Pattie Shack, Manchester N.H.

@crowdingthepan, have you tried Rocky's Famous in Newmarket, NH (next town over from Durham)?

City Flame Smoke House, Manchester NH

Plain old broke-assed white bread is the ONLY bread EVER served with BBQ from Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City to Interstate in Memphis to Dreamland in Birmingham to Corky's in N.C. I don't know if this is the first BBQ you have ever had but I suggest if you want "quality" bread with BBQ you may want to bring your own because it doesn't exist at the best BBQ joints in the world I understand your thought, but the bread is only there to sop-up the sauce/ juice. I rarely end up eating the bread at all unless I am having brunswick stew. As far as paying for water I was referring to bottled water not tap water. Why should you pay for something that comes out of a sink? Nothing as long as you bring your own cup. Why should anyone get a cup and straw for free as it is an expense to the restaurant where margins are slim enough.
Good luck looking for Brioche at a BBQ joint...

City Flame Smoke House, Manchester NH

The bread was insubstantial? I'm not sure if you are aware of it or not, but BBQ is eaten on plain ole white bread of the Wonder like variety. I have eaten BBQ from texas, memphis, carolina, KC and live in alabama and have never received "Substantial" bread. The dryness however is unfortunate. As far as water goes, if you want it why wouldn't you be willing to pay for it?

Cu Na Mara Irish Restaurant - Bristol, NH?

I had known about Shaskeen in Manch-vegas but I didn't know anything about Cu Na Mara... I'll be in NH the beginning of Sept. and you can bet I'll be stopping by as well. Although I'm hoping they can make some colcannon and champ as an off menu item.

Help! Rappie Pie?

That's a great idea @ 66corvair... if only I owned a juicer! Heck, I thought I was hi-tech using a grater attachment on my food processor. I got the molasses habit from my grandfather.... that and vinegar on lots of things that freak people out.

Help! Rappie Pie?

I don't know of any in New England.... But my guess is you'ld find it in northern Maine out near NB border seeings it is an Acadian dish. Too bad you can't find it around here cause it is a good one, I like mine with Molases! The following is a good recipe for it... I have always made it by sight as I learned from my great aunt in NS.

@ mollydingle... I have never seen a rappie pie made with a pastry crust or sliced potatoes, but there is something close to that in Quebec...tourtière du Lac-Saint-Jean... or just plain tourtière.

Gatlinburg Restaurants?

Looking for something decent to eat up that way this time of year. I was also wondering if anybody had been to Blackberry Farm resort not too far from Gatlinburg, I was thinking of dinner there. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Hartford, Franklin Ave.

Is Franklin Ave. Giant pizza and Grinders still there? and if they are, are they as good as they used to be about 15 yrs. ago?

NH Manch-Vegas....good food?

I Live in the south but I work in NH quite a bit in the summer. I have asked people in my travels good places to eat and a lot of times they give me names of chain restaurants. FOR THE LOVE OF PETE SOMEONE HELP ME! Not looking for anything fancy, just good food.

Italian Food in B'ham???

I'm a transplant yankee and a bit of an Italian food snob (I used to live in the south end of Hartford Ct.) I've been to a few "Italian" restaurants in B'ham and have been physically ill with dissapointment. (What's the deal with soft rolls swimming in garlic butter?) I was hoping someone could possibly help me find a decent Italian restaurant...

55 Degrees, Concord NH, Anyone been?

That's like going to a McDonalds and expecting them to call the hamburgers "Steak Hache"... Too bad, Concord needs some good restaurants.
