.
We were looking for something cozy and local. Similar to bistros/restaurants like in NY Greenwich or like those little restaurants in little Italy (but french food)
Was wondering which part of Paris would these fine gems to offer so that we can start heading that way towards dinner time.
I was told long before to try L'epi dupin?? Is that still something to look into?

Thanks in advance ^^

I couldn't resist but to put in my 2 cents worth.
Susur was the first place I've ever tried a tasting menu. And after that meal at Susur's I was wowed and amazed. After, I've been to Splendido, George, Perigee, N44, Canoe, Truffles, get my point. None of these places wowed me like Susur. I do admit that the service at Susur was a bit colder then other fine establishments but the food really set the bar high, especially for the foie gras.
As for the chinese fusion part, have you ever tried RAIN? If your thinking Susr is a rip off, Rain is worse then. They give you beef brisket ( a little piece) and charging you a fortune when you can get a huge bowl for 3.50 at a chinese restaurant.
And if you think Susur is expensive, what about harbour 60? over 20 bucks for the foie gras + 60 bucks for the steak + dessert and wine and water...Its the same thing. But you get less variety and a bloated belly ( is that called worth your money ) And how about the almost 50 bucks foie gras burger at bymark! Only a burger and as if their going to put a lot of foie in that meat.
So aren't we being a little to hard?

Canoe - summerlicious

I totally agree. Its not only easier to pay full price but pay full price after the 'licious' thing. You'll get better food and better service. And even if you get through to the canoe reservations line, the food during this time is nothing that blows you away. Why waste your time at work redialing.

Dining in Markham?

Near the hotel, about 4 or 5 lights towards east on Highway 7, there's a street north of highway 7 called Main St. A quaint little street with little shops and a few different restaurants to choose from. Restaurants ranges from steakhouses, italian, french and pub food. If the weather is nice, you can opt for the patio and enjoy the weather.

Is there a street similar to little italy (not necessarily italian) or an area like Greenwich in New York?

7 Girls need help!

Your right Leek, I should be more specific. Hip, trendy and fun places would be nice. something like the spice market in New York. Your idea of creative food pariings with Beer sounds great!! Something similar to L'atelier de Joel Robuchon would be nice to and don't mind spluring on. Dosen't have to be ethnic. We're fans of foie gras, to yummy desserts. I hope that helps. Thanks!

I love Crab Cakes!

I haven't been to Baltimore so I'm not quite sure what your comparing to. The crab cakes at splendido were yummy a lot of crab meat in every bite.

Anything else then the usual?

Trying to find a place to celebrate a special occasion. I've done Susur, Perigee, George, Splendido, JKWB and so forth. Any suggestions out there for a place that has great food (yummy tasting menu?) and even great atmosphere?

Best Steakhouse in TO

Barberians is a bit to old school. But still very good and has a very resonable price (the steaks aren't a la carte). Ruth Chris and Mortons is more commercialized (its everywhere in the world). I would too recommend Harbour 60. The steaks are perfect and the atmosphere and service is perfect.

La Chine chinese restaurant (Richmond Hill)

I was there this friday for dinner. I do agree with the decor being upscale modern. But that's it.
We were asked how we felt about the food, my whole family all agreed at once that it was all a bit to salty. Instead of accepting our critique we were told that it was fusion food and that the cooks were accustomed to cooking western food. The waiter kept rambling on what fusion food was and that it was perhaps not to our taste, and that kids born in canada prefer it more. What!!??
The portions were small, and being in the food industry and knowing the prices, this chinese restaurant is ripping you off. Fried rice for 13.99, you could get it elsewhere for better taste and a larger portions. There's no point in going into what other stuff I had for dinner cause its just regular chinese food trying to BE fusion but with a higher price tag. Then IMO, Rain does a better job at doing it.
