San Vivaldo Trattoria, Warwick review
Emily it is not a concept but a passion of Alfie's and probably the only way he knows how to run his operation. I know, I love the guy and I have sold him a lot of wine in the past but sometimes he is his own worst enemy. It is a constant battle for the price of things including his labor . If he does get busy he is dead because how can you possibly provide front of the house service and be the chef at the same time! I forgot to mention I also have 30 yrs restaurant experience as well.

New Rivers - Providence
Geez you've got to cut some people a break! The construction is on the exterior of the building and you are dining in the evening when the light is fading. Business is tough enough. Was the food and service great? These (the staff) are dedicated people throughout the whole operation.
Thoughts on Farmer's Markets south of Boston?
providence Pawtucket line is the Hope Street Farmers Market which starts Sat.June 6th 9:30 till 12:30. Based on the success of the winter Farmers market this should be huge as the season progresses.
Best Fries in Providence
The Heritage Tap on Grand Ave in Pawtucket has terrific house made fries. Crisp on the outside ane mealy on the inside. Next would be Red Stipe's frites. I get out to a lot of restaurants and the first thing I try are the fries so these are my top two out of many tries.
Broadway in Providence seems a hip place to eat
A forewarning on Julian's. Artsy attitude, tattoos required but good food and gutsy combinations so go very casual and have fun. We are of the same generation so put your jeans on.
Broadway in Providence seems a hip place to eat
Frank The place on the left is Julian's. Broadway is a great place to find no nonsese-good food. Open minded people are behind them all as you said no B/S!

This is really apples and oranges! Laiterie is small intimate and a labor of love with fantastic ingredients and creativity. Red Stripe while Bisto like is more mainstream but still very good and for the most part made on premise.

"Amarone-esque" wines?
You should search for ripasso style wines. That is the Valpolicella wine from the Veneto passed over the lees of the Amarone must to give the wine a touch of that rich Amarone taste. There are many producers of Ripassa, Cesare comes to mind. Also Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon is 10% dried grape so that too would have an Amarone quality without the price
