Looking for ideas for a celebratory dinner within an easy distance to the Supreme Court,
Husband is arguing his first case before the Supreme Court. Friends and family will be in attendance. Staying near the court without cars. Looking for a great spot to celebrate this career milestone. Any type of cuisine. Price per person without drinks max $75. Suggestions?
Visiting for First time. Ft. Lauderdale...need a bday reservation dinner!
Market 17 is a good choice (particularly for happy hour) but had to LOL when you suggested the dining in the dark option in response to the poster's request for a place "that is a see and be scene"!
Salads in Broward County
Who has the best variety and well made salads in Broward Coumty? Sometimes a salad is all that's needed for a great lunch or dinner. Eat in or take out. Your thoughts?
Le Cirque Dress Code?
I had dinner at Le Cirque last night and saw something I've never seen before.....a group of six thirty-something's met for dinner. One of the men was wearing a collared polo shirt and baggy below the knee shorts. The hostess stepped into a small closet and took out a pair of trousers for the man to change into before they would permit him entrance into the restaurant. I've been to several restaurants where jackets and ties are "loaned" to the under dressed man, but have never seen a pair of pants loaned out. I thought of this post as I saw this unfold and thought I'd share. To respond to the rest of your question, other than this one man, for the most part, all the other diners were dressed well. I only saw a few men without a jacket, and none were in short sleeve shirts. The women were all dressed appropriately.
Lunch in/near Bellagio Hotel
I have a lunch reservation at Milo's a week from Saturday and never gave this issue a thought until I read this post, so I just called them and confirmed that the lunch special is offered every day.
Pre-LOVE dinner at The Mirage?
BLT Burger in the Mirage has good burgers, salads, shakes, although very noisy. If you venture away from the Mirage, you have alot more options.
Your Thoughts on My Ft. Lauderdale Picks
When did the chef at Market 17 change? 've been a few times n the last few months and didn't notice any drop off in food quality or service. As an aside, they have a very good happy hour.
Your Thoughts on My Ft. Lauderdale Picks
All good choices. Cafe Maxx is as solid as ever and you'll have plenty of fish (more so than seafood) choices there.
Dining with Folks In Tamarac and Delray Beach- where to eat?
If you want to stay close to your parents in Tamarac, Blue Moon Fish Co. In Coral Springs would be a good choice. http://www.bluemooncoralsprings.com/
WPB Area Restaurant with Nice Garden?
A half hour south, you might want to check out the SUNDY House in Delray Beach. Very pretty gardens, suitable indoor space for inclement weather, nice lunch menu, reasonably priced. As an added bonus, they have a great, sort of funky, honeymoon suite. http://www.sundyhouse.com/
Big Skt, MY Ski - Suggestions?
Thanks for reporting back. It's good to know that Buck's remains unchanged. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Big Skt, MY Ski - Suggestions?
I've been to that area several times but not in the past two years so can't speak to current status, but figured I'd post in case no one else does. Bucks T4 is an unassuming place with some amazing game and beef dishes, unlike anyplace else that I've ever been. Laid back atmosphere. Assuming nothing has changed, I'd highly recommend it.
Clematis in West Palm Beach's "Longboards" brings "New England-style, fresh seafood with a casual, laid-back ambiance"
I don't know that I"d make the drive. Having said that, I like DaDa. It's a fun place to go, especially when the weather is so nice and you can sit outside. The food is good but nothing I would rave about. The drinks are solid, the wine list reasonably priced, and lots of things on the menu that are good for sharing. For me, there are so many places in Delray that it's hard to make the rounds to all those that are tried and true, but when the mood strikes, DaDa is solid for what it is. Side note, they were selling groupons a few months back which definitely made it a worthy destination.
Max's Harvest: Farm-to-Table/Slow Food Coming to Delray's Pineapple Grove
Yes, Erica, the food is still good. I've been back several times. I haven't seen the "early bird" promoted or offered there although a friend of mine said it was offered over the holidays albeit at an increased price of $36 I think she said. It is not inexpensive without it, but still a good place to go. No market to table in Boynton which really doesn't have much to recommend in general. There is another place in Delray (DIG) that would sort of fit this criteria, but I haven't been personally so can't speak to it's chow-worthiness.
Note to CF, the rissoto cake is good. Surprisingly, so was the chicken which I had just a few weeks ago and is something I don't ordinarily order in a restaurant.
How to store spicy/sugared nuts with bacon mix?
Thanks! I am also happy to hear the recipe was a hit as I"m making it for the first time to bring to a party.
How to store spicy/sugared nuts with bacon mix?
Ingredients are nuts, maple syrup, spices, and cooked bacon. Recipe says it can be served warm or allowed to cool. I'd like to make this either one or two days ahead if possible. So, can I make this ahead with success and if so, does it get stored in a tupperware container on the counter or in the frig? TIA
Is Lotus of Siam worth the trek for a Portlander?
I've been to both LOS and Pok Pok. Food is comparable. Pok Pok has a funkier vibe as LOS is in a basic strip center shopping center. Both are great but with all the great restaurants in Las Vegas, if you are short on time and/ or have other dinner/meals in mind, you could afford to skip it.
Best Italian
I like Casa D'Angelo in Boca. Don't let their on-line menu excite or disappoint. I can't recall ever ordering off their menu as the list of daily specials is nearly half as long. I go there fairly often, and have never been disappointed, nor have any guests we've taken with us.
Trip Report
I've eaten at Carnevino a couple of times in the last few months. The last time I was there, my son ordered the mixed grill. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as Liz described, however, it was nothing special leaning more towards mediocre. On the other hand, the seperately ordered steaks, sides, and service were still very good. I think the mixed grill was just more of a dud menu item, than a reflection of the rest of their offerings. I can't speak to the two pasta dishes Liz reviewed, however, the few pasta apps I've had there in the past were well prepared and tasty.
Deer Valley/Park City
it's been a few years since we've visited this area so any updates on new places or old worthy ones are greatly appreciated. We won't have a car but will have use of the shuttle. We've always included Mariposa and the seafood buffet in prior visits and plan to do so again unless you say otherwise. Any type of food/cost is ok so long as it's good. TIA
4 Nights - e, L'Atelier, Aburiya Raku ... ?
Hey, Frod. I figured by now that you'd have several replies but since you haven't gotten any, I'll throw in my $.02. Now that my son has left SoFla and moved to Vegas, we've had several visits out there. I can't help you with the ethnic eateries other than LOS, for your extra dinner, not outrageously priced, I'd recommend Todd's Unique. It's sort of like a cross between Cafe Maxx and Timo. Check out their menu on- line. Service and food are always great. http://www.toddsunique.com/main.html. For your croissant, Jean Phillipe in the Bellagio would be my pick near the Cosmo. There are others as good if not better, but not as close to City Center. I hope you get to visit e, as there's nothing like it in SoFla.
Do the blue cheese and fig savories need to be refrigerated?
bump...so, do I refrigerate tonight or not? help and thanks!
Do the blue cheese and fig savories need to be refrigerated?
I made the blue cheese and fig savories recipe I got from this site awhile ago but can't find it now. It said you could make them a day ahead and store in an airtight container, but didn't say anything about refrigeration so I assume they don't need it, but thought I'd check in with the experts on this site. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving to all!
Near or on the way to American Airlines Arena (from Broward)
No dessert, which is unusual for me. Maybe next time, as I"m sure there will be a next time.
Near or on the way to American Airlines Arena (from Broward)
Thank you both for the suggestions. All sounded great. We ended up at City Hall which was perfect. We found the menu very interesting. Service was great, food delicious, and the cocktails imaginative. Being able to park in the restaurant's lot all night with their blessings was an added bonus.
Near or on the way to American Airlines Arena (from Broward)
Thanks for the restaurant advice as well as the tip on parking.
Near or on the way to American Airlines Arena (from Broward)
We will be heading to the AAA from Broward. Looking for an early, casual dinner on the way or nearby that has great food and reasonable prices. No restrictions on type of cuisine other than a requirement that they also serve cocktails. Ideally it will be somewhere in Miami or close enough so as not to have to deal with rush hour traffic. Thanks!
Any GREAT dinner place for Seniors who like GOOD FOOD
While good food is good food regardless of the age of the diner, when I think of seniors, good food for value, Brooks comes to mind, with the operative word being senior. They generally have some type of live music, they have a dance floor, varied menu prepared well, and reasonable pricing, particularly if you want a multi-course meL with wine. They are located on Federal Highway in Lighthouse point. Another smaller restaurant with good food that seems to cater to a senior crowd with reasonable prices is family owned and operated Rio Vista in Sunrise in the 44th Street shopping center.
D'Angleo Trattoria in Delray Beach
Just off the Avenue on 7th. I think it's in the same building that Carolina's Pizza was in, but not sure, as I had never been there.
